Every word she said resonated with me, and even hit a little too close to home (although 10 years sober in two months!!). Portugal DID legalize every single drug and it ended up working BEAUTIFULLY to reduce drug addiction because it IS a public health issue. They decriminalized everything in 2001, and they've had twenty years of success-- why haven't other countries caught on?
@@Feminazi1dc I'm not an expert on the issues, but from what I understand the successful decriminalisation programs have been paired with major investment in public health, so addicts aren't thrown in jail but they are required to attend rehab programs where they get free high quality mental health counselling and are supervised to reduce their dose. They also have access to public housing and other support programs. Crazy, here read this :Disco has its roots in the underground club scene. During the early 1970s in New York City, disco clubs were places where oppressed or marginalized groups such as gay people, African Americans, Latinos, Italian Americans, and Jews could party without following male to female dance protocol or exclusive club policies. Discothèques had a law where for every three men, there was one woman. The women often sought these experiences to seek safety in a venue that embraced the independent woman - with an eye to one or more of the same or opposite sex or none. Although the culture that surrounded disco was progressive in dance couples, cross-genre music, and a push to put the physical over the rational, the role of female bodies looked to be placed in the role of safety net.[47] It brought together people from different backgrounds.[48] These clubs acted as safe havens for homosexual partygoers to dance in peace and away from public scrutiny. Just wiki it and you will learn how to spell it and realise that that is what we used to call clubs.

Sure, it's true, but the majority of addicts I have known are people trying to get by and their addiction has gotten out of control before they can even realize it. Addicts need help, not jail. Think of all the money that would be saved if we worked to help addicts instead of imprisoning them...
She’s so damn intelligent. I wish they would’ve laughed less and listened more. Like when she mentions legalizing all drugs and he says “maybe not all of them.” No… she really means all of them. You can tell she wanted to be a little serious in some moments. She even says “google it.” There are statistics that proves everything she’s saying. Not rotting in a cage and permanently destroying their psyche and ability to have a successful career/life.

Yeah taking advice from a guy (as talented and brilliant though he may be) that died at 27 due to drug use probably isn't the best idea. While I agree that many drugs should be legalised and that the war on drugs should be turned into a public health issue, many drugs are extremely harmful to the human body and should remain illegal like heroin and ice etc.
I don't think here in Portugal drugs are legal ahahahah BUT u don't go to jail for using them it that's what Katya meant (u only go to jail if you're the dealer). we also have groups of people who volunteer to give condoms, sterilized needles and such to people who use on the streets.

