- deep rock galactic's gunner class has filled me with the need for more firepower, so i went off on a journey to find it... my adventure led me to the armskore coil gun, one of my new favorite secondaries in the entire game. thanks ghost ship games.

Coil gun hellfire is in the top 3 best crowd control secondary in the game.
You want secondary firepower? Try the Elephant Gun overclock for the revolver, with all damage modifications. You get 15 shots, but your bullets have the hitting power of a freight train in an area the size of a pencil tip
fitting 50 bmg into a 38 special revolver
This also makes for the ultimate Team-Killer weapon next to "Super Cooling Chamber" for the M1000
And I guess Nuke, but I look for "precise" team killing, not indiscriminate

the new rapid fire overclock for the missile launcher is my absolute favourite now, youre basically using the minigun but with rockets

If you're going for wave clearing for your secondary, the fire mod is very fun. Anything that gets lit on fire (as in grunts) You can ignore her because they'll die.
And if you take the fear mod, the praetorians won't die but they will turn around so you can use your primary on their weak spot. (Rocket barrage and higher weak point damage. Good combo, or at least fun)
Everyone knows the thunderhead is the real powerhouse for wave clearing though

The 4 boss health bars reminded me of the first time I encountered the Nemesis, which was when I accidentally grenaded a dreadnaught egg, and then BET-C decided to join right after, it certainly left a lasting impression

Can't wait for you to discover the Hellfire OC for the coilgun. It's ridiculously strong against crowds, and can also overheat rival turrets in one fully charged shot

The Mole overclock for the ArmsKore is great especially if you can mark out a target and have map knowledge to use the terrain around you
Triple Tech Chamber is also amazing at outputting damage
There's a weapon mod for it as well that lets you shoot the Railgun immediately but consumes less ammo and does less damage, handy for getting rid of smaller targets
(Also don't forget to shield, it boosts your shield recharge rate)
dont forget about the hellfire
and hellfire, the can of swarm-be-gone that is also great against praetorians
mole is for maximum teamkilling, pop your laser pointer and snipe someone across the map

7:50 in drg all damage sources that are just a lingering hitbox deal damage on the first tick that a target enters the area
for that reason its a lot safer to just stand on hot rock than constantly jump up it, especially if you're going up an incline
the same thing applies to the gas coulds in fungus bogs
if you're just constantly running through them (or in this case it seems like doretta's angle was chnaging just right for him to constantly oscilate on the edge of the gas hitbox) that his hp just melted
Pair the armscore coil gun (hellfire) with autocannon (big bertha), its not the strongest gunner build but it sure makes me happy when I use it
as soon as i get hellfire i’ll be sure to give it a whirl!
hellfire is CRACKED.
can 1shot kill turrets by overheat
the effect zone is amped, i think, so adding the electric upgrade adds up to it's damage and crowd control

Hellfire's probably the best overclock in the game, The Mole is nuts against Dreadnaughts, Triple-Tech was the first one I got and was really fun, but haven't tried in a while. The mod that lets you shoot as soon as you charge a single bar is also nice when you don't wanna waste ammo on a singular grunt or two.
BRT goes crazy with Leadspray OC. Turns it basically into a shotgun, can recommend it for Dread hunting. You can pretty much solo them with that thing, but it does run out of ammo real quick
God I love the Leadspray, incentivizes a LOT hit & run tactics
Burst fire gun is definitely worth looking into, it's probably one of my favorite as far as reliable secondaries go. Ironically enough I thought the Coil Gun was the absolute worst new gun added to the game until I got some Overclocks and it was... acceptable. What I want in a secondary for the Gunner is the ability to shoot right away in a pinch, the annoying hair trigger on the Coil Gun just doesn't sit well with me.
that's fair, it did kind of put me off momentarily. quickly got used to it and enjoyed it, though

A lot of people don't like the burst fire pistol, but if you manage to get the Fletchlings overclock for it, it becomes a fun 6-burst gun with LOADS of ammo, and very reliable accuracy
I do have to correct myself, as I think the 6-burst option is a weapon upgrade, and NOT a part of the overclock

Fire build Gunner is actually one of my favorite builds, I love being able to 'TF2 Flarepunch" bugs in this game just as much as I can with Pyro in TF2.
Sometimes I tapspam the minigun at the edge of spinup to proc ignite on big bugs quickly. Do not tell management.
@@noodledoodle9408 I mean, I really wish the leadstorm had a function where we could just keep the barrel spinning without firing bullets, maybe still with heat buildup but a lower%. that or the reload animation served a purpose in cooling down the gun/revving it up.

