@Jimmy Hardon His opinions should be static? people should be this thing or that thing, never mix it up and should completely ignore opinions that differ to theirs? It's right or it's left and those 2 should be separated by a wide gaping chasm? I dono man, I like the fact he's open to other opinions, and sure he can get it wrong at times but that's okay, it's okay to disagree with people sometimes without resorting to cancel culture.
open minded? he is saying things to gain popularity on the internet and get more money in his pockets. Science is not like the History channel, They are not going to start talking about UFO's and Ancient Aliens just because it gets more attention, brings in more views and generates more money.
It's great to have scientists who approach their research with an open mind, however, it's also important to maintain the rigor of the scientific method and avoid jumping to conclusions without proper evidence. In the case of Dr. Loeb, while his research output is impactful, some of his colleagues have criticized him for his premature speculation and the media attention it generated without sufficient evidence to support his claims. This could be seen as detracting from the credibility of the scientific community and creating false hopes or misunderstandings. It's important to keep in mind that science is a collaborative effort, and by following the scientific method and carefully reviewing each other's work, we can maintain its integrity and advance our understanding of the world.
"I will teach the world to accept the evidence." Just a general gripe that a mad scientist would have with the general populace, and who would go great lengths to expand the consciousness of those who'd be willing to prevent the scientist's apocalypse. I'd watch that Bond movie. Or Mission Impossible. Bourne. Whatever.
People being closed minded is defiantly the default setting. It's like that quote: "It Is Difficult to Get a Man to Understand Something When His Salary Depends Upon His Not Understanding It."

It is difficult to say that Avi Loeb is going to risk the prestige of years of work in the scientific community, I think it is the first time that a serious scientist studies the appearance of a flying object and they did it because they thought at first that it was an asteroid but, seeing his strange behavior, Avi Loeb simply expressed his conclusions without fear, so did Galileo Galilei.

Scientists and mathematicians actually get very happy when you tell them this. I once saw a complicated mathematical problem on Quora which was solved and explained in such an easy way by a mathematician. He got scores of comments about how cool or stuff like that. I simply commented saying 'hey I am not a math guy but your explanation was so simple that even I understood it'. He only replied to me thanking me out of all the comments.
Plot twist: he's a movie buff and knew that Joe got the name wrong and it has nothing to do with solar sails. So to save Joe embarrassment he moved the fuck on.
I commend him for speaking out with his honest beliefs because he knows the ridicule that he’ll face yet he still spoke up. More scientists should move off the common narrative when they feel they have found evidence of something outside the common explanation. It takes courage from a professional aspect to do that. So many scientists just parrot the mainstream narrative without ever thinking for themselves. I credit him for doing this either way, right or wrong it’s needed.
I don't think anybody is ridiculing this guy. You're acting like science is infallible, it's not. Science welcomes opposing viewpoints, that's literally the whole point. If you're able to follow the scientific process and prove your theory, then that's confirmed by your peers, that's science. Science literally changes all the time, as does our understanding of the world/universe around us (which, again, is literally the definition of science).
@@justintyme4690 this doesn't even make sense. Science is completely fact-based. I'm guessing by 'theories,' you're referring to scientific theories (like the theory of evolution), which aren't theories in a literal sense, since they're actually the highest level a scientific hypothesis can possibly attain, such as the theory of gravity. Do you not believe in gravity?

I wish there were more scientists like Avi Loeb, his open minded investigative approach should be the benchmark for all scientific research.
open minded? he is saying things to gain popularity on the internet and get more money in his pockets.

Science doesn't like facts. They just like bullshit theories
I don't think anybody is ridiculing this guy. You're acting like science is infallible, it's not. Science welcomes opposing viewpoints, that's literally the whole point.
