Hi, watch cases are made of brass and they are dissolved in nitric acid. So, yes cases are destroyed. If gold is removed with reverse electroplating cases stay intact. I have such a video.
@@escrapchannel What method do you suggest for magnetic gold plated jewelry? I have about 5 pounds of it that I would like to attempt a gold recovery from. I have tried both Nitric acid diluted with distilled water and I have tried Hydrochloric acid also diluted with distilled water. Both I have came up with a negative outcome. Were the watches you processed "Plated" or were they "Filled" because when you were finished with your recovery, you had gold foils. As if the material was filled material. Filled being a much thicker plating. All I end up with is sediment in the bottom of my beaker, usually black or gray in color. I have refined karat gold and filled gold with a positive outcome, but the gold plated has me stumped. Your thoughts? Thank you for your time.
@@ЛёняДичь haven’t seen cheaper good ones that have heating and stirring working. But there are really good ones with defects that are cheap - I am planning to buy a second one cheap and repair 😀
Hi, in general by the 📚 aqua regia is 3:1 hydrochloric to nitric acid. In practice you can put gold foils in hydrochloric acid 15% as much acid as you decide and start adding slowly nitric acid by 1-2 ml until gold foils are dissolved. And heat please. The point is that hydrochloric acid you need as your get the auro-chloro complex and nitric acid is needed as a strong oxidizer. So, during the heating if gold stops dissolve you first add a little nitric acid and if reaction does not restart - add hydrochloric acid.
Regarding the water. When you dissolve base metal is recommended to use distilled water as if there is a lot of chloride in the water you may also lose gold. When aqua regia is formed - tap water is fine, but better distilled.
I loved watching the process. Thank you for an excellent video.
Thanks!
Hello Friend..
Excellent video, I really liked how gold appeared from the watch case.
Keep up the good work.
Have a nice week🤝👍
Thanks! Great week to you, too! 👍
Wow! Great vid!
Thanks!
Good job 👍
Thanks!
Давненько видео не было, хороший результат 👍👍🎃
Thanks 👻
So much gold from two housing :O I also have a gold plated watch.
So I have about 0.1 grams of gold 😃
Hi, depends on the gold plating thickness.
@@escrapchannel I have 10 micron :)
@@ufdiah can be even 0.15 depends on size and how long was used. Some good is rubbed off the case when on hand.
is the watch case stainless steel destroyed when doing this method ?

It is necessary to wash gold mud which is obtain from aquea regia solution after SMB dilution with hot water for 3to5 times.?Please, clear it.Thanku.
Yes, it is good to wash the residue. Thanks!
New sub here. Great video! Can this method be used on magnetic gold plated jewelry?
Hello, thanks! Yea.
@@escrapchannel Thank you for the reply. Very appreciated! Are you open to questions on gold and silver refining?
Sure, if I know the answer I will help.
@@escrapchannel Thank you! Very commendable and appreciated!👍👍👍

Привет, результат отличный. Мешалку для раствора тоже себе такую хочу.
Thanks! Found this one on eBay.de - second hand price was at about 100 euro.

Is it ok if i put 20ml hydrochloric acid? i have 15% acid. And what liquid did you at after filtering? distilled water?

@@escrapchannel i am talking only about recovery part.
Usually I always use distilled water in the lab 🧪. But it should be really bad tap water to mess up gold recovery stage. No harm to use tap water.
@@escrapchannel so you added after filtering nitric acid?
Does this work for gold plated also?
Yes, these are good plated, but is good plating to be thick!
@@escrapchannel I mean can you do this with Gold plated items?
Yes, but if bulky a lot of acid is used.
Looks green
As I said in the video … turned to be gold recovery from a dirty solution :) Some brass was left after the nitric acid and this coloured the solution.
Русские часики хорошие, по выходу золота значит примерно они были au10, 👍👍👍
10- ...
Thumbs Up
Thanks!
plated recovery is interesting but definitely not the best lol
For plating less than 10 microns ... agree! Not a lot 😀
@@escrapchannel still great content buddy.
Thanks!