The BRT7 is my go to secondary for single-target, Build is Lead Spray overclock and 2 3 2 2 2 in upgrades (Stupidly good for dreadnoughts)
Reapee Ron's Plasma Burster Missiles build for the Hurricane is also very good.

Fear trail + Electric trail for the coilgun is legit unbalanced horde clear. Expanded trail doesnt actually increase the radius of the fear effect noticeably, from my casual use of the weapon.
i will keep this in mind!
expanded trail is for the damage trail of the coilgun as well as overclocks affecting that, not for the fear upgrade
Fatboy overclock on every gun mod now thats how you get more firepower

Gunner secondaries for me have always been SUPER primary dependant. Volatile Bullets/Hot Bullets/Burning Hell is so damn powerful it feels almost unfair, one can use the Minigun to handle EVERYTHING and then you can pop Rev rounds into chunky things for extra oomph. Elephant Rounds/Six Shooter both behave V differently and depend on whether my Primary has better wave clear or STD. I find the BRT works either as a DreddShredd device or as a ultra-ammo-wave-clear for something like Big Bertha or Hurricaione Shotgun. Coilgun is crowd control at base with lots of status options and all are good for managing a wave but it isn't proper wave clear like BRT xcan be. I am least experienced with it but Mole is VERY fun. I find other classes secondaries (besides driller 50% of the time) are far more able to be used as like solo entities without support from primary but Gunner is more synergistic. Ofc any class can build for any environment so it's all relative but yh Gunner's builds are all paired for me. Weirdly altho Gunner allows for the most M1 + W key play it also has some of the greatest synergies.
Except for Mole. Mole is bae if you have the ammo.

To answer your question at 11:50 Megan voiced Nitara (the vampire chick) in Mortal Kombat 1, and she did an atrocious job at it- as in, way, *way* worse than your comrade's typical performance in DRG runs. Turns out she's not an actress, she's just a celebrity who the creators of the game hired purely because of her fame, and she was woefully unprepared to voice anyone. She didn't make her voice match her character, the scene, or the mood she was supposed to convey and her vocal range is flat as a table. It's literally so bad that Nitara has a separate actress (an *actual* actress who's acted before) to voice her various shrieks and in- combat noises. The lead designer of MK1 was actually planning to hire more celebrities, who have enormous cost to hire and no acting experience, to act characters but never got the chance. Imagine how bad that would've turned out...

I personally love the Gunner's BRT7 burstfire secondary with the unstable overclock "Lead Spray" along with all damage/weakpoint upgrades. It hits hard as hell especially against opressors/bosses at CLOSE range. The spread is rough but closer the better.
If you want some BEEG firepower, use The Mole overclock on Coil gun or Burning Bell on Minigun + Volatile Bullets on bulldog. That shit deals so much damage it was unfair.
PBM on hurricane and big bertha on autocannon also gives good firepower for single target
also try burning hell+aggressive venting with coilgun with the hellfire overclock(once you get it)
(overheat yourself sending the enemies running away and on fire, then hit them with MORE fire, then by the time you reload your coilgun you'll be almost off overheat)
the TRUE flame gunner build
maximum secondary firepower is the BRT7 with lead spray overclock
nothing screams power than "accidently" left clicking on your friend and watching as all their hopes and dreams of them ever escaping this cave disappear within an instant
On escort missions as gunner, always take the biggest shield bubble that you can, and you can shield the entire drilldozer in clutch situations.
I use bullet hell on fun spinny gun and lead spray on btr7 burst and holy it’s good. On escort I got over 800 kills one mission. Only issue is ammo consumption but you delete swarms of small enemies with ease and the secondary damage is stupid
I was told the armscore was one of the worst secondaries for Gunner.
I have s really wicked Overclock for it. I'm tempted to try it now. At least, until I find that gorgeous Overclock for Bulldog that increases mag size.
Worst case scenario.... I'm like one promotion in, and I have a ton of money and resources. Pretty sure I can take an equipment L.

croppa veins being considerably bigger than other minerals for whatever reason at least makes it an ok source of money since you sure as hell would have trouble running out of it without selling
Hellfire. Works great with Neurotoxin for the autocannon or Minelayer for the Hurricane. Leadstorm for the Leadstorm too.
I'm on Alex's side. All you were missing was a korlok, corruptor, prospector, and more dreads
volitile bullets are rarely worth it unless other players are going fire based. long range single target is good for your secondary with burning hell
I built the brt7 for max dmg and it kills praetorians in like 2 shots and a bit more. So fast
i'm personally not the biggest fan of the coil gun, it's more of a crowd control weapon than a damage dealer, and while ik it's good, my thunderhead build makes it kinda irrelevant in most situations, since it already has good cc + good damage. But well, if anything, i can at least recommend u to give a try to a 22123 triple-tech chamber build for the coil gun, this turns the weapon into a cc king while not spending much ammo. the OC makes u able to re-fire the gun 2 more times after the first shot, with those extra shots also leaving behind a trail of damage, and then the 2nd mod makes u able to fire the gun without full charge, dealing less damage on the shot itself BUT the trail still does the same damage, same for the extra ones, so yeah the gimmick with this build is quickly firing shots at different directions to damage as many enemies as possible while also cc-ing them with stun and electricity.

