- Earlier that day I had to rescue this kookaburra from the pool and now that its all dry it jumps in for a hug when it sees me next!

Yes they are soft!! The magpies aren't as soft. This isn't cheeky boy this is the young kookaburra who fell in the pool, poor thing!
@@BackyardBirdsofAustralia oh, no! I'm so glad you rescued him, poor little blighter! You won't believe this, but it actually got up to 23° today! It was amazing! A breath of spring at last. Well...technically I'd have to say yesterday now, as it 's currently 0005 Thursday. But still...I felt like breaking out my swimsuit and working on a tan, lol!(not really. I'm Irish-American and I am pale as milk. I can't tan to save my life!) I have the feeling me being as pale as I am would make me stick out like a sore thumb in Australia, whereas in the UK I just look like another pasty Brit, lol!
So, have you decider on a name for the wee one yet? How about Pool Boy? Lolol! Oh, I really want to cuddle one! They just seem so fluffy. I like fluffy things. Of course, I'm dying to pat a koala too. I want to know if they're as soft as they look! BTW, I make frequent donations to 1300Koalaz, and SKER, where King Harry lives. I'm an American koala advocate. I might live 22,000 miles away, but I've loved koalas all my life, and want to help save them.💖💖🐨🐦
@@ecclestonsangel That's great that you support the koalas! I was thinking of calling this one Daffy because it went swimming with the ducks. I think it might actually be a female but it's not 100% clear at the moment.

My chickens are the same with food, in the morning the young ones fly down from the nearby trees and loudly chirp, until I come out to feed them, around 5 am.

@@BackyardBirdsofAustralia If you don't mind me asking: Is there a trick to becoming a bird hero? I know I live in the radically different biome of New England (US zone of like Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island) but I assume theres basical principles?
At the very least please consider making a video on how to maximize bird friendships. You have achieved like one of my life goals. 😂

Honestly just a lot of time and patience, I think probably the biggest thing is that I let the birds come to me instead of me coming to them. So if there's a shy bird I might start by throwing it a piece of food or by feeding another bird to show them that it's ok, and then gradually encourage it to come closer to me until it's jumping on my shoulder as soon as I open up my door 😅

Thanks for letting me know! I have sort of thought about it but I'm not really sure what I'm doing with this channel and don't take it too seriously at the moment. If I manage to get to 100k subscribers I might start looking into some environmentally friendly merch. I'm not sure, I'm currently just focusing on getting my PhD thesis written up so haven't thought about it too much!
