Genuinely surprised by the highest ranked characters. I’ve found in general people tend to like himiko and am genuinely baffled Kirigiri scored number 1 out of every character. Also how did none of the V3 trials make it?! Trial 1s twist of the culprit was amazing, 2 and 4 had hella sadness and 5 was both painful and tricky. Points for saying ranking the stories was unpossible tho
Yea! I was pretty surprised myself, trial 1 in V3 is probably one of my favourites in the series! But mind you I didn't collect nearly as much input from the fan base as I wish I could ! V3 trials and characters slap tho, no denying it !

It introduces us to logic vs heart conflict, to lead a big impact on the character development of Himiko. I"m surprise people didn"t like her , but she will have special place on my heart after giving a theme that is heart warming and breaking.
I'm not going too lie... I wanted Himiko to die, I found her so annoying THE ONLY PERSON IN V3 THAT LIVED THAT I LIKED WAS SHUICHI! Everyone Else I liked died... (except for Tsumugi... and Kaito... But I loved everyone else)
In terms of overall plot, I would definitely say that Danganronpa 1 was the most cohesive. Throughout the game, the game teased the player by showing them rooms that were locked, photographs that showed the victims, mysteriously placed notes and objects (ie. the secret room and the air purifier). It gave the player clues to the overall plot so that by the time trial 6 happened, it didn't feel as much of a plot dump. Thematic wise, Danganronpa 2 wins. The theme of Danganronpa 2 was of past vs future and each trial and motive challenged that theme into play. In Danganronpa 1, ngl I cringed by the whole hope vs despair bit they did cause it just felt so forced. However, when Danganronpa 2's ending came along, the theme of past vs future felt more conclusive.
FAT AGREE. We need a game as carefully structured as one was instead of '5 chapters of murdering and 1 huge plot reveal', I thought V3 did that but...HAH I couldn't have been more wrong.
also can i add that in my opinion danganronpa 1 had the best surviving group, every character felt like they had gone a long way and felt like they naturally gravitated towards eachother without it feeling like they were lumped together by luck of them not dying i feel like the surviving cast feels more fleshed out and natural compared to the other games
honestly tho like I actually really liked Junko in the prologue like she was kinda interesting even if it was Mukuro at first when she dies I was devastated but I never knew she was gonna survive anyway so I was like okay let's forget about her, then Chapt. 6 came around... anddddddddd yeah...
Personally, my favourite is V3. Everything about it is amazing to me, from the characters to the trials to even the ending. But I understand why others might not be as fond of it as I am.
My favorite will always be Trigger Happy Havoc. It was my first anime I had ever watched (went on to play the game, it was great) and the first character I had ever cried over, Leon. It holds a special place in my heart, and that can’t be beat.
Leon was the character i got attached to first and he died. like she said, the rules of danganronpa are dont get attached to characters and forget about the first rule and cry for a couple of hours after they die
You might want to turn down the music in the future it can overwhelm your voice at some times Edit:also UDG is really good and on par with the others simply due to the warriors of hope who I expected to be one note villains but just aren’t, also the notes from the people affected by the tragedy that you can find add so much to the mood and make you feel that despair
I love all the danganronpa games the same, but Danganronpa: THH will always have a special place in my heart. I cried, laughed, and felt with the characters. It was one of my first anime I watched (other than nichijou but that’s not the point) and it’s an overall amazing story
Trigger Happy Havoc is my favourite, it has the most likeable cast, a good unexpected plot twist at the end and amazing music. If this were my ranking list, all points would go to this game
V3 is definitely my favorite. It feels a bit longer than the other two and to me with it being a bit longer you get more time to know the cast and it's one hell of a cast. What appear to be one note characters develop and grow a little, whilst others just kinda stay to their whole shtick (lookin' at you Angie). It's also got some really creative murders and gruesome/horrifying executions, the cruelty of the second execution still hits me to this day. Then there's all the plot twists from start to finish, they really mess with you both mentally and emotionally. The whole Truth vs. Lies coupled with Logic vs. Emotion and how sometimes in these trials you gotta look past emotions to get to the logic. And last but not least, the trials, they're clever, they're insane, they're downright fun and personally I think have some of the best arguments because it has two of the smartest debaters in the franchise with Kiyo and Kokichi. Also, Scrum Debate is the best trial mechanic in the franchise.
I was fr so happy when DR2 won, it has always been my favorite main game. I love the characters, and Hajime is definitely my favorite protag.Thank you so much for making this🥺 Plus DR2 definitely was heartbreak after heartbreak,in the game and anime. I remember that I loved the SHSL Imposter and when he died I was soo sad, and the second trial made me have to take a break from the game for a few days.Hiyoko,Ibuki,Mikan,Nagito, and Chiaki Inflicted mor depression into my life then my anxiety can handle.And the climax of the 6th trial was soooo fun,finding out that all these smol beans I loved so dearly were actually the cause of the world going to hell,definitely hit close to home😤😭💜💜💜
my favorite game has to be v3. it was actually how i got IN to the franchise. i had watched the animes before, but didnt know there were games. i only discovered the games through v3 fanart. on top of that, it had my favorite characters (2/3 of my comfort characters are from drv3), my favorite ships, my most emotionally charged trials, AND it was the first game i bought myself also, dont get my started on the soundtrack and ui the game just holds such a special place in my heart
I honestly liked the overarching plot of DR1 best, I liked the general tone of 2 best and their characters, and V3 was my favorite in terms of the trials and mysteries

@@alex_valden I think people like Kokichi because he’s incredibly complex and is actually very interesting with his logic against belief persona. Also, about Gonta he didn’t force Gonta to do anything. In fact, he didn’t even lie to Gonta about anything, Gonta simply took it upon himself to save Kokichi which was helped by Kokichi showing him the truth.

