    These videos have inspired me to push the limits of drg, I’ve come pretty far already as I got a sub10 on point extraction haz5 with randos, I remember when I was too scared to play on haz5

    Also, leeches suck. Good move there activating IW while still leeched to vampire it

    6:00 huh? (I had to rewatch to see that he used wizardry to vampire the leech while in iron will) that's a great strategy... For me to steal and promptly completely blunder.

    The area denial of discharge is amazing, although sadly the playstyle never stuck to me

    How do you know that at 2:21 a swarm is incomming? I mean you start to prepare turrets and seal entrances before that announcement, im super curious. Nice gameplay :)

      After playing 6x2 for a while, you get a feel for when swarms or waves of bugs spawn. You can also look at the difficulty file itself and see that swarms come within 125 to 165 seconds while waves spawn within either 170 to 210 seconds or 180 to 190 seconds.

  • @matiastripaldi406
    @matiastripaldi406 2 года назад +7

    Is there a reason you always do these in the salt pits? Im guessing the tight chokepoints help for dealing with the massive swarms but isn't the risk of rollers too high? Or maybe it was just the shortest morkite mission available lol

    • @pH-JPEG
      @pH-JPEG  2 года назад +8

      If you look at my earlier true solos, I preferred Crystalline Caverns for my runs because yes, younglings are a massive pain in the ass. However, as I got better, I could now more easily deal with younglings. The benefits of Salt Pits cave gen offsets younglings as a result, with the tighter tunnels offering better chokes. Crystalline can still have some decent chokes, but there's often random rocks or crystals that can get in your way, especially if you're trying to push or run away. A tunnel can sometimes be too large. Crystalline/Salt typically have 200 morkite, though 225 and 250 in other biomes can be fair game as well. REZ, Fungus Bogs and surprisingly Magma Core can have decent generation.

    • @matiastripaldi406
      @matiastripaldi406 2 года назад +3

      @@pH-JPEG interesting insight. I can definitely agree that crystalline generation is pain sometimes if you don't have a driller. I've had completely blocked tunnels several times and I imagine wasting precious time mining is not a good idea.
      REZ though? With radioactive aoe praetorians? That seems scary

    • @memtransmute
      @memtransmute 2 года назад +2

      Salt pits typically have the nicest cavegen on average (especially for starting nitra to get that first resup before an announced swarm). Younglings might be problematic, but at least you can usually pick where to fight as engineer and not fight in the local minima. Other ones like Dense Biozone have awful vertical caves for true soloing when not scout or driller with EPC, and has shockers. REZ has reasonable cavegen but as you mentioned has radioactive praetorians, but at least the caves are reasonably clean. Fungus Bogs isn't very nice usually because all of the ceiling vines that really block your line of sight, also has a lot of goo. Hollow bough is awful because claustrophic caves mixed with vertical caves, in addition to stabber vines and smaller veins that take forever to clear out unless TCF/explosives/axe and block you in the most inconvenient of times. Glacial strata has snow, cold vents, shockers, snow storms, ice cracks, and is really not nice for engineer true solos. Sandblasted Corridors is awful because of its tendency to spawn massive open caves with hard to reach nitra and morkite. Azure wealds is okay, but it also has the branches and has a tendency to generate larger rooms.

    • @memtransmute
      @memtransmute 2 года назад +1

      @@matiastripaldi406 It also depends on the particular loadout you take to the true solo. For example, Burning Hell / VB or LSLS with AB / Hellfire will have no issues against radioactive praetorians, whereas a warthog / RJ250 engineer will likely struggle to clear REZ praetorians quick enough before being irradiated.

    Thinking about your proxy placement at around 2:30. Wouldn't proxys behind turrets make more sense to kill any bugs that make their way through EMDs and not waste charges on singular bugs that will get killed by EMD anyway?
    Or do you use them more as an early warning system?

    • @pH-JPEG
      @pH-JPEG  2 года назад +10

      Yeah, I use proxys as an early warning system. I don’t have to focus as hard on watching two chokes as I know proxys will deal with whatever comes through or at least weaken it. If a Praet decides to walk through when I don’t see it, it’ll have some health chunked down at least when I check back on the choke. Or, if there’s some grunts I didn’t see at all, they’ll all get blown up if I’m busy with something else.

    Is EM Discharge the best OC for the Stubby on this Haz?

    • @pH-JPEG
      @pH-JPEG  2 года назад +7

      Yes, EM Discharge is the best Stubby OC for modded hazards similar to 6x2. Its ability to complete lock down chokes or even general areas if you've gotten good at being mobile with it (activating the EMD effect on recalled turrets flying through the air) is incredible. EM Refire Booster can't compare to EM Discharge, but it's a perfectly fine option if you want another Stubby OC for modded hazards and if you don't want to use LOK1 Executioner. However, Executioner serves EM Refire Booster's purpose much better.

    can you share your build please?

  • @naanviolence8260
    @naanviolence8260 Год назад

    Why do you keep manually moving your turrets instead of recalling them?

    • @pH-JPEG
      @pH-JPEG  Год назад +1

      It’s an old habit from when the EMD bug still worked. How it worked was that you built both your sentries at the start of the mission and as long as you didn’t recall them completely, you can proc EMD on the unbuilt sentries. If you did recall them, you could setup the bug again. The bug allowed you to be much, much more mobile with EMD as all you had to do was wait for the unbuilt sentry to arrive when moving instead of the intended way of building a sentry and unbuilding it upon moving. The bug has been long fixed, but there’s a mod that reverts the change.

  • @thenamelessking9005
    @thenamelessking9005 Год назад +1

    Sadly this got nerfed. You can no longer toggle the electrics discharge from shooting the unbuilt turrets. You have to actually repair them now in order for it to work

    • @pH-JPEG
      @pH-JPEG  Год назад +1

      Which is unfortunate if you want to play vanilla DRG, however there’s a mod that reverts it: drg.old.mod.io/revert-em-discharge

    Why do you not have Bosco with you? Is it for the challenge or is he annoying to play with? I like him to at least mine minerals for me lol

    • @pH-JPEG
      @pH-JPEG  Год назад +3

      It's for the challenge. In modded, when you do a solo run, it's almost always a true solo. Bosco can secure nitra and objective for you, offers revives if you make mistakes, clear some swarmers off of you, and can help with stationaries. Removing him puts all of that on your shoulders, forcing you to play as optimally as you can.

    I swear all the best happened before the seasons were implemented. I hope DRG becomes something better, I think it's dying in bloat. They can't do seasons well enough. They'll make a battlepass and that's, well it's alright. But the recent changes happening to Hoxxes almost make the missions suck. Now that Season 3 has corrupted the game I'm not interested in what they'll think up next

    what x2 means?

    • @pH-JPEG
      @pH-JPEG  Год назад

      x2 in a difficulty means double the enemies of that said difficulty. For example, 6x2 means Hazard 6 with double the enemies.
