"A car that we all share"
You mean a fucking bus?
shush, dont interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake!!
Yeah but Governments hate investing in pubic transport because the auto industry is paying everybody off and selling the dream of needing a car

Look at at when Texas bussed all of those migrants to Martha's Vinyard and all of the millionaires had a weapons grade meltdown about it. @@1_underthesun "Don't forget about the exponential increase in accidents from people constantly driving cars they're unfamiliar with."
That's not the issue.
The issue is that 50% of the cars on the road would be totaled within weeks of enabling this "ride sharing" app, because a small proportion of reckless people would crash them.
Even with the threat of sky-high insurance premiums, loss of the use of their own car, people still drive like absolute nut jobs, tailgating, weaving in and out of traffic, running red lights. Imagine how they'd drive if the car wasn't even theirs, and they thought "I can just get a friend to create an account for me if I get banned".

Singapore didn't reduce total number of cars by "using them smarter". They reduced that number by investing in public transportation and introducing ludicrous taxes for car owners.
Yeah, when she mentioned singapore i was like wtf is she yapping about, singapore is irrelevant to her point.
Hong Kong has such large bus and subway network you can go almost everywhere by public transport. Peachtree City has a road network designed for Golf cars and bicycles. In Amsterdam bicycles are very common and they have Microcars for anyone needed so they won't need to drive regular car instead.
Those rich people are just so narrow that they can't imagine something outside of their way of live.
And the WEF members will be implementing and collecting that tax $
When she was talking about sharing a car that awfully sounded like public transport. Those people don't even know what they are talking about.
Singapore is very small and they have done a great job on public transportation. The issue with a lot of people that push these types of schemes, is they don't want to or are completely unable to provide the funding to build a comprehensive transport network. They push through schemes that make working class people's lives noticeably worse and improve their own.

I've been using shared car renting services for many years now, and I actually enjoy them and its a lot cheaper than owning my own car, not to mention that there are many cars available in my city and I can almost park it anywhere. In this case, a company owns all the cars and you can just rent it and use it with an app. Its super easy, super comfortable and most of the cars are electric too. Never had any issues with it.
Car sharing is quite popular in Germany, but the issue is that they are often fully booked, making it difficult to find a car without scheduling in advance. These shared cars do help alleviate the traffic problems she mentioned, but they are provided by companies rather than individual.
She would never share her own car. This is for the poors.

I don't like sharing things with people because many people don't know how to take care of things. People leave things in terrible condition. For example, my housing association has a free laundry room, but the washing machines are in such terrible condition because the residents don't clean up after themselves. One washing compartment was moldy because it was so clogged with washing liquid and textile residues.
I bought my own washing machine and I am happy to own it.

A lot of them probably don't own cars since they would just hire a car and driver for it on demand at several hundred $$$ each time.

I'm not sure what Singapore she is referring to, but the Singapore I live in is reducing the car density simply by raising the prices of the COE's (basically a licence you need to buy from the government to operate a car) and pricing out the majority of the population of owning a private vehicle and making a profit on it.

You also notice that your steering is misaligned for some reason, and your clutch seems slippery because someone drove it extremely badly and burnt out your clutch. Your car is now much much closer to needing an oil change, someone did a long distance on it that day. Your tires also are getting close to needing to be replaced, someone did a burnout on it.