@@lostalone9320 I will have to disagree with your last statement. Visit a rehab, or stop in an AA/NA meeting. I know plenty of people who got hooked and progressed after having a valid opioid prescription.
@@lostalone9320 This is a well-known phenomenon, especially over the past decade. You not hearing about it just proves your ignorance, not that it's not a "thing."
Everything Katya just said are some of the reasons I'm voting Bernie Sanders for president! 👍🏼 end the war on drugs!
Lost Alone 😢
speed, weed, and booze.... oh no. that's my exact formula for going out and being social at the club..... katya don't read me like this.
she and russell brand gotta get together and talk
oh to be a fly on that wall.
Spooky Cloaks She's too smart for him gurl
yea she needs to put him in his place
lady red's laughter in the background... ❤️
Mannnnn honestly hearing her say she started with adderall and weed and had to drink to talk to people hits just a little too close to home. I just started taking adderall for my adhd this year and had been considering trying weed because it’s legal where I live. And pretty much the only use alcohol has to me is to help me talk to people thanks to my social anxiety, because otherwise I think it’s gross and don’t see the appeal of drinking lmao. I know it really is all about being aware of what you’re doing and exercising self control and moderation but as someone with a highly addictive personality it’s just... something to think about
I love katya so much. I do drugs just for the same reasons she described, i already related to her on account of having herpes...she is so fucking brave and beautiful, she inspires me every day🖤
Why is he like, missing her jokes and making the same joke lol
such a heavy topic on Hey QWEEN. AND it was amaazing. Jonny you are diving into Barbara Walters waters with the tough questions. :).. also Katya, you're just always my crazy, funny, uber smart, comedy queens. :)
I just love Katya..she is so intelligent and thoughtful. As an addict myself, I agree that it should be a public health issue and not a legal issue. And she is spot on-the "faces of meth" and other propaganda is way out of touch. Sure, it's true, but the majority of addicts I have known are people trying to get by and their addiction has gotten out of control before they can even realize it. Addicts need help, not jail. Think of all the money that would be saved if we worked to help addicts instead of imprisoning them...
Love u katyaaaaaa u make meee cry with laughter!
NO ONE should be in prison for 10+ years on non-violent drug charges. Rehabilitation is what helps people. Not rotting in a cage and permanently destroying their psyche and ability to have a successful career/life.
Shes smart, and funy and simply motivating ♡♡♡
I want her full biography with all her crazy stories
its true, im form portugal and all drugs are legal to use, but not to sell, you can carry a little amount of any drug and claim it to be for your own use
i loooooove katya. she's so smart 🖤
My boyfriend and I love Katya! Willam and Trixie too. We imagine that they are our cool neighbors who have bisexual adventures with us .. lol 😆
Been to Amsterdam twice & shes absolutely correct. They legalized all drugs & the crime rate went to zero & everyone is happy & almost everyone rides bikes. Easily One of the best countries in the world!
It’s impressive how the issues are similar in Brazil, USA and other countries. Totally agree with Katya: drug use is a matter of public health not public safety. Katya, you have my vote girl (if you were a candidate and if I lived in the US but thats a different subject)
The war on drugs kills people. She speaks truth that we need to treat addiction/substance abuse as a mental health issue.
Katy’s is correct. It’s called the Portugal Study. Give it a look if y’all are interested.
My college experience: 1) work study plus another part time job to get through college in 4 years; 2) caring for sick parents while doing #1; 3) graduated in 4 years and immediately began working full time to earn a pension and benefits. Looking forward to full retirement and paid health benefits before I’m 60. But her college years sound much more fun than mine😹😹😫👠💋💋
And 4 years later, Dr. Carl Hart is highlighting the propaganda of the war on drugs and the inequity of drug use. Its surprising and impressive that Katya openly discussed such a controversial
Katya is so intelligent
Love to see people use their platforms to support harm reduction
my spirit animal
I absolutely adore Katya. When I think of Katya, I always think of Jackie Curtis. My Goddesses.
well shit Katya knows what the fuck she's talking about. I love that she said it shouldn't be a war on drugs. that is so true. it's an addition not something that u should be punished for!
I do agree with Katya for the most part, but Portugal did not legalize drugs... it’s decriminalized which is a different thing. They deal with it in a lot better way but it is not legalized
Wow adderall weed and booze is my go to base combo as well, works great
Thank you, Katya! Thank you!
I love Katya she knows what’s up
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, my sexuality is Katya.
speed, weed & booze is definitely a holy trinity
Fr I love Katya even more now as these 3 are my go-to combo for getting fucked up haha. Didn't know I had so much in common with her!
kayta you are so right? It's a health issue not jail Funny other presidents are moving to that direction. As for Tina, well bitch gets a bad rep. the same goes for blow. War on Drugs are just a joke. Help people not continue to destroy them. An addict might need help. As Jimmy Hendrix once said, "we only live one life and we all die. Let me live my life and let me die my way"
alter BOY but I don't think Jimi died how he wanted to. Aspirating on your own vomit isn't a great way to go.
Katya is so on the ball about this. People who abuse crystal absolutely do not all look like the propaganda pics that you see.
I don't think here in Portugal drugs are legal ahahahah BUT u don't go to jail for using them it that's what Katya meant (u only go to jail if you're the dealer). we also have groups of people who volunteer to give condoms, sterilized needles and such to people who use on the streets.
Just realised why I love Katya so much - we've lived identical lives! Fucking Soul Sista!!!
We love you Katya
She’s so intelligent but she’s also insane, I love her. 😍
Did anyone else cry laugh at the whole Melania trump thing. That was so funny.
You Are Bloody Fantastic Hey Qween
“That’s a perfect triangle”
I'm with Katya just legalize everything, people are gonna do drugs no matter what that's their prerogative. So you might as well just make it legal and tax it. Boom!!! Economy fixed.
All good points
4 years later and drugs are legal or decriminalized in Oregon.
Portugal did legalize drugs and their drug rates went down. I know it seems weird but criminalizing drugs doesn't really help society.
Who is Barbra?
Lady Red ❤️
Me with ADHD : DOING METH FEELS LIKE MY MEDICATION!
Yeah it's an amphetamine
The whole tooth rot thing scares me which is why I never partook in drugs. Maybe that’s why season 4 drag queens had them teeth