I've been wanting to submit some build ideas since I ONLY play Gunner (I am too reliant on the shield to save me from my mistakes, and I probably die to fall damage as often as Gamma does when I try to play Scout) but never did so here are a few of my best builds:
(I don't know what overclocks you do and dont have but with how much you play, you might just get them soon)
My favorite Gunner build:
"Hurricane" Guided Rocket System
> Plasma Burster Missiles Overclock (This makes me feel like a wizard tbh, its great)
> 21113
"Bulldog" Heavy Revolver
> Elephant Rounds Overclock
> 13312
My second favorite build:
"Hurricane" Guided Rocket System
> Rocket Barrage Overclock [you loose guidance but get the ability to cast "Fuck you" and you blast the enemy witha billion misiles, its really good for getting up close with bosses]
> 21213 (you can swap out the second one for anti-tank, I just chose "bigger jet engine" for speed :) )
Same pistol as previous (Elephant rounds Bulldog is very solid and reliable imo, it just has less ammo for more damage)
and Finally:

There IS a difference between a "coil gun" and a "rail gun" btw. That aside, the Mole is a very powerful overclock on the Coil gun along with Inferno (this turns rival presence turrets into a joke as heat ignores shields and will overheat and kill the turrets).

You're prolly married to the coilgun now, but if you want to tinker with the build Jayr gave you and you have the Hurricane here's my setup from another Legend Gunner:
Hurricane: 21211 Overtuned Feed Mechanism
Bulldog: 22122 Volatile Bullets
I really like the tracking on the Hurricane, but if you don't care for it you can probably swap the OC out for something else. The critical part is having the Hurricane (or your Driller) set things on fire and having the Bulldog primed to obliterate things on fire via Volatile Bullets. I took this build on after seeing a video of someone nuking a Bulk in 3 weakpoint shots, and while it's been nerfed since then it's still very powerful.

4:44 If you see plague worms in a mission that isn't Lithophage Warning, then that means there's a corrupter somewhere, as the spawn pod things can appear on the patches of corruption. But hey, at least your boss-spawning friends didn't get to it first.
When it comes to Burning Hell, I far prefer Aggressive Venting to go with it. Burning Hell vastly increases your heat buildup, meaning that sustained fire can be rather difficult, but AV shortens your overheat cooldown while giving a full 360 radius fire and fear AoE every time it triggers. This passively increases your damage, scares bugs away from you (very helpful for a build that's meant to be effective at close range such as Burning Hell) when you're vulnerable, and shortens the overall cycle of firing, overheating, and repeating. Chews through the largest swarms like little else. BH can also set off gas clouds, burn cobwebs, and kill naedocytes without having to aim at them.
Lumin died to someone detonating the gas clouds from the mushrooms, if I had to guess. They're explosive and chain-react.
The BRT7 actually has higher damage than the coilgun if you use overclocks like Lead Spray. It's stupid against bosses of any kind - korloks, all dreadnoughts, the caretaker - it just shreds them.

I mean he's not *wrong*. Triple dread battles are actually some of the most chaotic fun I've had in DRG by far. Dense biozone is good for that because of the absurdly huge cave gen, sandblasted corridors has good gen for it but the random sandstorms are anti-fun.

They might not mine for the big crystals because they play hazard 5, seldom drillers, counter-teamplay and such

7:59 Poison (particularly that of the Fungus Bogs spore cloud variety, as well as Praetorian / Oppressor death smoke) can be lit on fire by the flamethrower (a Driller primary weapon) which instantly deals massive fire damage to anything standing in said poison. It's entirely possible Lumii dealt significant damage to themselves.

Weirdly enough having to fight all the boss at once ain't that bad because the game won't spawn more regular enemies
The only one you will see are the one that were already here and warning enemies (mactera plague for exemple :) )
I suggest you to try the coilgun with the mole on elimination when you get that oc.
The usual best setup for the coilgun would be 221x3
Tier 4 depend on what you prefer and the oc (I like the blast with the mole and the damage res with hellfire)
For hellfire picking tier 3B would be better because fear+fire, however be aware that its the kind of oc wich you find the name in the dictionnary when looking the word genocide.

