The difference between Saint and a grapple worm is that Saint’s tongue is a part of their body and they can control it however they want, and because they are larger than a grapple worm they are of course able to have a longer tongue. A grapple worm is just some small, confused and likely blind creature that you picked up and is begrudgingly following your whims as you force it to carry you around ceilings, so makes sense that it wouldn’t be as good as Saint’s tongue lol
I'll be honest I've tried to move up and downwards when using a grapple worm because of Saint's tounge mechanic working simular to the grapple worms. I don't know why only Saint had the ability to retract they're tounge to help them move upwards. I do like how they still made various differences between the grapple worms and Saint (other then having a free hand when you play as Saint)

You do realise that you can already satisfy every situation showcased here with side-grapples and wall jumps, right? Both literally being just holding left/right.
Yup, it was just a poorly demonstrated example, I'm not very good at vanilla graplleworming so I wasn't very imaginative when picking a good location that looked both appealing but demonstrated the weakness of normal grappleworms :S

now use Saint and the grapple hook at the same time and see how fast you go
The mod author accounted for that and Saint disables grappleworms I believe! :P

Question is can you spam the tongue button to climb up vertical walls like Saint can?
I think the reason that happens with Saint is the "hop" out of the grapple, so I imagine that it does work for this too! :)
