If anyone is wondering why Koraidon uses legs instead of wheels is cuz it’s supposed to be a lizard pretending to be a bike and Miraidon is supposed to be a bike pretending to be a lizard :)
If they had went with only color change for Terra Types, they would lose accessibility for color blind people, they needed some kind of ecognizable shape. They probably went for the oversized hats because they thought it would be funny instead of something more subtle. There's probably something about readability in a double battle too.
This is exactly the thing. If you have a machenic that drastically changing the status quo then it has to be very visible. Megas has their entire look changed and while it didn't give info on the new typing those could be learnt. For this where any one pokemon can become any other type it has to be bloody obvious. A simple aura isn't enoiugn becusee again color blind. Or a pallet change doesn't help on pokemon with very few colors like Gengar Yes the hats are goofy. Yes they are comically large. But you clearly know what each is by a glance regardless of color. Their sillouette alone would tell you
For Scarlet vs Violet I feel completely the opposite way. When I found out Koraidon didn’t use wheels and saw its run animation, I decided I loved that derpy lizard :’)
"I sent u a text." Man I love seeing how mikey and Grunty boi's relationship evolved. From breaking into the shower to now texting each other and going on camping trips.
I'm actually choosing Scarlett, because I love the legendary a lot more. And I think the reason it uses its legs instead of the"tire" is that it's just an inflatable sack, so you wouldn't be able to ride on it anyway. And then the future version of it they made it robotic so you could write on it.
tbh with Scarlet & Violet coming out in just 2 months, we don't know what the full roster is in terms of new pokemon, how many pokemon made the cut and who got the axe (for now), which mons are version exclusive among others
I usually pick the Pokemon games that lean towards the color blue (hence I have had Moon, Sword, and Brilliant Diamond, so I'll probably go with violet since it's the closest to blue
@@gavinwilson5895 blue is my favorite color too, I often lean towards legendaries in that color scheme more than others. I’m sure someone has commented on this, but Koraidon (idk spelling) and Miraidon (again idk man) are designed as a inverse camouflage idea. Koraidon is a lizard who has evolved to have tire looking markings for when the tail curls up, and an inflating pouch/sack on its chest. These are a common defense mechanism, inflating the pouch to appear larger and more intimidating(something I often see in my brother’s temperamental bearded dragon). Miraidon is a robotic entity (presumably lab created like castform or porygon) who is programmed and designed to have lizard like features (the eyes, markings, etc.). Brilliant Diamond was my first playthrough through Sinnoh, so I approached it for that, but Legends: Arkoos is just such a better game in every way. And it’s a high bar. I think that it might be the best Pokémon game ever made.
As someone who usually enjoys a pokemon game, no matter how much people comment on how bad it is, bdsp is the one game I felt disappointed throughout my whole playthrough. I tried to make it fun for myself like choosing a new team but just seeing every choice they made, the battles, animations, just everything made me dislike it so much its probably one of my least favorites with rby.
@@lilli7040 I mean, BD/SP was made as an introduction to Pokemon for players that haven't either played at least one RPG in their lives (so newbies) or players that had only played the mobile games. It is also the best way to play the D/P (not Platinum) story.
Correct me if im wrong, but i feel like theres a certain point in pokemon games where stat boosting doesnt matter because levels are too high. I dont play competitively, i pretty much train my pokemon to look like the Rock
Stat Boosting is Multiplicative, not additive. Each boost step is 0.5x, so "sharply increased" doubles your stat. The maximum is 4x, which means that Belly Drum multiplies your damage by 4 (IE: from 50 to 200 per hit) competitive Pokemon makes *heavy* use of stat moves, to the point that any move that increases stats by more than 1 stage can be viable. One of my teams uses an eject pack and copycat to get shell smash on a Vaporeon, 2x ATK 2x Speed Vaporeon is a *terrifying* sweeper.
I'd argue they scale upwards as attacking moves become more powerful. A 2x flamethrower is a much bigger payout than a 2x ember. Same for if you cut a 120 move to 60 vs a 40 to 20
This is a great time videos, going through a lot of stress right now, needed something to cheer me up. My doggo has epilepsy, and he just had a really bad seizure, breaking through every medicine available. If he has another one like this, we might have to put him to sleep. Hopefully he’ll be good, but I REALLY needed something to cheer me up, and here’s Mikey!
I have a weird sense of joy whenever someone mentions Black 2 because it was the game that introduced me to pokemon, I've lost the game card unfortunately but I have sweet memories of it.
Splash’s Japanese name translates as “Hop” (no, not the SwSh friend/rival). It has nothing to do with actual splashing, hence why Pokémon like Hoppip and Buneary know it. The only water bunnies are humans born every 60 years, including 2023, 1963, 1903, etc. (Yes, it’s a Chinese Zodiac reference)
@@MorrisPXG It’s weird for a non-Water-type move to be called “Splash,” I know. Basically, it was a simple translation error, like Fichina in Star Fox 64/Lylat Wars being erroneously named “Fortuna” outside Japan. It happens. 🤷🏻♂️
I definitely like Miraidon's transportation aesthetics more (also because I do love futuristic machines and stuff), but I do think that Koraidon's idle form looks better. I hope both, or at least Miraidon, have types I enjoy and good stat spreads, so I can just buy Violet and feel satisfied enjoying Koraidon via your playthrough. Definitely gonna watch that on MandJTV Extras! If I have time 😅
