Many many thanks Larry. I should have sorted the sound better. Ah Larry, these guys and girls deserve to be remembered. So many of them were inspirational. Best wishes from the cold snowy Belfast Castlereagh hills.

    Hi Tom.
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the video. I was the guitarist with Runnin'Riot. Great to see our brother Colin featured here. A friend actually used this video to navigate to the grave. He travelled quite a way and was able to pay his respects thanks to this video. More power to you mate.

      Hi Marty!
Many thanks for you very kind words of encouragement.
Everyone who is in any cemetery had a mum and dad, brother or sister, wife of husband and maybe children and indeed friends. They had lives and dreams. Sadly, like so many others, your brother died young. He was loved by so many and deserves to be remembered. I count it a privilege to make videos like this. I don't take it lightly. I really appreciate it that you, Colin's brother and bandmate, got in touch and that I helped that friend get there too.
Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.

      Hi again Marty.
I looked up this video I did of Colin's mural picture, in the Doc Martin shop in Belfast. The mural was done by a street artist with the tag name Visual Waste.
      Take care. Best wishes Tom

I remember going to Dr Denny’s in Ballarat St & later on Ravenhill Rd. My grandmother lived nearby in Shamrock St, I stayed with her for a while & got to go to Park Parade High School. I loved that school but after form 3, I had to go to Lisnasharragh High School when it opened. I hated it! (I hear it was demolished). Jim.

Yes thegood doctor was widely known and greatly respected. I remember Park Parade and watched Lisnasharragh being knocked down. Social housing has taken its place. I taught for 30 years up in Newtownbreda High School opposite Belvoir estate that was built 1961 onwards.

Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills. Ps I've done walkrounds of most of our fascinating Belfast graveyards. So much hidden history!

How much would you charge for a little walkaround at Roselawn to cover our family graves ? Maybe 5 tops -, if you can offer something, please let us know. Thanks.

      Hi Win.
This is a strange request. Strange in that I've never had such before. I have found graves for folk but there was never any question of money changing hands.
      Some initial responses.
Do you live here in Ireland? If you do, why not do this yourself or get some friend or relative to do it for you? Why me?
If you live abroad why not get some relative or friend from home to do it?
I'm not interested in any money. Money always complicates things. What interests me is helping folk out and whether I could use some, or all of the content, in my channel. Would you mind that?
My big problem is always time. I have very little.
Such a walkaround is certainly doable.
Get back to me or not.
Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.

Hi Edward, I have walked through Roselawn quite a few times. This '10 notable people' video is about 10 people, that many Belfast people would know, from the TV etc.
There are so many UDR and RUC dead in Roselawn. Men who died trying to make Northern Ireland a safer place for us all. In my opinion these officers were let down/betrayed by successive British governments. I did not vote for the travesty of the Good Friday Agreement etc. that allowed known killers, from both political sides to go free! So much for justice.
You might be interested in this video I did with my friend Peter McCabe.

Many thanks Edward. I'm just a nobody, an old guy and a complete amateur. I'm having a lot of fun with RUclips but my main intent is to offer a positive view of N Ireland. To try in some small way to counter all the overly negative stuff people who hate the place have been allowed to spew out over the decades. Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.

All sides of the community didn't respect David especially the family's of the 2 innocent catholics he butchered. And you call him a good person this is shocking

    • @TomMcClean
      @TomMcClean  Год назад +1

Hi TIM. I hear what you are forcefully saying. The Bible tells us no one living on this earth can be called good. We are all, to some extent, sinners. So to that extent I was speaking incorrectly.
When I spoke/wrote I was obviously not referring to the past life of David Ervine. He admitted to doing bad things as a young man. It was wrong what he did. It was wrong to take any life 'innocent' or otherwise. I am sorry that these two families were left bereaved.
I am referring to the positive direction David Ervine, decided to take when he left prison. This cannot have been an easy decision. I believe this personal change of direction saved many lives.
Best wishes from the Belfast Castlereagh hills.
