The more I'm seeing about the tech of the Scout, the more impressed I am. They are really putting in some thought and effort to make it useful, intuitive, and well integrated. I expected it to be very bare bones, at a level that was probably going to be a slight detriment. Really good video!
I am really interested to see how this whole Scout thing is going to pan out. These two vehicles look fantastic. Lots of nods to heritage International Scouts, especially with the Traveler SUV. A total gut shot to Rivian because the MSRP of these is claimed to be a notable bit lower than what they offer. Sad thing is that these are at least two years away. A lot can happen in two years with the competition. Great video, guys. Keep them coming!
I mean side not that this'll compete with the R2 and R3 which will come in around the 45k pricepoint (as far as we know). The R1S is not a direct competitor and is more a luxery SUV. Still super excited for the Scout
Nice little tid bit about the harvester being able to switch on and off. I hope they let us get a little more granular on the settings. Great work Gents. Enjoy the rest of the trip.
I'm imagining it's a lot like the Wrangler 4xe and the Hybrid, Electric and E Save modes. Hybrid and Electric modes are self explanatory, but E Save has two modes. One where it tries to just save the battery by driving with the ICE, and charge where it will actually charge the battery.
It's more about the angle of the sun with the roof open. And camera angle. We have the whole thing shot from a different angle and we'll probably post that too at some point. Make sure you're subbed!
I mean, anybody buying this vehicle for the trades would be better served by a transit van instead. Dropping the tailgate down gives you the length you would want for the target sales demographic that likes to imagine going to Home Depot on the weekend, but in reality would hire out any actual work. Plenty of bed space for a golf bag or suitcases to get to the airport which is nice. Do I wish you could buy a reasonably priced simple work truck? Of course. But that's a legal problem in the US (absurd chicken tax) and not a Scout problem in fairness.
Not just plywood, these smaller beds don't fit any ATV (used to fit a Honda in my Ram with the gate up), even my new Canyon Denali bed is so small I can't carry bikes in the bed, need to use a hitch rack. I get it that so many people need seating for 4 people, 2 dogs and a cat for their offroad adventures, but it would be nice if there were a 2-door ext cab version with a 6-ft bed.
Really appreciate the video. I reserved the same one you guys did and the new information is just making me even more excited about putting in my order when I did.
Can't wait for my Traveler Harvester to arrive! They have the best ideas and minds working on our @Scout Motors vehicles. Clearly, so much effort going into the launch vehicles, to get it right, out of the gate!
Excellent interview with Mr. Nelson. A few thoughts: 1. The camera bar on the dash is brilliant as is the ability to swipe the screen left to right. Detox mode is well thought out. Camera under the vehicle to see terrain...nice! 2. Too many buttons for my taste but many will like the familiarity. 3. I'm not a fan of ICE and EV. Unnecessary added complexity but many will want it. In 2-3 years pure EVs will have 500-600 miles of range....which is when the Terra is supposed to start production (2027). But unlike the RamCharger whose engine runs all the time, you can apparently turn the generator off. Nice. 4. Should have a camp mode and vehicle leveling like Rivian. 5. NACS and direct sales to consumers...thanks. 6. Wish they would incorporate onX or GAIA.
Couple of thoughts. Ramcharger DEFINITELY has EV only mode with the generator off. Really wished we had asked more about a "camp mode". One item we noticed was that in off-road mode, the navigation was showing terrain details and listed several trails and trailheads, so I'm thinking they intend their own version of Gaia/on capability
Awesome Truck! I hope they integrate some kind step in tailgate like ford or leading GMC multipro Gate (The best).. Also, please Provide option for centre console instead of bench seat…
I dislike the start stop button being on the wheel. Also seems strange to have a dial around that button. Just to many opportunities to accidentally push the start stop button in that location and having a dial incorporated with it.
@@makyr01 Might be for the ICE extender, if there is an issue with the battery (to far away from charger, or some other issue) you could still start the gas motor to drive the truck.
I appreciate the nostalgia of the bench seat, there appears to be no bolstering and it doesn’t look very comfortable whatsoever. The flattened top and bottom of the steering wheel sucks as well but I guess that’s something you just have to get used to.
Really like that spare tire carrier on the traveler......which I have reserved. So glad they have a std. steel roof option. The wood trim in the Terra doesn't look good to me......looks strange. The guy in the traveler needs a microfiber towel to clean the dash. 😄
The exterior design is fantastic. The interior of the truck looks fantastic too. I like the physical controls and the way the screens are built in. I don’t quite get the rag top on either vehicle. Doesn’t seem very practical to me.
@ I’m not an off-roader so maybe its outside of my understanding. No issues with losing heat in the winter? I’d wonder about long term reliability. I’ve only seen that sort of thing on cars the fiat 500.

Even the designer can’t use the stupid screen. 😂 I know, it’s a prototype, but it underscores the issue with these overcomplicated things. That screen is also why I won’t have a sunroof on my vehicle: you can’t see it on a sunny day. At least these have buttons and knobs for the important stuff. My neighbor has a Rivian, which is cool, but everything is controlled via a giant iPad on the dash. He basically sets his controls and leaves them, which is fine until you want to turn the seat heaters on or off, then you have to wait till you get to a stoplight. It’s easy to miss the control while driving, and you have to take your eyes off the road to do anything more complex. Buttons and knobs save lives. Other than that, this design looks good. The wood panels in the truck look weird, like wormy driftwood.
We heard enough today to think they may come into the market with extremely competitive pricing. 2025 is probably the year a lot of manufacturers start to converge ICE and BEV pricing, so by the time Scout comes to market they'll need to be squarely aimed at their competitive set with price, think between Bronco and GX
What's going to be the country of manufacture country of origin USA? These are the type of vehicles that we need to be producing to compete with the world. Vehicles like we used to make in like the 40s, this has an undeniable American vibe with the bench seat design, and the very traditional, but beautiful and detailed dash. This is what I expected from an Escalade.....
@ROMRreviews awesome. I love to see them make of just a regular sedan, kind of like the new Impala or something for America. Unfortunately our legacy auto makers have lost their way, political and ligitory corporatization has ruined the American Auto industry. When it comes to supply chains and production, once things are decentralized it's almost impossible to reign back in. Some of them may fall by the wayside, but hopefully we will have a wave of American manufacturing that really does bring the actual desired level of tech innovation, usability, affordability, but importantly some identity too. Just imagine if this were like a Lincoln or a Cadillac, with mostly domestic parts content....
I am pessimistically excited. I want to believe these will be a reachable vehicle for people but the recent release of the new VW BuZZ and the ridiculous pricing it came with and comparing the features and capacities being showcased here, I see no way these are going to come in anywhere near where they are saying…
Please make the steering wheel round. The square steering wheel is idiotic. Especially when they are trying to sell themselves as the practical option to all these ridiculously user -unfriendly EVs

Starting MSRP of $50k? I guarantee it’s not happening unless Scout makes everything optional.
MSRP is $60k before expected incentives lowering to about $50k depending on state/locality/etc. Obv this was before the election.
Nobody wants that big center console. Non utilitarian. Learn from Rivian please.
If that big center console were also, say, a refrigerator and/or a locking safe I'd say that could be utilitarian?