The 53rd season went waaaaay too off the rails for my taste, so it's hard for me to even justify counting it when ranking them all. If we want to get really controversial though, then I feel like the first 23 seasons were the best. Those were definitely the most creative and interesting.

If I could be truthful, I can't really pick a favorite. Though if I had to choose: 1. V3 2. Trigger Happy Havoc 3. Goodbye Despair Here's what I love the most about the three: Trigger Happy Havoc - I loved the atmosphere of the first game a lot. There's just that eerie tone to it because you know it's in the real world (2nd game is in a simulation which really watered it down for me. 3rd we really have no idea lol). It gave the most chills and the trials also felt the most realistic as well. Goodbye Despair - The amount of world building is what I love. We get to know more about what happened in the outside world and it gave us answers to what happened to the school before things went down. Also the 6th investigation is one of my favorites. V3 - The way this game can mentally screw you up is impressive. The concept of truth vs lies is so good that now we question if Tsumugi was genuinely the culprit, if the killing game is really a simulation again or not, whether these kids besides the three survivors were just acting is so interesting. my personal favorite game in the series has to be V3. i loved almost every single aspect of it, from having (imo) the best cast, best trials, best visuals, soundtrack, and twists. i’ll be honest though, i wasn’t very fond of the ending myself i personally thought it ruined literally the entire game, but other than that i loved it.
I would actually add a few more categories than the ones described in this video, like executions (DR2 should’ve had some docked points for that category, just my opinion) and the mascots in each game should also play some role in determining which Danganronpa game is the best! (I prefer NO mascot, but hey, I liked Monodam in V3 lol). Edit: Additionally, I would probably make a reddit post or something to gather people’s opinions in one place, since it’s going to be more recent therefore reflecting the fandom’s opinion in the present, since I have done complete 180’s on characters before because of a new perspective or re-thinking what I knew about them. Just a suggestion! :D If possible after you finish UDG I would love to see a revised part 2!!
My personal favorite is V3. I think it has the most interesting story (I will forever defend that ending, and I will always cherish the small moments), the best cast (it's the only cast where I don't dislike anyone, and even has my favorite antagonist), and the best Hangman's Gambit (let's not kid ourselves; 2's was absolutely stupid).
I love V3 because outside of Miss Monomi's Practice Lesson, I don't remember the music from the first two that well, yet I remember so much of V3. The trails had me utterly flabbergasted because it took me a while to actually get into the series, so I basically knew all the killers, but I couldn't figure out how any of them did it in V3 until near the end. Whereas the other two were more easier and outside of two trials, I figured out how it all happened before we were halfway through, excluding the final trials. In V3 I loved basically the whole cast. Aside from Angie, I loved everyone in there. In the other two, there were 2+ characters I just flat out disliked no matter what they did in the story. For a few, it was absolutely nothing. And out of all the endings... I love V3's the most. The message Kodaka was sending out made me feel absolutely amazed. And so when I watch most others go through the trail... I get upset because they hate it because how meta it got. DR2's was inspirational though, so it's definitely not far behind.
I personally love V3 the most, I enjoyed the trials, adored the characters (Gonta is and always will be best boy) and then they had the talent plan mode that I really enjoyed. Also how did people hate Himiko mannnn

