My 2015 PUJE Classic is built with a Carol Brass valve body and they are never sticky, very pleased with the "Pudge" in all respects; thanks to the builder Brent Peters.

Yes, Carol valves are amazing. I've got a little Carol Pocket trumpet that I carry when I go to work. It's wrapped amongst the clothes in my suitcase - and it's taken a beating for years. I actually dropped it once - right onto a hard floor. Bent the bell - but the valves and slides are still fantastic. Great horns. My Puje has the Carol valves, too; it just doesn't get much better.

Thank you for this very nice review. I listen to Andre sometimes. I would buy this if it would make me sound as good has he does. :-)

He is a really great player, isn't he? Super impressive guy. Gotta say, this trumpet is nice; some great design ideas. Always good to hear from you, Guy. :)

It has a light bell like the B&S Challenger 3137 1. Are they similar in sound? What are the differences?

I thought this Carol trumpet was a delight. Excellent intonation, easy to play, very nice trumpet - BUT I didn't feel it sounded as good when played through my microphone. I've switched mic's since then, I may get another one some day. Excellent horn though. Very impressive. The B&S will have a heavier, more orchestral tone, I would think.

No one reviews horns as well as you ….how would this compare to the 7770?

You're too kind... But please - do go on. :) This actually has some great similarities to the 7770. I've had two of those; the first was a tremendous horn. I sold it to a guy in California, then when I got some money I offered to buy it back. He would not part with it; pretty smart guy. :) The next one I had was good, but not as good as the first one. Differences... I think this Giuffredi has as thin if not a thinner bell than any horn I've had, and I've had hundreds. This bell gives it a pretty clear, bright blow. The Sterling silver leadpipe really takes some getting use to... I've got a friend that has one and keeps putting it up for sale then taking it down (at TrumpetHerald.com). He's older, like me, and like me he is wondering about the sterling silver leadpipe. I don't really think the sterling makes a horn brighter or darker, but it makes the tone clearer (that's what Renold Schilke said about sterling bells too - but you heard it here first, right? :) ). With the light bell and the sterling leadpipe, the tone is quite carrying. I play about as soft and dark as anyone I know and I can still make the horn pretty bright... For a real power player this horn might just be too powerful a sound; I'm not attempting to joke or exagerate. The friend I bought it from plays pretty powerful and can't quiet down - he was too much for this horn. Intonation... Is fantastic on this horn. Andrea mentions this on a vid, but Carol is NOT forthcoming about how they did this horn, neither is the vid where Andrea addresses intonation. He merely says something like, 'intonation...I have ideas about this and we worked on it...' Well, it's as easy to play intonation-wise as I can imagine. Enough for now? :)
