Same here, if it wasn't for support of the OS running out I would have kept it. I got the Note 10 plus 5g to get me by for a while, don't like it nearly as much. The fingerprint reader in the screen sucks, the speakers are more scratchy and tinny sounding, the buttons moved all to one side or harder to use, the camera starts up slower and is more slowly to focus and lock in, and the 5G is actually slower than 4G was on the note 9. I have a black one. Bought one to use for light gaming, movies, music, etc. Unfortunately, the display has an issue where it looks blurry and washed out when turning on the display. I found a work around by using always on display. Other than that it serves as a nice device for your liking.
This Note 9, the 10+, and the 20 Ultra are the best 3 phones Samsung has ever made. I've owned the 9 & 10+. Still use the 9 for a work phone. I don't run it hard, but when I've needed it to perform as a full backup, it's done everything I've needed it to. Still. Can't believe they don't atleast give 2 or 3 security updates a year to it, considering it has among the best biometrics of any phone ever. Crazy good phone. One of the best 180$ I've ever spent about 3 yrs ago.
Note 20 ultra was kind of The last of an era because it was the last note ever technically by name. But even if you count the s22 ultra and onward doesn't know to which basically is... It was the last one with an SD card support. That came with the charger in the box. S20 FE was the last Samsung flagship at all to have an SD card and a charger in the box. Getting rid of those with an absolute ball breaker I think especially the expandable storage. It's a de facto price increase because now when you buy a Samsung you really have to double up on the storage at the point of purchase
Even after all these years the Note 9 is still the best Note Samsung ever made. Yes, it is not getting software support anymore but it still holds up. The sunlight legibility is still impressive and for a 60 hz phone, it still runs good.

Good review. The note 9 has a headphone Jack and SD slot which the Samsung did away. Is this worth getting, plus changing out the battery for around $300?
The s9 note has a multicore geekbench 6 score of 1815 which is lower than even an A24 which has a score of 1941. I agree that older flagships are usually better than midrangers, but not ones that are more than like 5 years older. For somebody in this price range, I'd suggest going for an A34 (been using one for the last few weeks, and it's the best phone I've had).
My current phone is the note 9 its really really good the problem is had it since forever. Battery aint the same anymore, Sometimes having problems reading data on the SD card , Bixby button fell down the screen has a crack on the side . But ever phone in the market seems like a downgrade. I wanna get the Note20Ultra5g but i cant find a new one
I’m not sure if it was with the USA Note 9, but I think I remember trying to find ROMs, and there weren’t any available, possibly because the bootloader was locked. Samsung has made it harder to flash custom ROMs. I’m uncertain if they are implementing the same restrictions on newer phones. I’ve been researching custom ROMs for quite some time now.
As long as you use some common sense and don't click on random sites, download shady apps, or do anything stupid you should be fine. If you are worried about security or have a lot of banking apps, important personal data, or work related information on your phone then you could just upgrade to a newer phone.
Yeah....still Samsung's most completed phone. Imagine Samsung making a budget device with the exact external dimensions as the Note 9....S-Pen included. If Apple was able to do that with the 2020 and 2022 versions of the SE, I'm sure Samsung can do this too.
