somehow, your video came to my homepage - uploaded 17 seconds ago... i guess i'll watch this now edit: just finished the video, and now i have some movies added to my "Movies To Watch" list, thank you
No way bro put Alita (techically cyborg), but forgot Jarvis, Altron, Terminator, Stem, Wall-e and mother from that one with girl raised in bunker by robot. Edit: okay, mentioned in the end, but still missed opportunity.
Terminator 1/2 had some of the best robot/AI effects for thier time. Also, super loved TARS/CASE from Interstellar. Would love more deep dives into the less-human AI.
Alita isn't an AI. She's a cyborg. Problem is that the only thing that's actually organic about her is her brain which if you read the Mars Chronicle manga, is actually quite impressive is even capable of developing as much as it did.
@@SweatySheets well buckle up because these are some real heavy spoilers. So in Mars there's this rare and very brutal sickness that causes brain cells to develop all over the body. Each brain can develop into an individual personality and so, faces grow along with them. The end result is permanent trauma inducing body horror. Alita, or Yoko as that's her original name, is one such mutated brain that was surgically removed and placed in a cyborg body and is the only successful record of such procedure because almost none of the brains were able to develop to the point of surviving without the host they grew from.
Damn, I was hoping you would put in AIDA from agents of shield, since it would be really interesting to see how it was done since the robot is a replica of a different character in the show
The Creator had an amazingly evocative aesthetic, but was still an incredibly vapid work - almost like it was written by A.I. as a propaganda piece which was programmed to arbitrarily mashup disperate elements of Neill Blomkamp's "District 9", "Chappie" & "Elysium" with Michael Ritchie's "The Golden Child" - but with no regard for athropological versimilitude or narrative cohesion.
AI =/= Robots. Unfortunately the video shows what I consider a huge failure of pop culture and the lack of out of the box thinking: Ai = robots with feelings. When in fact it's so much more and has and will have more impact on our lives in almost every aspect. Regardless of a robotic body. We're basically culturally not really prepared for what's to come. This gigantic intelligence that will probably soon overtake us in every aspect could make so many interesting stories and hypotheticals. Just looking a few years into the future brings fundamental questions: What about us not being the dominant species anymore? Ai being able to create better art, music, movies? Being faster, stronger, solving more complex puzzles and taking over most aspects of our lives? Being better at taking care of us than we ever could. What remains for us? Laziness or will we thrive in other aspects? But all we get is: Ai is robots and they deserve our empathy. The only film I think that showed the most realistic depiction of AI was "her". No robot, just a voice, but the social implications are way more intriguing. Also that tech is basically already there. So we'll soon see first hand what it will bring for us. Okay, essay over 😁 P.s. this is btw not a dunk on your video! It's a great video! 👏 You just had to work with what Hollywood provided.
Thanks for the thoughtful response! I agree completely that there's a lot more to AI than we all think and it's equal parts exciting and scary to think about. Her is a great example of Hollywood thinking outside the box and I'd like to see more of that than the standard robot flick. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but the examples in this video are robots capable of independent thought and emotion, choosing their own path, and becoming more than just a machine. In that way, are they not considered AI? Or if you meant that AI doesn't necessarily HAVE to mean robots then yes I totally agree. But again like you said, not a lot of examples otherwise in mainstream movies.
"Budet of only 80 million" he says. Using Wikipedia numbers: Godzilla Minus One was 10 million. RRR was 30 million. John Wick 20 million. Joker 55 million.

13:00 As a child, I loved this movie so much I named my gray dog after her.

You're gonna have to explain that better and in a way that doesn't make me think a robot is using a human brain, thus making it AI

Fantastic videos. Please keep making them. I vote for a video that explore the Uncanny Valley. When CGI people look creepy.

Agreed. Loved the visuals. Story was lacking.
