Why Hinata Couldn't See Through Obito's Mask

Hinata Hyuga encountered Obito while he was still pretending to be Tobi or Madara during the Itachi Pursuit Arc. Hinata has a Byakugan which can see through solid things. But she never sees through Obito's mask. This is a plot hole in Naruto Shippuden. Why though? It would be easy to tell Kakashi about Obito's scar and half of his body being made of Hashirama cells.
Even though Hinata has her Byakugan on during the entire Obito vs Leaf Village fight it seems like she couldn't see what layed beyond the surface of Obito. Now, obviously we couldn't get Obito's face reveal during the Itachi Pursuit Arc because we were supposed to believe he was Madara back then. And Tobi's true identity would only be delivered in the 4th Great Ninja War. Let's explore this weird Naruto Plot Hole and try to explain why Hinata couldn't figure out Obito's identity there.
