  • Rain Jet Corporation of Burbank, CA introduced the pendulum action sprinkler in 1953. In this video we are featuring the 73C version of that brass pop up sprinkler along with a couple of accessories. We use the wrench Rain Jet sold to tighten the spindle inside the sprinkler body and the 7011FA 3/4” brass flow adjuster, which was meant to be used under each sprinkler in a row of sprinklers on a lateral to balance their flow.
I hope you enjoy this video, and thanks for watching!

Nice Rain Jet spray head, great coverage and pattern. Neat system to be able to control the flow for each head.

Nice video of the Rain Jet! I have always found them intriguing to watch. There Designs’s are pretty amazing to me and very effective.
I have not ever seen the flow regulator before, but it does make perfect sense. I do believe that Rain Jet made quite a wide variety of patterns and GPM’s to choose from and for sure they were usually spaced further apart than the normal 10’ spray head spacing. Thanks Bill for sharing!

NEAT! I love Rain Jet, they're my favorite. These running at full blast make a vibration, I wonder if this ever had an effect on earth worms, and or any other underground insects and animals.

Good question. The pipe, the valves, sprinklers, etc all vibrate with the motion of water in them.

Ahhh - the fantastic RainJet! The full circle heads were some of my favorite. Growing up, we had quite a few RainJet heads in our system, my dad was a big believer in the RainJet system. It’s really too bad that Toro would end up acquiring them only to shelve the technology.

Very cool sprinkler! The pattern it gives off reminds me kind of a Senningner Wobbler. They were supposed to be like natural rain. A very good choice for crop irrigation. They were low pressure sprinklers meaning you didn't need a big pump to operate them. I've seen some on top of pivots and hanging upside down for getting close to the crop. That gets a pretty decent area too. I like the flow regulator. Pivots use psi regulators to account for elevation changes that can cause differences in application rates. They put them on all the low pressure sprinklers so each sprinkler gets the same application rate. Not to mention to keep the pressure constant so the booster pump doesn't have to work so hard to keep the end gun going. Rain jet is something i'm starting to hear more about from you and others in the group. I am not sure if I had ever heard of them when I was a kid though. Also the wobblers is a good choice for irrigating lawns or gardens because they are as gentle as natural rain and you dont want to have the heavy water of a impact on your delicate plants. I like how the assembly just screws into the base and that the regulator is adjustable. Thank you for sharing!

I can honestly say that’s the first time I’ve been asked in my long life. So, I’ve never given it any thought before, but in case it’s a serious question, no, no I don’t.
