I'm in total agreement with you about the biopsychosocial model, and I'm surprised it isn't spoken about more. I experience my autism as being rooted in my self not coming from outside society. For example I have real problems around social reciprocity. For example, I tend to be almost exclusively focused on my own interests and find it really hard to engage with others for any length of time, on things of interest to them. I know this sounds very selfish, but I should stress it's not that I don't care about other people, I really do and their wellbeing matters to me a lot - but I just don't seem to have the switch that allows me to be able to engage reciprocally. This is not something that society has caused and it would be impairing in any human society as social reciprocity is central to all group dynamics.

I never heard of the biopsychosocial model. It does sound like an improvement .

I tell people that switching activities is a very difficult thing for me. My emotions are very strong. I hate certain textures and the brightness of the sun. How would society help with that?
