I waved to Maverick in the intro standing in the window so I was smitten from the start! My heart was in my throat watching you carry that old window down the ladder hoping it wouldn't break apart on you! Maverick was so happy and thrilled at having a strawberry 🍓 bed! He did a great job for his age, so patient, gentle and listened well to instructions by mom. The pure joy on his face is priceless! Mom was pretty proud of him too He! He is turning into quite the ham on camera, tilting his head backwards at the end and having fun with it. Think he is going to have your humor, Doug! He so obviously loves his parents with all his heart, giving lots of hugs to you and you giving in return. You take a property and turn it into something magical for yourselves. I'm so envious but at the same time feeling you so deserve it! Your hard work paid off!
I agree with Maverick, it's a great day to plant strawberries! Until they get established good, plant some marigolds around and in between them. It will help deter bugs and pests that get in strawberries.
I always have strawberries growing because I love to eat them. My grandchildren would often beat me to the ripe ones. Maverick did a great job of planting them. He’s a very smart and capable boy. He’s growing up right and learning wonderful skills. Great job guys. 😊

Try letting the kids paint small rock to look like strawberries. Scatter them in the strawberry bed. Birds will peck at them and become discouraged. Then they will leave the real strawberries alone.
Being a little older my grandma used to tell me to breakup the rootball and add a little bit of water to the base of the hole to give the roots an extra boost. Good luck with your strawberries

Yeah, these windows are only held in by the trim. The actual window frame is not attach to anything else. If you pull the trim, they come right out. The doors are all the same way too.

I have to laugh. My husband gets so angry at me and yells at me all the time for standing on the very top "this is not a step" step of all the step ladders we own. The beginning of the video Doug is standing on the "this is not a step" step of the ladder pulling a window out and that is so something I would do. And then when my husband found out he'd have a heart attack which is why I don't do it when he's home.😂🤣😂🤣😂
Made the same mistake that I did with the strawberries. Have to lossen up the roots before planting. Too many plants going to get so many runners and quickly crowd the bed.
We hope for the best, but are prepared for anything. Even if the garden doesn't do great, at least it's a start! But we're happy that you like our garden beds. We think it's all turning out really cool! We haven't really talked about this yet, but we also want to get some quail. I just have to plan out some good cages and get everything ready. I know you have some quail so I figured I'd let you know :)
I’ll have some chicks soon. Just started incubating, wished I lived close because you could have some, i have great breeding stock. I told myself I was taking a break on quail but my husband loves them so I had to compromise lol can’t wait to see your future endeavors.

We paint small rocks to look like strawberries n place them in the bed around strawberry plants so when the plants fruit the birds just think its hard rocks.. Might work for you too. Love the porch!#

Have you thought about making a wee transport trolly for under washing machine, with front lockable wheels , so if need be, you can move it in and out?
When a plant grows in a container the roots of the plant are growing in a circle, when you are putting the plant in the earth, you can mark out / cut the roots (make a scratch down every 7cm), then the plant will make new roots in every direction, so the plant can grow better.
