NEVER silicone or seal behind those glass stops. Its not needed and youre only making a bigger problem by doing it next time the glass needs to be replaced. the glass is sealed with the gasket in the stops and held in place by the rubber/plastic blocks in the frame. If you wet seal do around the edges of glass to stops AFTER installed.
Oops! I see you are really working carefully to avoid breaking the glass. However, you removed the stops incorrectly. This type of aluminum door/ window stop is pressure set. To set them properly, place the outer hook on the front edge of the frame and roll the back (sprung) side in from end to end. The stop will snap in place if done properly. Removal is the exact opposite. Place the flat tool between the glass and the back of the stop and gently roll it out. It is important not to bend the stops, which will result in the inability to reset them. Hope I was informative enough to help. FYI: I have been a journeyman glazier for 40 years and know what I am talking about.
