@@nonyabisness6306 the difference is that your vehicle is YOUR vehicle. Your home is YOUR home. they want to blur the line so that private ownership doesn't exist at all--unless you are exempt from sharing, which you know 100% the woman in this video would be. Look at at when Texas bussed all of those migrants to Martha's Vinyard and all of the millionaires had a weapons grade meltdown about it. If people can be taken from their apartments in a low-income city to house illegal migrants, why can't millionaires not let those same migrants live in their summer home?

Kind of interesting to use Singapore as an example, since the reason there's so 'few' cars are because it is a paid lottery to be able to own a car where you can buy a certicate for 10 years or so for S$100.000-150.000. Then you've only got the right to buy a car. After that you need to pay a hefty importers fee to buy a car. It is an old system that works since the country is small with a well functioning transit system. Nothing of what she said relates to "smart sharing".

Driving down the road in a mini Cooper for the first time and spending 2 straight minutes trying to figure out how to roll down the window because you don't know the window controls aren't anywhere on the door, but rather in the center console. Multiply that by 100 for every function of every car.

@@1_underthesun "Don't forget about the exponential increase in accidents from people constantly driving cars they're unfamiliar with."
      That's not the issue.
The issue is that 50% of the cars on the road would be totaled within weeks of enabling this "ride sharing" app, because a small proportion of reckless people would crash them.
Even with the threat of sky-high insurance premiums, loss of the use of their own car, people still drive like absolute nut jobs, tailgating, weaving in and out of traffic, running red lights. Imagine how they'd drive if the car wasn't even theirs, and they thought "I can just get a friend to create an account for me if I get banned".
What teaches those people to stop driving like idiots is the price they pay by wrecking their own car and having no way to get to work. Take that away, and they'll just run around wrecking all the cars.
Not to mention, you'd be a fool to own a nice car. Because the 18 year old morons will "reserve" it and immediately crash it doing 150 on the freeway.

This means even if someone might not actualy need a car they would still buy one for the few times they actualy need it. She compared it to how convinient it would be, if you could instead share a car more easily, as easy as 'just taking your neighbours car'. This would eliminate the need to buy a car for many people which would safe money, ressources and space. I don't know if you have seen those e-scooter rental services. The concept is similar to it just with cars. They even talked about the issues e-scooters have with being parked on sidewalks and how they ruin the cityscape in some countries. A lot of the people at the top are quite religious nutters I guess you could say. They believe that as long as they inform you in some way of what they are doing or the path they are leading you on that it absolves them of any wrongdoing and or bad karma.

Oh, she doesn't know humans. It would be so much fun getting out of work, extremely tired, just wanting to go home and sleep, checking that your car was shared 15 times in that day and made you $30 bucks, but it's now with a huge dent on one side, all wheels scraped, suspension broken, full of trash inside, some random kid puked in the back seat, someone burnt out a cigarette on the inner roof, dog poop on the rear seat, spilled soup all over the trunk, a broken radio knob, some suspect sticky substance on the steering wheel, smoke smell and ashes all over the car. You also notice that your steering is misaligned for some reason, and your clutch seems slippery because someone drove it extremely badly and burnt out your clutch. Your car is now much much closer to needing an oil change, someone did a long distance on it that day. Your tires also are getting close to needing to be replaced, someone did a burnout on it.
You get in your car, you drive home hating your life, and use the $30 bucks that the car made you to buy a big mac and some shitty chips, and go cry in bed.
No one would ever share their car, if they did, it would only happen once, trust me. This woman would quickly forget this idea if she tried sharing the car in some neighborhoods.