Danganronpa 2 is my favorite. I love the twist better and especially Hajime's journey where he wanted to have a talent, accepted being talentless and getting the talent but hated it then. I also love the trials of 1- 2 2-2(bc of the story) 2-4 2-5 3-1 and lastly 3-5 But 2-5 probably stick to me the most it's the most mindblowing one. I love all the games but seriously, I love 2 the most. It's amazing
My opinions: Story: V3 Plot: THH Trials: SDR2 Characters: SDR2 Music: V3 Executions: V3 Atmosphere: THH Ending: THH for best ending story-wise, SDR2 for best ending plot wise, V3 for best ending thematically speaking Most personal overall enjoyment: SDR2 I think each game does different things well. DR1 was easily the most invested I was in regarding the main plot (escaping the killing game) because of how claustrophobic the atmosphere was and how the characters were so distrusting of one another and how hopeless the game felt, much more so than in the other two games. It also helps that in the first game you don’t really know if anyone will survive or not or how things will play out, whereas in the other two games you have a general idea. The soundtrack and executions are also really good in THH. The second game I think has a weaker soundtrack, worse executions and the least despair inducing atmosphere, but the juxtaposition of the tropical climate with so many cool locations and the harsh reality of the killing game is actually something I really like. I love all the trials in this (besides the third, way to ruin multiple characters for me in one fell swoop) and while I think Kokichi and Byakuya’s interactions with the other characters in their respective games are really memorable while Nagito has very little of that, he fits the role of the unpredictable antagonist foil to an absolute tee because he is so unpredictable. Even with Kokichi I felt like I could see through his mask at times, but with Nagito I wouldn’t put anything past him. I also personally liked this game’s last trial the most of the three which is odd because Hajime is my least favorite protagonist and Chiaki is my lowest ranking main female protagonist (behind Kyoko and Kaede). Yet for some reason their moment in this trial is really the most memorable climax to me of anyone of the games, even if it is a bit ridiculous. Also the return of the main trio from DR1 gets my so hyped and Junko is easily the most entertaining here in her AI form. V3 had the best twists and the best gameplay by far especially with the improved interface, music and new trial mechanics. The executions were the most brutal, the emotions ran the highest, and the core group of main characters (Kaede, Shuichi, Kaito, Kokichi and Maki) is my favorite in all three games. But somehow the moments in the game just felt so much more superfluous at the end of the day. I don’t actually blame the final twist of everything being fictional quite as much I blame the complete nonexistent overarching plot. Every plot point they give you throughout the game is one of numerous possible contradicting plot points they could have given and it feels like none of the “plot” revelations amount to anything. The characters feel almost unnaturally trusting of each other (beside Kokichi) and they don’t feel as invested in escaping as they should. I also think the location is the weakest despite having pretty cool presentation. So yeah, V3 has some of the best parts of the series and THH has the best main narrative but as an overall experience I just enjoy SDR2 the most by quite a bit.
i think a lot of people got into danganronpa before v3 game out so they have a lot more affection for 2. personally, i actually played the series after v3 came out, so i don't have this problem. in my opinion, v3 has the best presentation, the best soundtrack, the best characters overall (though 2 have a few AMAZING ones), and the best trials. i was really surprised that none of v3's trials were in the top 5 because i would easily put 3 of them in my top 5. great video!
If you start with V3 you’re spoiled with the main twists in 1&2. A loooooot of the fun’s for 1 & 2 are not there when you know in advance that Junko is the mastermind/Nagito is an a**hole (from a Nagito fan)/2 students were despair & Hajime = Izuru
Tbh 2 is clearly a guilty pleasure for me 😺 I just really love the game with everything that it has. I liked that it was way more opened space, and you can go to so many places, the story was really good (though, I gotta admit, 1 probably had the best story imo), and the twists were ones that I genuinely didn’t expect, and all of the characters are just amazing
My favorite 2 trials are both from V3 The seesaw method, And Kokichi death... He is my favorite charcter but the fact he sacraficed himself to attempt to end the killing game shows his true colors.
Danganronpa 1 was pretty interesting because the last trial and the surviving cast made it interesting. Some of the trials were a bit bland but I’ll give it a lot of credit because it was the first game. Danganronpa 2 hit very high in my opinion. I liked Makoto from V1 but of all games, Hajime is my favourite protagonist one of the reasons being we had plot for the MC, but also I’d say he witnessed the most despair of all protagonists. A relatable character in other words. Also V2 plot hit differently we got Junko again in the matrix, Nagito’s trial, and the last trial. V3...was the downfall imo. We got interesting characters. Angie had great potential to be a killer, she could have had the entire student council lying as her alibi, instead got killed because she unintentionally interfered with Korekiyo’s plan. Ryouma, Angie, Rantaro, Yumiko (if that was the maid’s name), and Kokichi were the best. V3 was a let down by telling ME that this entire thing was just fucking fiction, that nothing happened, that it was all cap. They had some executions that were painful to watch, but they ruined it in the last trial. Extra: Shuichi was a pussy ass bitch give us Kaede back, ultimate detective my ass
Danganronpa THH is the best one. In my opinion, the trials were really touching and the characters were all different and unique and the styles of the executions were pretty amazing. Danganronpa 2 has the worst executions (besides Chiaki's) but the class trials didnt really touch me when I played it but the past was pretty touchy. Danganronpa 3 had good executions and the trials were amazing, Id say this is the third best game and it even had a good plot Despair girls is the second best one

I was first really introduced to danganronpa with the character Ibuki in danganronpa 2. So even though I went back to play the first game..... Danganronpa 2 pulled me in!
Im probably one of the only people in the fandom whose favorite game is Trigger Happy Havoc, but idk, everything about it makes me want to either laugh, cry, smile, scream, and throw my laptop across the room, and somehow, *that* is what makes me love it. And now im questioning my taste. (Also V3 really slaps tbh, the reason I don't like Goodbye Despair is bc its extremely overrated, and I found myself hating half of the cast, idk man) ÙwÚ