I forgot but I think the battery in the memory are also better on the Note 9. I started out with the S9 and plus but after carefully considering pros and cons, the note 9 was the best and worth the extra money size and weight
nope the galaxy note 10+ was the best flagship phone still using it today..the only problem is no more samsung updates..so changing to 24 ultra now with 7 years samsung updates so my next phone will be the 31ultra
I went from a note 9 to a note 10 plus 5G and regret almost everything about it. The updated Android version sucks compared to the older one it's buggy, unnecessarily complicated, not as smooth as and fast, the speakers are worse and sound more scratchy and annoying, apps like boldbeast audio and phone recorder stopped working on the new Android, it feels worse in the hand, the fingerprint reader on the back was far more quick and reliable on the Note 9, the button layout was better, and 4G internet on the note 9 was faster than this 5G on my Note 10 plus. Also the camera loaded and focus faster on the note 9. About the only thing better I can think of on the Note 10 is it has an ultra wide camera which is useful sometimes if you need it. Otherwise I'm disappointed in it and don't feel it wasn't upgraded at all except for feeling the need of keeping up with the security updates
@@7x779I went from a note 8 & iPhone 8+ to a 13 pro max and I regret everything about it too. The internet was faster on the note, data speeds were wayyyy faster, websites take less long to load on it for some reason, even when I’m using 5g, & it gets hot. Sometimes my note 8 took better pictures the iPhone oversharpens photos & I prefer the selfie camera on the note better because it doesn’t apply this effect that makes my face look darker then it is. With the note, it didn’t do that it just stayed natural but yet saturated which I didn’t mind but sometimes it would make my skin tone too bright, I think the note 9 fixed it a little since it’s been updates and updates since then, my note 8 was on android 9. The note 9 is on android 10 so I assume they fixed that. Everything was just better overall on the note, except for the refresh rate. The cameras on the iPhone are better a couple of times, but it’s not like night and day better to me I’ve seen some shots I’ve taken on my note 8 even the ones that are at 9mp, look comparable to my iPhone. I like them better because they nail the focus while on the iPhone I have to constantly tap to focus and it’s really annoying. Saving up for the galaxy note 9 now, ima try to get one brand new with a new battery, I saw one on Mercari and hopefully by October or November it’ll still be there.
not really note10plus 60hz is faster than iphone 12 promax 60hz. so anything between note 9 s10plus,note10plus has fast 60hz. note 9 might be a tad slower due to its optimization and chipset but my point is i put my note 10plus ,note20u and s23u on 60hz because its thats fast and smooth already the only problem for me is the touch sampling rate. on gaming i felt like i had to double tap on note 10plus but thats on specific game
II trade in my note 9 a month ago for the s24 ultra and I'm missing it every day since. This new s24 ultra is just a good camera but other than that everything else is a loose. The screen is worse (call me crazy but I compared them side by side for a week). The ergonomic is worse. The fingerprint is worse. The face recognition is worse. The speaker is better. And I loose the headphone jack. The expandable storage. The tap to pay. The notification LED. The extra configurable Bixby button. Etc. This new one is just a good camera with updated software. Is a 💩
As someone who is currently using the Note 9. I have to say it does need a patch for the RUclips app. All other apps work just fine but with youtube I am starting to have a issue with the on screen keyboard being delayed when typing or just not typing at at all. This happen almost always when I am trying to type in RUclips shorts. And also when I do get it to type it doesn't see to allow me to edit the comment as the keyboard once again freezes and the popup that says "continue to edit or discard comment" pops up. So it definintely needs a patch for this but unfortunately I don't think we will get it.
And automatically assuming the battery degraded is nonsense. I have been using the Note 9 since release year with heavy use and it still gets me through most of the day. Stop making assumptions about the battery without actually testing it out. There is no need to replace the battery in most of these phones that was released after year 2015. They put pretty good batteries in them. The only issue you may find with battery is that at a lower percentage such as at 10% and below, the battery starts to drain faster than normal, but the battery still mostly get you through the day full when at full charge
Someone just tested the screen on time of the s24 ultra and iphone 15 pro and they died a little after the 6 hour mark. If you estimated about 5 hours of screen on time with this that is more than enough and the battery likely didn't degrade as that is a much smaller battery in that phone. There is zero need to replace the battery.

@@peterparker2068only the Exynos version of the Note 9 has an option to install custom roms
@@tobiramasenju3425 Thanks for the info. That's what I heard about the exynos version.
This was the best one. Fingerprint scanner in the middle of the back and headphone jack... SD card.
What else is needed?
Iris scanner?..
snapdragon 845 still faster than nintendo switch v2/oled chipset 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Do you see it being any issue or risk using it as your main phone for everything in 2024 without being able to get security updates?
