    The surface will be light-scattering to make in non-reflective and kind of "paper feeling". That could be affecting the sharpness slightly. It's a 4k screen so should be sharp in normal circumstances. Also the colour looked much warmer when you showed close shots of the screen from a different angle. Purely personal taste, but I think your mac looks much too warm. Again, both issues could be viewing angle or screen surface related. But I'm not in the room so you have the better perspective.
    To me the button controller looks great, you get a text display appearing next to each button telling you what it is when you set it up ("Brush" or whatever). So no need to remember it!
    Anyway, I've been thinking about one of these for a few weeks and after your review I feel happier about buying one. So thanks :)

      Thanks for your thoughts! the button controller is annoying, takes too many steps to toggle between functions, using the keyboard is instant, so it was much easier to continue with an already learned process! Enjoy yours, I do love mine save a few hiccups with it.

    I feel you on the click not working consistently! It appears that the pen button "clicks" only register reliably if the tip of your stylus is a few mm off the surface of the screen, MUCH closer than the range needed for the pen's cursor to activate. This makes is almost impossible to do navigation in programs that rely on holding RMB or MMB to pan/zoom/rotate the view. My hope is that I've received a bad unit that can be replaced since I LOVE this thing aside from this deal-breaker problem. I've made a couple of videos that demonstrate the issue but it appears any comment with vimeo links gets deleted.

    cintiq is starting to look worse and worse the more research i do.

    We have been using the 24" Cintiq for three years now with our iMacs and lately an M2 Pro Mac Mini. Wacom has been good to us with the only issue where we needed support. They worked with us in a back 'n forth exchange of ideas and files until they could release a minor firmware update for the M2 machine,,,took about 5 weeks and the issue is fixed. We too experienced a tone difference in screen displays between our Retina iMac and the Cintiq, but the technologies are different and we understand that. We have several large format inkjet printers and do all our printing in-house using the screen colour profiles generated by the same colorimeter you use; the Cintiq does not vary from month to month and does offer 98% of the RGB gamut. Our prints match exactly what we see on the Cintiq. Yes, the fan can be heard, but the speed is controllable as well as when it kicks in. We use the Wacom stand because it does allow the screen to extend beyond the desk edge and over the keyboard, also on an extendable tray. This way we vary our seating arrangement and also raise the screen so we can stand over it and get off our butts. We use an additional monitor, also profiled, for more screen real estate. Wake from sleep has never been an issue, touch wood. Firmware updates have not broken anything, touch wood. We also use a screen protector film on the Cintiq which allows us to wax the surface for a smoother pen glide and lessen wear on the film. We also use a glove. The remote keypad has always worked flawlessly and we use all the keys for work in PS and Lightroom. Spare nibs are always available. Calibrating the nib to cursor distance never seems to need adjustment. Yes, Wacom is expensive but so far it's been reliable, touch wood. Screen sharpness has never been an issue as our Canon R5 files invariably appear tack sharp with R glass and prints on MOAB Slickrock Pearl 260 (a metallic paper) are exquisitely detailed. We are happy. But if today we had to replace the Wacom and surviving in Canada, our first choice would be the Xencelabs 24" hands down!!

    I think the sharpness has to do with how MacOS handles resolution. It only supports 1440p natively( the monitor they come with is 5k which is 2x 1440p so it directly scales) so any 1080p or 4k monitor is going to be stretched resulting in pixels not 1 to 1 aligning with the screen so it loses sharpness. There are pen displays with 1440p by huion and I think xp pen as well but no 5k displays yet.

      Tested it on windows today. It's pretty unsharp compare to my LG Screen. Imo they took to much antiglare on.
      It's sadly one of the reasons why I have to send it back.

    This display had checked so many boxes for me, but upon hearing/reading multiple user's experiences with the lack of sharpness in the display, i'm on the fence about buying. It's a shame too because in comparison, Wacom is much too expensive, and 3rd party brands such as Huion/XP-Pen seem cheap/lower quality.

      I wouldn’t NOT buy it due to the lack of on screen sharpness. Honestly that isn’t a good reason, just glance at your computer to refer to the sharpness, it’s not a big deal at all!

    • @NikkiPhotoArt
      @NikkiPhotoArt  Год назад +2

      I do think it is the paper like screen texture, I always refer to my iMac now to determine the sharpness amount I want. All other issues resolved once I updated the firmware.