I am really digging your Danganronpa content! :D I don't mind most of the hated characters, although I can see why people wouldn't like them. Kind of interesting that all the most hated characters are female. But when Tsumugi came up I was like, "Oh yeah, she's the worst!" (My personal 5 least favorites are Teru Teru, Tsumugi, Miu, Hifumi, and... hm, maybe Hiyoko. My top 10 favorites are Chihiro, Makoto, Kokichi, Shuichi, Fuyuhiko, Chiaki, Rantaro, Aoi, Sonia, and Kyoko. And it was hard to narrow that down to 10 haha) I might have teared up a little during your reviews of the top trials, just reliving all those moments... so many beloved characters dying... Chihiro is my most favorite, so I was really sad at THH's second trial. I was also very surprised about the gender reveal. A main reason I love Chihiro so much is because he's truly so kind, considerate, and pure-hearted, so I was relieved to learn that his innocence wasn't a facade and he really was the sweetheart he seemed to be. I loved his strength of character and determination to do the right thing and not harm anyone. And the trial with Peko and Fuyuhiko was so emotional at the end. I loved Fuyuhiko's character growth throughout the game so much! THH is my favorite soundtrack too. :) I was so surprised when Kaede was the culprit in the first trial. I literally chose every single other character as the blackened before I finally had to pick her. (I guess that makes me look dumb, lol.) I loved Shuichi and I spent the trial being SO nervous for him. Personally, I really disliked the twist at the end of V3. During the last trial I had to keep taking breaks from playing because I was getting so annoyed. It was very successful at making me feel despair, though, haha. I love all the games, though! It's hard to pick a favorite. They each have things I appreciate. This video was really well-done and engaging! You earned a new subscriber :)
I think the best game hands down goes to DR2, it wasn't as cohesive as the original but it gave some subtle nods to the previous game and didnt wait to do it last minute like V3 examples of references in DR2 include; Nagito Komaeda whose name is an anagram for "Makoto Naegi da" or "I am Makoto Naegi" The parallel arc of Asahina and Owari (one of them was a happy person willing to work with the group to escape but when she friend dies she tries to kill everybody and the other was somebody who would rather work alone and thinks with her fists but when her friend dies she forgives his killer) The Sakura Statue in the grape house And there is probably more. Another thing that makes this game good is all but one of the characters have their own motivations (the one exception is the cardboard box that is Sonia Nevermind), another thing that makes this game good too Is one of its 5 survivors who has one of the best written characters arcs in danganronpa of course we all know who I am talking about, Owari Akane (I could talk about this for 40 years so for everybodies sake I will leave it at that), the games antagonist sid actual antagonistic things throughout the game that helped the plot move forward without the game needing that character (cough cough worst written character Ouma Kokichi, and b4 y'all say Kodaka spent lots of time with him, time+effort =/= good, I could spend 2 hours making a cake that tastes and looks like shit, just because I put time and effort into it dosent make it good) and overall I liked the new trial mechanics, really my 2 gripes with this game is Sonia Nevermind and trial 4, those are the TWO things that could have been improved
Personally I liked UDG. I loved the gameplay, the characters and of course the villain. Everything seemed well written and it made me laugh the most. I loved the character redemption of Byakuya and Toko. Only thing I hate is Haiji Towa..
The best in my opinion is trigger happy havoc The atmosphere, lore, ambience/music, the plot twists and executions are the best I’ve seen so far in the danganronpa series (my opinion) I personally believe that picking a BEST danganronpa game is very treacherous because each game is unique and the best at what it does, for example, DR2 is the best with characters, trials, mini games, creativity and character designs, the same goes with V3, they’re all special in their own way HOWEVER my personal favourite is ultra despair girls, yes it’s a spin off but it’s AMAZING, the anime scenes, being able to Rome around an entire city freely, fighting different types of monokumas, being able to Play as genocide jack, The animation, and it’s also the first game to ever have a female protagonist in the entire series (before V3) and overall the character development it gave for toko and komaru is beautiful, it’s message of friendship and team power is really nice, I can FULLY understand why people think V3 is the best game and totally respect that but for me personally it’ll always be THH and UDG that are my favourites.

Very good video liked the ranking system. I cannot decide which game is the best of then all. I love Trigger Happy Havoc for introducing me to this series and Goodbye Despair got me hooked up so much where at I played through the game in a whole week and the plottwist was incredible. V3 is visually the best, added awesome soundtracks and the final class trial was so emotional that I almost cried (Claire de lune helped a lot there). Do you think we will get a new main installment to the series soon? I hope we get one and I believe the chances are very good it will happen.
Trigger Happy Havoc is my favorite Good Story My Favorite Protagonist and Detective trio The atmosphere fitted perfect (Dark and Claustrophobic) Good Cast , Executions and it has a Bad Ending (Something little but it makes the game different) Sweet and Perfect music And a good plot-twist , being the first one and having a blind playthrough it's cool Trigger Happy Havoc is the best way to make a good game and start a franchise that can catch you with mistery Goodbye Despair is in the bottom of my list I didn't enjoy the story that much , i was like it's THH all over again but twisted Hinata was a Makoto 2.0 to me but more "Different" With Chiaki and Komaeda i don't have problems The cast was...Ok (It has Great Characters like Tanaka , Kuzuryuu but you have characters like Mikan or Mahiru) The music was Sweet The cases were cool as a sequel has to break all the stigmas that we created (But then you have the third case and Ok) The executions were nice not perfect but Ok The final plot twist i couldn't enjoy it as people did , i saw that coming since the beginning and seeing Junko coming back well...i expected more of that (Izuru as the Mastermind reverting back all the students back to despair could be a good bad ending) Goodbye Despair is a twisted version of Trigger happy havoc but with more anime things V3 was Perfect A good way to start (Kaede , Shuichi) Good cases and Executions The perfect cast Sweet music and more content The Best Plot Twist that Kodaka could have thought And an Ending that makes you think about it V3 is the best of both worlds
I love Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair because the story is nice, the fact that you don't feel alot of despair after finishing the game is because everyone is actually not dead (except for chiaki my fav ;-;) I'm not really a fan of Danganronpa v3: Killing Harmony because every character was very enthusiastic to their Ultimate (in my opinion) and then the fact that all their backstories and personality and ultimate is fake just made me sad. And how they act is pretty cringey (FOR ME), I also dont like the Monokubs. Well, The design and artstyle was pretty good also the trailer. Danganronpa 1: Trigger Happy Havoc is pretty normal to me, the fact that it is the first ever game of the series and had a decent plot. I personally felt that Danganronpa 1 had the best atmosphere as you felt trapped. I think it's because you are trapped in a building with no sense of time and what is happening in the outside world, and no sun coming from the outside (I think the sun part is important). In terms of characters I liked, it depends. For example the 6th case in the 1st case had the most characters, but it had the least amount of characters I liked that lived (looking back, it might be tied with the second game). The characters that lived during the 6th case in the 3rd game, for the most part, I really liked. In terms of cases, 2-1 is a little overrated to me. I think the best part is the reveal about Nagito, but Teruteru doesn't interest me as a character so I wasn't that emotional invested in the story. It also doesn't help that the Imposter character doesn't have any importance in the story. I know that 3-3 isn't a well-liked case, and I didn't like it when I played it...however, overtime I think I've soften on it. I will attempt that the biggest issue I had was having a mental picture of how the seesaw worked. However, it did have some interesting elements (the 2nd death happening during an investigation and a possible 3rd death). I feel like 3-2 is the weakest in the game as it annoys me how close the characters got in the 1st case to getting the bad guy, only to just walk away from it. As a gamer, it is annoying as I know that we won't be getting back here until the final case. I felt like with the other cases there was a good enough reason as to why they won't be getting through the door. 3-4, 3-5, and 3-6 are really good cases, along with case 3-1. I actually liked 1-5, even if it isn't liked among from the fandom. 1-4 is an interesting case, but after it, I didn't care for many of the cast. 1-2 and 1-6 were also good cases. 1-1 was a little too easy for a first case, not as easy as the first case in Ace Attorney, but a bit too easy. 1-6 is an overall good ending. 1-3 could've been interesting, but Celeste was way too overt that she was the culprit. 2-2 was an interest case with the idea of a person being a weapon and how that is a loophole. Also, the emotional moments. 2-3 is a really bad case. I don't think I've seen anyone defend it. 2-4 is a really good case...if you watch it. I wouldn't rate it as highly if I had to play through it as I could see myself struggling with forming a mental picture in my head. Gundam was a blast and I felt like he was the closest a murderer has gotten to getting away with murder (you could argue 2-5 or 3-5, but I felt those two were slightly different to not really count). 2-5 is an amazing case! Just watching people play it is amazing. It is like a chill running down their spine as they realized what Nagito did, and how fucked they truly are. I didn't really like 2-6, it was just boring and not that interesting to me. It felt like the characters were repeating themselves, and it dragged. I know that people didn't like 3-6 for dragging, but at least to me, it felt like 3-6 didn't overstay its welcome.
THH has good characters and trials, but I like them all about the same. V3 has great characters and trials, but some that I really don't care for (Tsumugi). Overall SDR2 had the most consistent good characters, and trials. V3 may have some of my favorite characters of all time (Kokichi and Kaito), but is just beat by a bit because of DR2.
I'm surprised SDR2 won, although it's my favorite too. I thought V3 is going to be the best D: But i'm happy! (ultra despair girls is a very good game too...It's sad it couldn't be included here...)

