He could have just go for funimation but their demands where high and also the requirement. Since Yu-Gi-Oh could be popular for kids, this means more money for both companies and also Takahashi. As for the cards itself, it won't sell much if specific age is limited. They signed that contract of censorship to be able to sell even to minors without breaking the law. In the end, it's all money even if the anime is intended for teens, having it available for kids too could expand the amount of cash international. It won't be too famous around the world without the censorship just like some anime is limited to view by any audience.

I think they attempted to bring back the more mature theme to it with 5D, but I can't say because I never got a chance to watch it out. But for me battle city will always be the best of them all.

I remember the Harpie Girl change well. Along with the other Harpie card changes. I used to trade my censored Harpie's, (although always keeping one censored one) with the uncensored versions if peeps held any. As an American, I really hate other Americans who think they need to censor everything because they might offend someone or themselves, so having the uncensored versions was always important to me. Also I never noticed the change on the Dark Magician Family cards. So now I have to go back and look.

Alucard Hellsing actually the dub of kai was supposed to be more complete. What I mean is the dub of z missed out on a lot of details n stuff. Kai is more detailed and imo the voice action was better but if you meant the Japanese versions then tbh idk

Oh, and I really like how the pentagrams/hexagrams are replaced by Spellbinding Circles (not that I would mind if they kept the original). It's nice that they keep a standard across cards.

For instance, you have card changes like "Water Omotics" (she WAS completely nude in the Jap version, but was given a detailed blue scale dress in the card), now that is just fine. Not crazy about removing horns + halos, but I do like replacing the pentagrams with spellbinding circle, because it's such a cooler, more magical design.
Honestly, some of the skirt lengthenings, bust reductions, and cleavage erasures were improvements. A lot of the original cards are just so ridiculous that it's distracting. e.g. It's hard to look at Dark Magician Girl without wondering why she's wearing a push-up bra into battle or why all these monsters have chests full of silicone.

I remember the Harpie Girl change well. Along with the other Harpie card changes. I used to trade my censored Harpie's, (although always keeping one censored one) with the uncensored versions if peeps held any. As an American, I really hate other Americans who think they need to censor everything because they might offend someone or themselves, so having the uncensored versions was always important to me.
Also I never noticed the change on the Dark Magician Family cards. So now I have to go back and look.

I agree. Taking out the cleavage and replacing g-strings with shorts or quilts doesn't bother me. And honestly, the Emperor having a shirt on is an improvement. The halos being removed are a mystery to me, though

But the fact that they alter the ankh symbol in Egyptian based cards as the symbol of life, I DON'T understand. What's the point in that? It's not even a religious ordeal, It's just "an ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic ideograph with the meaning 'life'." That throws me for a loop.
Also, why take off the halo, but not the wings that go with the angelic-looking cards? They are gonna censor those types of cards, they are basically saying "Angels are a no-go, but winged monsters are A-OK~" Most of these cards (all of them in my opinion) were stupidly censored because of over-protective adults for a trading card game.

I understand the halos (even though Tom and Jerry and plenty of classic cartoons used them), but why the horns? A lot of animals have horns, not just religious stuff...
Oh, and I really like how the pentagrams/hexagrams are replaced by Spellbinding Circles (not that I would mind if they kept the original). It's nice that they keep a standard across cards.
holonboy Guess I don't mind SOME of them either, but some of the changes are just REALLY sloppy. For instance, you have card changes like "Water Omotics" (she WAS completely nude in the Jap version, but was given a detailed blue scale dress in the card), now that is just fine. BUT when you keep on deciding to just have something plain and dull looking cover something every other time, that's where I start to grow tired of it. Sometimes I wonder if Konami in America is just an "over-protective" bunch of prudes and I should know since I was one of them.

I think yugioh needs another spin off. A much more mature one, it doesnt have to be overly bloody or gross, it just needs to not be so scared of halos and horns and delve into topics much deeper and complex than friendship. Seriously, all these archetypes they make in the cards speak so much about individuality and about human conditions. But the actual shows limit themselves so much. Honestly, some of the skirt lengthenings, bust reductions, and cleavage erasures were improvements. A lot of the original cards are just so ridiculous that it's distracting. e.g. It's hard to look at Dark Magician Girl without wondering why she's wearing a push-up bra into battle or why all these monsters have chests full of silicone.