I’m betting the three stories are just the three regular elements of the main story split up. Evil team, gym challenge, side story that involves the Dex/region phenomenon
Personally I liked all of them... except Cetitan, it's not bad it just feels like it's missing something, like it's unfinished, like I could see it being a mid evolution Pokemon, you know like they're usually considered as that awkward teen phase, especially for starters, more developed but not completely developed, Croconaw comes to mind it's always bugged me, Charmeleon, Ivysaur, Marshtomp as some examples (isn't to say all are bad either, I actually prefer Bayleef over Chikorita or Meganium, I use Chikorita in a Johto playthrough I stop it from evolving at Bayleef). It seems more developed, but like there's still promise, that it could turn into something else... but sadly I don't think it will, I think this will be a mono evolution Pokemon. On the other hand it's ball shaped, it could be an ancestor to Wailmer, a living fossil Pokemon kind of like Relicanth or Mamoswine, thought extinct but still alive today. If that is the case that could mean it evolves into a more Wailord looking Pokemon.
I like how they have each others phone number already, and Grunty Boi Imidiatly forgives him after the text. What a beautiful friendship this has became! 😊 hope you two never get into a fight/argument. 😳 oh crap please tell me I didn't jinx it.
14:45 pretty much summarizes how I feel about spotting *Oricorio* in this week's trailer. Back in Alola, few Pokemon who saw _those_ pompoms come out lived to tell about it.
My theory on what the 3 Stories will be: ~ Gym Challenge This one is confirmed and standard to all mainline pokemon games. Earn badges, beat the E4 and champion, become the strongest in the region. ~ Fill the Dex + Terrastal Phenomenon Instead of it being a side project that unlocks some postgame, you can be rewarded for filling the dex with gifts every time you reach a certain milestone (like how Juniper gave you TMs in BW for filling the pokedex), with the criteria to unlock the Terrastal area being that you have to fill the Dex to a certain amount (perhaps 60%?). ~ A Legendary Hunt Basically, the Frozen Tundra DLC. A character who's interested in lore talks with you about where Legendary Pokemon are rumoured to be, also providing rewards. What would be REALLY interesting is if the Legendaries' levels scaled with your amount of badges, like the Gym Leaders do, so people who like breezing through the game with absurdly powerful legends can do so.
1:55 fun fact: Red Bull doesn’t give you wings; it gives you wiiings. The reason I heard was: they got sued by a guy who claimed they lied about the effects of the drink (he drank it and didn’t grow wings). I have no idea if this is true, but it’s funny.
Not exactly, he sued because for all of their claims about the energy content of red bull, it's less effective than simply drinking a cup of coffee. The "wings" issue was Red Bull's PR team spinning it as a frivolous lawsuit (much like what McDonald's did to Stella Liebeck)
Oh I remember that old rap battle. I was so into rap battles a few years ago so it was cool to see you make one with Ash and Red. I think that's actually how I found your channel!
I feel like I’m in the complete opposite situation with the Kiraidon and miraidon wheel thing. I was originally going to Violet but after seeing Kiraidon runs instead of using it’s wheels I’m planning on getting scarlet. I think it’s a lot cooler that it acts like a real animal and has more personality in its movements then just being a bike. I would rather ride on a cool legendary lizard then just a cool looking bike. There has to be more people who think similarly.
despite the hate that BDSP gets and such, i still love the game, it allows me t play though my home region again with underground improvements (sad no capture the flag though) and i enjoy the art style
I really want a legends: Kyurem where we get to see the war caused by the kings dragon splitting into the 3 unova legends. Maybe even get to see what the kings dragon would've looked like instead of more origin form legends.
I completely agree, however I think it would be Pokemon Legends Victini or Pokemon Legends Meloetta, after all we have legendaries for the box art in the mainline games so I would think that the Legends series would be named after the mythical Pokemon given that Arceus is a mythical and not a legendary Pokemon
I did a soul Locke for a charity stream group and had a Gogoat that a donor named Growgoat, it carried all the way to the champion battle and died to a Talonflame. The most amazing part is our team was ‘Trevor Talonflames’ and this was the champion’s final mon.
I've been very undecided on picking a version for the first time, but people constantly hating on Koraidon's design makes me want to get Scarlet out of spite.
THANK YOU!!! I thought I was the only one that didn't like the design of the gimmicks like I love the gimmick itself but hate it's look so much. It just feels so darn lazy and some of the hates just look so dumb
If there's going to be a Gen 5 remake, I would want Game Freak to make it themselves over a studio that had no experience in making a Pokémon game or at least help with the development, even though BDSP is ILCA's first attempt at a Pokémon game in general, they should've had help with making it
I think they would have helped ILCA had Covid not happened. If Covid had not slowed down their process for over a year, they would have had more time to work on BDSP and Legends Arceus, meaning they probably would have given more resources to helping ILCA make BDSP
Talking about the wheels and Koraidon/Miraidon. I was really liking Violet more, but my friend is getting Violet, so I decided I would get Scarlet. Koraidon started growing on me, and when it showed that he runs and doesn't use his wheels, that just cemented the fact that he was cooler and more gigachad than Miraidon. I'm so excited for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Edit: typo
8:45 makes sense they only did a hat cause the whole Paldea pokedex with individual forms (and shiny ones) would make it postponed to a decade later, that's also why there was few g-max forms.

