god only knows how many variants of the 300 and 500 series yamaha basses i got, codeword is versatility, they go effortlessly from jazz to ugga chugga death metal.. truly amazing products
@@aribuwu eh, depends on your budget, the 500 is a bit higher quality finish and electronics, but for most uses the 300 is more than enough to fulfill even studio musicians, seen plenty of 300s in recording sessions
@@datutturugang666 hmm my only issue with the 300 is that there's no middle knob from what i've seen. is there any way it's gonna impact me if i want to record stuff?
@@aribuwu to be completely frank, no, you can modulate mids by adapting hi and low frequencies, or since you plan onto recording, by adding an Eq to your channel strip
Thanks for the content. I've had my Yamaha bass for years and I was looking to get some information. My bass is a so diverse it covers everthing and was affordable. Great content and appreciated 👊✌️🎸🇦🇺
“If you were to have one bass at your house…” Yupp, that’s precisely how it’s going to be for me. I’ve been using a Yamaha RBX 375 to record for many years, so I’ve basically already decided I’m going to get this one right here as a replacement. 😊
Once you buy a Yamaha, you will always come back to it. At least that's the case with me - I'm buying next week (or so) this beautiful 305, to his older brother Yamaha RBX 170 (which is serving me well the last 15 years in ALL genres)
@@EAplays619Honestly, it's embarassing to mention it, but I got so hammered by work, and other life stuff that I haven't even had much time to dedicate to it, setting it up and putting it through it's paces and all. As it is it's clearly well built, bit clanky and buzzy, but I'm pretty sure that's just a matter of setting it up. One thing to mention, at least with the one I got, it's FUCKING HEAVY. Like....12-13 lbs.
@@SymbolicSplenetic no worries man, life gets busy sometimes. Thank you for your input! The weight seems a bit offputting but if its built right I can overlook that. Thanks, take care.
I was in my local music shop today ordering some SD Quarter-Pounders for my no-name P-Bass and they had one of these trbx305 for like $375 and I gotta say it's realllly tempting. I really only play bass on the side but dang for less than $400 this thing looks sick.
Thanks! It is a heavier bass, but that's because of the extra wood needed to support the 5-string setup. The balance on the guitar is very good, and feels evenly distrubuted. It is very comfortable bass. Probably my favorite Yamaha Bass that isn't an Artist model.
Hi please I have a problem with my low and High end volumes they are causing some scratchy noise ....no wire is detached please wah do I do to fix this problem I use a TRBX305
If I have the volume all the way up on mine, it quickly distorts during recording whenever I play the lowest string (unless I play it a lot softer than the other strings) - even though the gain on the interface is set properly. That’s because the notes on the lowest strings seem to be considerably louder than the notes on the higher strings. Haven’t had that experience with my previous 5-string. Any ideas? Of course, some 5 strings have the opposite problem, where you barely hear the bottom strings at all. It sounds to me like Yamaha tried to compensate for that common issue here, by boosting the lower strings - potentially, they went a little too far with that?
Totally disagree. This is a pretty average dual soap bar pickup set up. The pickup design is nothing like the MM style. Only thing in common is pole pieces exposed. Sure, you may get a close tone with the preamp but it sounds nothing like a stringray

I have had mine for 5 years now and worth the money sound so clean but so mean best money I ever spent.
Wow it looks SO much brighter on video vs the pics online.
Yes, from the high gloss lacquer finish on the body! Looks amazing!

Feels the same weight as my fender jazz 4 string. I wouldn't call it heavy
Yamaha basses rule at any price point.
Should I get this or the BB 235 5 string?

01:59 How much does it weigh?
Do it work without batteries? Picked it up today, but it isn't working with my bass amp
Active pickups always require a battery. And this bass has active pickups.
Active EQ, not active pickups. I have this. It works semi ok without but you can’t use the control knobs for tone shaping without a battery.
219 Blanda Cove
Can i have this particular model tuned to a high 'C' instead of a low' B'
Of course you can. Restring it and set it up.
A working man's Stingray.
Better than Stingray