I have 134 hours in DRG on ps5 and I have 133 hours with engineer. The only other hour I have consists of the gunner in the tutorial and sometime afk. I am an engineer main and proud. To this day I haven't tried any of the other classes yet :D

Trail width Hellfire is so busted compared to the other overclocks it isn’t even funny. It utterly dominates crowds without the need for a second thought. There really should be different overclocks for this gun. The cleans are effectively the same as stock, the mole is funny but gimmicky, triple tech is ok but underpowered. Hellfire just dominates.

0:17 if you make a trail build on that with as many trail effects as you can get and the release on any power upgrade you can roast entire gliphid grunt wawe in 1-2 shots costing you 10 ammo per shot out of 880 . i did haz 4 gunner solo point extraction and had 1563 kills by the end of it lol (1h 14 min time) . oh yea also plasma misiles are really good
the build is
coilgun -2 2 2 (1 or 2 both are good i use 1 for damage resist) and 3 . oc is hellfire (i think any trail oc would work i use hellfire because it lets me set bigger targets on fire when full charged and it makes the trail bigger on any charge but any trail oc would work maybe even be better lol) + the fear upgrade works on 1 bar charge making this excelent cc tool
rocket launcher huricane : 1 2 2 1 3 plasma bursters oc . with this build theres few targets that can resist this damage . grunts need like 2 rockets , pretorians like 4 and all of their armor get peeleed off like a shrimp lol . because the misiles penetrate targets they spend long time in air which means their damage grows all the time because of the nitroglicerin compound upgrade
Ngl, I found gunners secondaries super underwhelming after the revolver, get elephant rounds on that baby and nothing else compares. It absolutely wipes bosses. Burst pistol is meh, and the coil gun is just infuriating to use for me.

my favorite crowd control secondary is the revolver. load it up with neurotoxin payload and explosive ammo, and then get the magic bullets oc that lets missed shots ricochet into the nearest enemy. intentionally miss your shots and land them in between the bugs and for every shot fired you get 2 separate explosions in 2 different places in a crowd, each of which will deal a lot of immediate damage as well as apply neurotoxin. I bring it on elimination missions to exclusively deal with the radiant swarms that spawn while traversing and exploring.

The real strength of that gunner flame build is in the volitile bullets, that OC does insane amounts of damage if you build for accuracy and weakpoints. I'm talking taking down a bulk solo in seconds kinda damage. I also like to run hot bullets on the minigun so you can set things on fire that are far away
that's what i've heard! sad the mission didn't last longer so i could find out just how strong that bulldog build was for myself. i'll have to run it again

it feels good base, yes. but give it something like the mole or hellfire and it becomes some of the highest single target and crowd clear respectively in the entire game
you will never be able to go back when you use one shot to light up an entire swarm as you hear the fire start to spread with loud WOMP's repeating as the entire swarm disintegrates

lmao Croppa is not the rarest mineral for me in the slightest. I had 39,000 Croppa and only 16 Magnite, traded 10,000 Croppa for like 3k Magnite. Little did I know I was like 2 Engineer cosmetics away from having every cosmetic (and overclock), making this a very bad and unecessary trade. But then again, I mostly play Gunner and Magnite is one of his promotion minerals, So I'll definitely get use out of it when I upgrade him to Legendary 3 + 12.

@@nameisnttaylor it does seem very common, or maybe it's just that it has seemingly larger veins than the rest.
It's also fun (after hundreds of hours) to go have a look at how many missions you've played on each map. I never choose missions based on map, but I've played a decent number more missions on Croppa maps.
I was shocked by my most and least played maps, because I wouldn't have guessed they were Crystalline Caverns (ironically no Croppa) was most, Salts Pits was least. Would have guessed Magma Core or Glacial Strata would be least.
Everybody clowns on Grandpa Gunner until hes the last one alive and theyre begging him for revives and shield protection 😂

i am some what sad i didnt get to see you losing ur shit over volatile bullets damage becasue holy moly that oc should not be allowed to exist as it has for so long.

So it appears i am missing something with the coil gun. For me the burst pistol is more fun/useful.
that's entirely fine and fair! to each their own
a little tip for a Coilgun:
the Control Magnetic Flow in T2 allows you to tap-shoot it for ~33 dmg at the cost of 10 ammo BUT the magnetic trail still retains it's 10 dps + 8 dps from Electric Trail mod in T5, making it exceptionally ammo-efficient at crowd clearing
if you get Hellfire though, it's fire trail doesn't activate unless you fully charge the weapon