Brilliant Diamond was my first playthrough through Sinnoh, so I approached it for that, but Legends: Arkoos is just such a better game in every way. And it’s a high bar. I think that it might be the best Pokémon game ever made.
I do agree that it’s probably the best mainline game, but nostalgia clouds my judgement, so it’s not my favorite.
Haven't played legends Arkoos yet but same about Brilliant Diamond
Im seriously baffled they didn't remaster Platinum, like there is a game that already solves most of problems so they can do even less work with it.
Correct me if im wrong, but i feel like theres a certain point in pokemon games where stat boosting doesnt matter because levels are too high. I dont play competitively, i pretty much train my pokemon to look like the Rock
me no know. me only play uranium
Same for if you cut a 120 move to 60 vs a 40 to 20
So glad to see you back Mikey. Great that you're in a better place to be making content, love you man (maybe not completely no homo)
I'm so sorry about that. 😞
Update: Hes doing a lot better, didn’t have any more seizures yesterday. He’s still on seizure watch so anything could happen, but I’m hopeful!
Welcome back, Michael! It's good to see you back from your sabbatical and slinging the memes once more!
I have a weird sense of joy whenever someone mentions Black 2 because it was the game that introduced me to pokemon, I've lost the game card unfortunately but I have sweet memories of it.
Glad to see that you’re back and doing better Mikey 😊
Can’t wait for even more great content

