  • Raffaele Dubbioso, MD, PhD, University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy, discusses sweat disturbance in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He highlights the development of the dynamic sweat test, which is able to measure the number of sweat glands that are activated, as well as sweat output. Patients with ALS tend to have decreased sweat output, and decreased sweat output was also associated with worse prognosis. Dr Dubbioso also discusses the fact that patients with bulbar onset ALS showed higher autonomic burden and had more sudomotor dysfunction compared to those with spinal onset ALS. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) Annual Meeting 2024 in Helsinki, Finland.