Genuinely surprised by the highest ranked characters. I’ve found in general people tend to like himiko and am genuinely baffled Kirigiri scored number 1 out of every character. Also how did none of the V3 trials make it?! Trial 1s twist of the culprit was amazing, 2 and 4 had hella sadness and 5 was both painful and tricky. Points for saying ranking the stories was unpossible tho

In terms of overall plot, I would definitely say that Danganronpa 1 was the most cohesive. Throughout the game, the game teased the player by showing them rooms that were locked, photographs that showed the victims, mysteriously placed notes and objects (ie. the secret room and the air purifier). It gave the player clues to the overall plot so that by the time trial 6 happened, it didn't feel as much of a plot dump.
Thematic wise, Danganronpa 2 wins. The theme of Danganronpa 2 was of past vs future and each trial and motive challenged that theme into play. In Danganronpa 1, ngl I cringed by the whole hope vs despair bit they did cause it just felt so forced. However, when Danganronpa 2's ending came along, the theme of past vs future felt more conclusive.
FAT AGREE. We need a game as carefully structured as one was instead of '5 chapters of murdering and 1 huge plot reveal', I thought V3 did that but...HAH I couldn't have been more wrong.

My favorite will always be Trigger Happy Havoc. It was my first anime I had ever watched (went on to play the game, it was great) and the first character I had ever cried over, Leon. It holds a special place in my heart, and that can’t be beat.

I love all the danganronpa games the same, but Danganronpa: THH will always have a special place in my heart. I cried, laughed, and felt with the characters. It was one of my first anime I watched (other than nichijou but that’s not the point) and it’s an overall amazing story
Trigger Happy Havoc is my favourite, it has the most likeable cast, a good unexpected plot twist at the end and amazing music. If this were my ranking list, all points would go to this game
V3 is definitely my favorite. It feels a bit longer than the other two and to me with it being a bit longer you get more time to know the cast and it's one hell of a cast. What appear to be one note characters develop and grow a little, whilst others just kinda stay to their whole shtick (lookin' at you Angie). It's also got some really creative murders and gruesome/horrifying executions, the cruelty of the second execution still hits me to this day. Then there's all the plot twists from start to finish, they really mess with you both mentally and emotionally. The whole Truth vs. Lies coupled with Logic vs. Emotion and how sometimes in these trials you gotta look past emotions to get to the logic. And last but not least, the trials, they're clever, they're insane, they're downright fun and personally I think have some of the best arguments because it has two of the smartest debaters in the franchise with Kiyo and Kokichi. Also, Scrum Debate is the best trial mechanic in the franchise.

Also, about Gonta he didn’t force Gonta to do anything. In fact, he didn’t even lie to Gonta about anything, Gonta simply took it upon himself to save Kokichi which was helped by Kokichi showing him the truth.