Good to have you back Mikey! We all missed you (and Grunty boi who's probably crying tears of joy in the corner of your house nr bc you're back) 😊
Splash’s Japanese name translates as “Hop” (no, not the SwSh friend/rival).
It has nothing to do with actual splashing, hence why Pokémon like Hoppip and Buneary know it.
The only water bunnies are humans born every 60 years, including 2023, 1963, 1903, etc.
(Yes, it’s a Chinese Zodiac reference)
And somehow This is not a Normal Move

If I have time 😅
So glad your back I needed this so much my week was so bad
I’m betting the three stories are just the three regular elements of the main story split up. Evil team, gym challenge, side story that involves the Dex/region phenomenon
It ended up being to do with the new box art legendaries
8:48 i feel like when you terrastalise a small pkm they will get squished or fall because it’s too big for them
Meme review and Then vs Now are two of my favorite series' on this channel great work Michael
I've been watching the older videos awaiting your return! You made my day! 😁

@riley no we are getting Greninja. We'll just have to transfer it from home in spring

14:45 pretty much summarizes how I feel about spotting *Oricorio* in this week's trailer. Back in Alola, few Pokemon who saw _those_ pompoms come out lived to tell about it.
Hope you had a good break Mikey, good to have you back!
5:10 still convinced that the R on his uniform stands for Raycom and not Rocket
My theory on what the 3 Stories will be:
~ Gym Challenge
This one is confirmed and standard to all mainline pokemon games. Earn badges, beat the E4 and champion, become the strongest in the region.
~ Fill the Dex + Terrastal Phenomenon
Instead of it being a side project that unlocks some postgame, you can be rewarded for filling the dex with gifts every time you reach a certain milestone (like how Juniper gave you TMs in BW for filling the pokedex), with the criteria to unlock the Terrastal area being that you have to fill the Dex to a certain amount (perhaps 60%?).
~ A Legendary Hunt
Basically, the Frozen Tundra DLC.
3:42 I like to imagine the arrows on the floor are actually just arrows, you just wanna follow the rules so you always go where the arrows go
So glad you're back! hope you had a great break!

_The man was too stunned to speak_
Great to see you back Mikey! Can’t wait to see what videos are coming soon!
despite the hate that BDSP gets and such, i still love the game, it allows me t play though my home region again with underground improvements (sad no capture the flag though) and i enjoy the art style
The fact he guessed the relationship between box legends and cyclizar is funny
I really want a legends: Kyurem where we get to see the war caused by the kings dragon splitting into the 3 unova legends. Maybe even get to see what the kings dragon would've looked like instead of more origin form legends.
I completely agree, however I think it would be Pokemon Legends Victini or Pokemon Legends Meloetta, after all we have legendaries for the box art in the mainline games so I would think that the Legends series would be named after the mythical Pokemon given that Arceus is a mythical and not a legendary Pokemon
I'm genuinely stunned that he got those plushies to stay on his shoulders
5:39 grunty boi admitted their friends
I did a soul Locke for a charity stream group and had a Gogoat that a donor named Growgoat, it carried all the way to the champion battle and died to a Talonflame. The most amazing part is our team was ‘Trevor Talonflames’ and this was the champion’s final mon.
I've been very undecided on picking a version for the first time, but people constantly hating on Koraidon's design makes me want to get Scarlet out of spite.
I love the meme review and I’m glad it’s back!!

You started your sabbatical with a meme review and ended it with one. What a perfect circle…. Like the MOTORBIKE LIZARDS
11:35
I like that in this meme they took Brazil, Rio grande do Sul, the city Canoas, and the primavera Neighborhood.
I'm so excited for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Edit: typo
He uses his legs though

8:45 makes sense they only did a hat cause the whole Paldea pokedex with individual forms (and shiny ones) would make it postponed to a decade later, that's also why there was few g-max forms.
He ended with Meme Review, came back with Meme Review, Perfect.
There is always 2-3 different stories. Gym, evil team, and sometimes legendary is different from evil team depending on the Gen
Technically, but it was said as if these were three completely separate stories that you can progress in whatever order you want, not two overlapping stories that have to be done in a specific order
missed you brother! good to see you back, hope your break was restful!