As long as you use some common sense and don't click on random sites, download shady apps, or do anything stupid you should be fine. If you are worried about security or have a lot of banking apps, important personal data, or work related information on your phone then you could just upgrade to a newer phone.
@@peterparker2068 thanks for the response
I’m not worried
Guys what is the maximum operating system on it ????
Can it goes to android 12????
No it's on Android 10 no more updates 😢
You can install custom ROM
Yeah....still Samsung's most completed phone. Imagine Samsung making a budget device with the exact external dimensions as the Note 9....S-Pen included.
If Apple was able to do that with the 2020 and 2022 versions of the SE, I'm sure Samsung can do this too.
Great video matt the s9 plus is equivalent to the note 9 right performance wise minus the s pen?
Yes
I forgot but I think the battery in the memory are also better on the Note 9. I started out with the S9 and plus but after carefully considering pros and cons, the note 9 was the best and worth the extra money size and weight
funny newer budget and mid range phones are implimentimg curved displays. it backwards now😂😂😂
Custom roms fix the biggest problem with this phone. Lack of software updates.
Had one for over 4 years an it was very good until it fell and broke the screen in November... I'm thinking of getting and upgrade soon
Absolutely excellent wonderful beautiful & all round banger......🎉❤
I am using one, it's holding up real good tbh
Hey Matt! Where i get that awesome wallpaper?
Liveloop app
Thanks a million!!
I have a note 8 the screen is cracked but i use it just to search things online
Very beautiful piece of device❤❤❤
The note 8 was Samsungs best of all time bro. (For the time obviously) actually, s8 and s8 plus were for the revolutionary design.
nope the galaxy note 10+ was the best flagship phone still using it today..the only problem is no more samsung updates..so changing to 24 ultra now with 7 years samsung updates so my next phone will be the 31ultra
I'm upgrading from note 9 to get either a lg v60 or samsung s21 ultra
S21 Ultra would definitely be the best choice
@@AlvinStauffer-j5d Agreed 👍🏽
If you're super boring, get that v60 baby!
high refresh rate is the standard for most of the smartphone today
not really note10plus 60hz is faster than iphone 12 promax 60hz. so anything between note 9 s10plus,note10plus has fast 60hz. note 9 might be a tad slower due to its optimization and chipset but my point is i put my note 10plus ,note20u and s23u on 60hz because its thats fast and smooth already the only problem for me is the touch sampling rate. on gaming i felt like i had to double tap on note 10plus but thats on specific game
Can you do an update on the lg v50 thinq
Currently on my Note 9 util next week 😢 S24 Ultra 😮
Can i safely install note 10 factory firmware on a note 9 phone?
Note 4 was peak
The Note 9 still costs about $700 in my country.
Wow..what country
Where to get this wallpaper
Quero saber onde achou esse papel de parede, eu amei!
I just got the note 9 over a refurbished note 20 ultra due to having the pulse oximeter.
I really liked my note 9
How to get the wallpaper
I still have my note 20 ULTRA 512 GB
Hello, i want to use this music but i can't find it ;(
II trade in my note 9 a month ago for the s24 ultra and I'm missing it every day since.
Is a 💩
I miss mst on Samsung pay.
Note 9 i far much better than note 10. Unless you say note 10 plus. But not the 10
Im tryna sell my note 9 512gb in ocean blue and its mint, but nobody wants it😂
I use this currently 😂
There not making Galaxy note anymore
👍👍👍👍
I miss thing samsung. Giving you more for youre money!
You need to reset the phone work like new for me hopefully for you
Yeah i have the same issue in my note 9

Haha legend
please pin me or else...
thank you :)
I wonder having an 120hz display drains the battery faster.
Thank you very much @matthews-tech for the updated review of the Samsung Note 9! still valid in 2024!!
👍😬👍
Where did you get this phone? Is it brand new?