Here's what I love the most about the three:
Trigger Happy Havoc - I loved the atmosphere of the first game a lot. There's just that eerie tone to it because you know it's in the real world (2nd game is in a simulation which really watered it down for me. 3rd we really have no idea lol). It gave the most chills and the trials also felt the most realistic as well.
Goodbye Despair - The amount of world building is what I love. We get to know more about what happened in the outside world and it gave us answers to what happened to the school before things went down. Also the 6th investigation is one of my favorites.
V3 - The way this game can mentally screw you up is impressive. The concept of truth vs lies is so good that now we question if Tsumugi was genuinely the culprit, if the killing game is really a simulation again or not, whether these kids besides the three survivors were just acting is so interesting.

my personal favorite game in the series has to be V3. i loved almost every single aspect of it, from having (imo) the best cast, best trials, best visuals, soundtrack, and twists. i’ll be honest though, i wasn’t very fond of the ending myself i personally thought it ruined literally the entire game, but other than that i loved it.

The trials you listed as the fan favourites are actually in my Top 6 (including V3-1), how curious. My favourite game is SDR2 but I love all of them
I would actually add a few more categories than the ones described in this video, like executions (DR2 should’ve had some docked points for that category, just my opinion) and the mascots in each game should also play some role in determining which Danganronpa game is the best! (I prefer NO mascot, but hey, I liked Monodam in V3 lol).
Edit: Additionally, I would probably make a reddit post or something to gather people’s opinions in one place, since it’s going to be more recent therefore reflecting the fandom’s opinion in the present, since I have done complete 180’s on characters before because of a new perspective or re-thinking what I knew about them. Just a suggestion! :D

My personal favorite is V3. I think it has the most interesting story (I will forever defend that ending, and I will always cherish the small moments), the best cast (it's the only cast where I don't dislike anyone, and even has my favorite antagonist), and the best Hangman's Gambit (let's not kid ourselves; 2's was absolutely stupid).
SDR2 Characters are the ones I'm very fond of
I love V3 because outside of Miss Monomi's Practice Lesson, I don't remember the music from the first two that well, yet I remember so much of V3.
The trails had me utterly flabbergasted because it took me a while to actually get into the series, so I basically knew all the killers, but I couldn't figure out how any of them did it in V3 until near the end. Whereas the other two were more easier and outside of two trials, I figured out how it all happened before we were halfway through, excluding the final trials.
In V3 I loved basically the whole cast. Aside from Angie, I loved everyone in there. In the other two, there were 2+ characters I just flat out disliked no matter what they did in the story. For a few, it was absolutely nothing.
And out of all the endings... I love V3's the most. The message Kodaka was sending out made me feel absolutely amazed. And so when I watch most others go through the trail... I get upset because they hate it because how meta it got. DR2's was inspirational though, so it's definitely not far behind.
I personally love V3 the most, I enjoyed the trials, adored the characters (Gonta is and always will be best boy) and then they had the talent plan mode that I really enjoyed.

Most personal overall enjoyment: SDR2
I think each game does different things well. DR1 was easily the most invested I was in regarding the main plot (escaping the killing game) because of how claustrophobic the atmosphere was and how the characters were so distrusting of one another and how hopeless the game felt, much more so than in the other two games. It also helps that in the first game you don’t really know if anyone will survive or not or how things will play out, whereas in the other two games you have a general idea. The soundtrack and executions are also really good in THH.
The second game I think has a weaker soundtrack, worse executions and the least despair inducing atmosphere, but the juxtaposition of the tropical climate with so many cool locations and the harsh reality of the killing game is actually something I really like. I love all the trials in this (besides the third, way to ruin multiple characters for me in one fell swoop) and while I think Kokichi and Byakuya’s interactions with the other characters in their respective games are really memorable while Nagito has very little of that, he fits the role of the unpredictable antagonist foil to an absolute tee because he is so unpredictable. Even with Kokichi I felt like I could see through his mask at times, but with Nagito I wouldn’t put anything past him. I also personally liked this game’s last trial the most of the three which is odd because Hajime is my least favorite protagonist and Chiaki is my lowest ranking main female protagonist (behind Kyoko and Kaede). Yet for some reason their moment in this trial is really the most memorable climax to me of anyone of the games, even if it is a bit ridiculous. Also the return of the main trio from DR1 gets my so hyped and Junko is easily the most entertaining here in her AI form.
V3 had the best twists and the best gameplay by far especially with the improved interface, music and new trial mechanics. The executions were the most brutal, the emotions ran the highest, and the core group of main characters (Kaede, Shuichi, Kaito, Kokichi and Maki) is my favorite in all three games. But somehow the moments in the game just felt so much more superfluous at the end of the day. I don’t actually blame the final twist of everything being fictional quite as much I blame the complete nonexistent overarching plot. Every plot point they give you throughout the game is one of numerous possible contradicting plot points they could have given and it feels like none of the “plot” revelations amount to anything. The characters feel almost unnaturally trusting of each other (beside Kokichi) and they don’t feel as invested in escaping as they should. I also think the location is the weakest despite having pretty cool presentation.
So yeah, V3 has some of the best parts of the series and THH has the best main narrative but as an overall experience I just enjoy SDR2 the most by quite a bit.

i think a lot of people got into danganronpa before v3 game out so they have a lot more affection for 2. personally, i actually played the series after v3 came out, so i don't have this problem. in my opinion, v3 has the best presentation, the best soundtrack, the best characters overall (though 2 have a few AMAZING ones), and the best trials. i was really surprised that none of v3's trials were in the top 5 because i would easily put 3 of them in my top 5. great video!

