FINALLY someone has described this perfectly! As someone who has a tendency to want everyone I meet to like me, i absolutely get this.

THIS! When I was in college, I ended up staying with a guy for 3 years simply because I was low-key ADDICTED to the feeling of him liking me. He was this really hot guy, and when he first told me he had a crush on me I couldn't believe someone like him could be attracted to lil' ole me. I felt so LUCKY when we officially started dating and I felt so GOOD whenever he would introduce me to people as HIS gf. For me it just felt so awesome to be WANTED, specially by someone like HIM. It was only after 3 years in our relationship that I was able to sit down and seriously self-reflect and that's when I realized I didn't really like him much as a person (he has a lot of questionable views regarding political issues, and I think he was low-key a Trump fan 😱) and I was simply staying with him because my ego enjoys the feeling of a super-hot guy liking me. I broke up with him soon after that.
If you are out from a toxic or bad relationship, date a Joe... from what I see Joe is an endgame kind of person. Niamh and Taylor can relate skskskks....

About 18 years ago I was on tour with my band playing with the legendary ROOTS crew, Erykah Badu, etc...and I had been dating my boyfriend for about a year.. I had only ever dated men who were jealous types. When he flew out to watch one of my shows and I told him I'd be busy and not to feel bad if I only had a little personal time to share he said, no problem:) Then brought me flowers and I could see him in the crowd smiling the entire time, watching every moment. After my show I had to be in NY for an early radio spot...I was nervous when I told him I was glad he came to see me but told him I had to go to my hotel and go right to sleep. He gave me a big hug and kiss and said, "Baby, don't feel bad. You need your rest..and I'm so proud that you're my lady!" And we went our own ways until I returned home a month later. We just had our fifteen year wedding anniversary...he has only made my life better and NEVER, EVER held me down or not trusted me. Now I certainly don't know but these two seem to have that thing where they just fit!! They make sense. I'm praying for the best future for you two...gorgeous couple! God Bless!