Danganronpa 1 was pretty interesting because the last trial and the surviving cast made it interesting. Some of the trials were a bit bland but I’ll give it a lot of credit because it was the first game.
Danganronpa 2 hit very high in my opinion. I liked Makoto from V1 but of all games, Hajime is my favourite protagonist one of the reasons being we had plot for the MC, but also I’d say he witnessed the most despair of all protagonists. A relatable character in other words. Also V2 plot hit differently we got Junko again in the matrix, Nagito’s trial, and the last trial.
V3...was the downfall imo. We got interesting characters. Angie had great potential to be a killer, she could have had the entire student council lying as her alibi, instead got killed because she unintentionally interfered with Korekiyo’s plan. Ryouma, Angie, Rantaro, Yumiko (if that was the maid’s name), and Kokichi were the best. V3 was a let down by telling ME that this entire thing was just fucking fiction, that nothing happened, that it was all cap. They had some executions that were painful to watch, but they ruined it in the last trial.

Danganronpa THH is the best one. In my opinion, the trials were really touching and the characters were all different and unique and the styles of the executions were pretty amazing.
Danganronpa 2 has the worst executions (besides Chiaki's) but the class trials didnt really touch me when I played it but the past was pretty touchy.
Danganronpa 3 had good executions and the trials were amazing, Id say this is the third best game and it even had a good plot

I was first really introduced to danganronpa with the character Ibuki in danganronpa 2. So even though I went back to play the first game..... Danganronpa 2 pulled me in!

Im probably one of the only people in the fandom whose favorite game is Trigger Happy Havoc, but idk, everything about it makes me want to either laugh, cry, smile, scream, and throw my laptop across the room, and somehow, *that* is what makes me love it. And now im questioning my taste. (Also V3 really slaps tbh, the reason I don't like Goodbye Despair is bc its extremely overrated, and I found myself hating half of the cast, idk man) ÙwÚ

ok in my opinion V3 had the best character's best trials for SURE are V2 so i agree with that and i also agree with V3 as the best visuals and for sound track i dont really know best twist i have to say i agree with all of them
Goodbye despair is the danganronpa magnum opus, best game for sure
My personal favorite game has to be v3. The cast was amazing and the chemistry was fantastic. I loved every v3 character. Even tsumugi and Korekiyo I loved.

I don't mind most of the hated characters, although I can see why people wouldn't like them. Kind of interesting that all the most hated characters are female. But when Tsumugi came up I was like, "Oh yeah, she's the worst!" (My personal 5 least favorites are Teru Teru, Tsumugi, Miu, Hifumi, and... hm, maybe Hiyoko. My top 10 favorites are Chihiro, Makoto, Kokichi, Shuichi, Fuyuhiko, Chiaki, Rantaro, Aoi, Sonia, and Kyoko. And it was hard to narrow that down to 10 haha)
I might have teared up a little during your reviews of the top trials, just reliving all those moments... so many beloved characters dying... Chihiro is my most favorite, so I was really sad at THH's second trial. I was also very surprised about the gender reveal. A main reason I love Chihiro so much is because he's truly so kind, considerate, and pure-hearted, so I was relieved to learn that his innocence wasn't a facade and he really was the sweetheart he seemed to be. I loved his strength of character and determination to do the right thing and not harm anyone. And the trial with Peko and Fuyuhiko was so emotional at the end. I loved Fuyuhiko's character growth throughout the game so much!
THH is my favorite soundtrack too. :)
I was so surprised when Kaede was the culprit in the first trial. I literally chose every single other character as the blackened before I finally had to pick her. (I guess that makes me look dumb, lol.) I loved Shuichi and I spent the trial being SO nervous for him.
Personally, I really disliked the twist at the end of V3. During the last trial I had to keep taking breaks from playing because I was getting so annoyed. It was very successful at making me feel despair, though, haha.
I love all the games, though! It's hard to pick a favorite. They each have things I appreciate.

v3, no contest, it is a masterpiece
I think the best game hands down goes to DR2, it wasn't as cohesive as the original but it gave some subtle nods to the previous game and didnt wait to do it last minute like V3 examples of references in DR2 include;
Nagito Komaeda whose name is an anagram for "Makoto Naegi da" or "I am Makoto Naegi"
The parallel arc of Asahina and Owari (one of them was a happy person willing to work with the group to escape but when she friend dies she tries to kill everybody and the other was somebody who would rather work alone and thinks with her fists but when her friend dies she forgives his killer)

Another thing that makes this game good is all but one of the characters have their own motivations (the one exception is the cardboard box that is Sonia Nevermind), another thing that makes this game good too Is one of its 5 survivors who has one of the best written characters arcs in danganronpa of course we all know who I am talking about, Owari Akane (I could talk about this for 40 years so for everybodies sake I will leave it at that), the games antagonist sid actual antagonistic things throughout the game that helped the plot move forward without the game needing that character (cough cough worst written character Ouma Kokichi, and b4 y'all say Kodaka spent lots of time with him, time+effort =/= good, I could spend 2 hours making a cake that tastes and looks like shit, just because I put time and effort into it dosent make it good) and overall I liked the new trial mechanics, really my 2 gripes with this game is Sonia Nevermind and trial 4, those are the TWO things that could have been improved
I feel personally attached all some of my favorite characters except Angie where all in the least favorite category

Personally I liked UDG. I loved the gameplay, the characters and of course the villain. Everything seemed well written and it made me laugh the most. I loved the character redemption of Byakuya and Toko. Only thing I hate is Haiji Towa..

The atmosphere, lore, ambience/music, the plot twists and executions are the best I’ve seen so far in the danganronpa series (my opinion) I personally believe that picking a BEST danganronpa game is very treacherous because each game is unique and the best at what it does, for example, DR2 is the best with characters, trials, mini games, creativity and character designs, the same goes with V3, they’re all special in their own way
HOWEVER my personal favourite is ultra despair girls, yes it’s a spin off but it’s AMAZING, the anime scenes, being able to Rome around an entire city freely, fighting different types of monokumas, being able to
Play as genocide jack, The animation, and it’s also the first game to ever have a female protagonist in the entire series (before V3) and overall the character development it gave for toko and komaru is beautiful, it’s message of friendship and team power is really nice, I can FULLY understand why people think V3 is the best game and totally respect that but for me personally it’ll always be THH and UDG that are my favourites.

i (jokingly) rank games purely based on soundtrack so it's a 3-way tie for first place (4 if you count ugd)
I'd argue for V3 that Case 4 should've been in the top 5. Here's how I would have done it (not my personal list, but just rearranged):

Very good video liked the ranking system. I cannot decide which game is the best of then all. I love Trigger Happy Havoc for introducing me to this series and Goodbye Despair got me hooked up so much where at I played through the game in a whole week and the plottwist was incredible. V3 is visually the best, added awesome soundtracks and the final class trial was so emotional that I almost cried (Claire de lune helped a lot there).
Do you think we will get a new main installment to the series soon? I hope we get one and I believe the chances are very good it will happen.

I didn't enjoy the story that much , i was like it's THH all over again but twisted
Hinata was a Makoto 2.0 to me but more "Different" With Chiaki and Komaeda i don't have problems
The cast was...Ok (It has Great Characters like Tanaka , Kuzuryuu but you have characters like Mikan or Mahiru)
The music was Sweet
The cases were cool as a sequel has to break all the stigmas that we created (But then you have the third case and Ok)
The executions were nice not perfect but Ok
The final plot twist i couldn't enjoy it as people did , i saw that coming since the beginning and seeing Junko coming back well...i expected more of that (Izuru as the Mastermind reverting back all the students back to despair could be a good bad ending)
Goodbye Despair is a twisted version of Trigger happy havoc but with more anime things

I love Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair because the story is nice, the fact that you don't feel alot of despair after finishing the game is because everyone is actually not dead (except for chiaki my fav ;-;)
I'm not really a fan of Danganronpa v3: Killing Harmony because every character was very enthusiastic to their Ultimate (in my opinion) and then the fact that all their backstories and personality and ultimate is fake just made me sad. And how they act is pretty cringey (FOR ME), I also dont like the Monokubs. Well, The design and artstyle was pretty good also the trailer.
Danganronpa 1: Trigger Happy Havoc is pretty normal to me, the fact that it is the first ever game of the series and had a decent plot. I dont like the trailer though (so many spoilers)

I personally felt that Danganronpa 1 had the best atmosphere as you felt trapped. I think it's because you are trapped in a building with no sense of time and what is happening in the outside world, and no sun coming from the outside (I think the sun part is important).
In terms of characters I liked, it depends. For example the 6th case in the 1st case had the most characters, but it had the least amount of characters I liked that lived (looking back, it might be tied with the second game). The characters that lived during the 6th case in the 3rd game, for the most part, I really liked.
In terms of cases, 2-1 is a little overrated to me. I think the best part is the reveal about Nagito, but Teruteru doesn't interest me as a character so I wasn't that emotional invested in the story. It also doesn't help that the Imposter character doesn't have any importance in the story.
I know that 3-3 isn't a well-liked case, and I didn't like it when I played it...however, overtime I think I've soften on it. I will attempt that the biggest issue I had was having a mental picture of how the seesaw worked. However, it did have some interesting elements (the 2nd death happening during an investigation and a possible 3rd death).
I feel like 3-2 is the weakest in the game as it annoys me how close the characters got in the 1st case to getting the bad guy, only to just walk away from it. As a gamer, it is annoying as I know that we won't be getting back here until the final case. I felt like with the other cases there was a good enough reason as to why they won't be getting through the door.
3-4, 3-5, and 3-6 are really good cases, along with case 3-1.
I actually liked 1-5, even if it isn't liked among from the fandom. 1-4 is an interesting case, but after it, I didn't care for many of the cast. 1-2 and 1-6 were also good cases. 1-1 was a little too easy for a first case, not as easy as the first case in Ace Attorney, but a bit too easy. 1-6 is an overall good ending. 1-3 could've been interesting, but Celeste was way too overt that she was the culprit.
2-2 was an interest case with the idea of a person being a weapon and how that is a loophole. Also, the emotional moments. 2-3 is a really bad case. I don't think I've seen anyone defend it. 2-4 is a really good case...if you watch it. I wouldn't rate it as highly if I had to play through it as I could see myself struggling with forming a mental picture in my head. Gundam was a blast and I felt like he was the closest a murderer has gotten to getting away with murder (you could argue 2-5 or 3-5, but I felt those two were slightly different to not really count). 2-5 is an amazing case! Just watching people play it is amazing. It is like a chill running down their spine as they realized what Nagito did, and how fucked they truly are.
I didn't really like 2-6, it was just boring and not that interesting to me. It felt like the characters were repeating themselves, and it dragged. I know that people didn't like 3-6 for dragging, but at least to me, it felt like 3-6 didn't overstay its welcome.
THH has good characters and trials, but I like them all about the same. V3 has great characters and trials, but some that I really don't care for (Tsumugi). Overall SDR2 had the most consistent good characters, and trials. V3 may have some of my favorite characters of all time (Kokichi and Kaito), but is just beat by a bit because of DR2.
