My mom didn't need the men's club chef's recipe. She knew how to make hash so that it was edible and enjoyable. Now my daughter makes her own from scratch, and her entire family enjoys. But I'm wondering what is bizarre about this commercial? The idea of invisible wasn't new back then, so that can't be why it's bizarre. Oh! I get it. the fact that a woman not only wants to cook for her family, but to please her husband. smh That's the only thing that I see as being bizarre for some.
Thank You Jesus Christ for proving ME with ALL of my Heavenly and Healthy CORN Beef HASH, and a Half Dozen POACHED Eggs, ☕ Coffee, ORANGE Juice, Toast and Plenty of ICE Princess 😅
Ugh, I remember all too well being made to eat corned beef hash as a little girl. I think I would have liked it more if my mother hadn't made it with eggs on top; I hate eggs. But no matter. They still make corned beef hash in cans, but I don't miss it.
omg there is so much to love here. ladies. men's clubs. fine chefs who make hash. women were already invisible in the 50s, so that wasn't much of a stretch hehe. awesome post!
The ad seems fine to me. RE: Corned beef hash. Eh, it's good every now and then. Fairly good with a couple eggs over easy and two pieces of wheat toast.
If you know anything about 1950s American consumer culture, you'd know there isn't anything even remotely "bizarre" about this commercial. Nearly ever quick processed food sold today originated in the 1950s and 60s. It was what the postwar families wanted - and some still do.
"...there isn't anything even remotely "bizarre" about this commercial." So you're saying there's nothing even remotely bizarre about a woman making herself invisible in order to find out what they're eating in a men's club?
@@n28i64 ~ Well, seeing as how she's a woman and wouldn't be allowed in, she had to be invisible. What's 'bizarre' about that? You're a millennial dope aren't you?
Long time since I saw this first time - @gerry301 reminded me. Just realised 'men like hash'! I thought this was a straight-laced add for some corned beef hash, which every man loves (of course), not a drug-crazed pushing tape?!
Mmmmm... always loved corned beef hash. Who doesn't like it? Don't know about those "men's clubs" though... don't think hash was the first thing on the men's mind there.
Is Corned Beef Hash really that wonderful? I put it on the same class of foods such as Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast & Chopped Liver. In short, repellent.
Actually I like corned beef hash. I don;t consume it often as it's probably not the healthiest kind of meat to have, but every once in a blue moon I'll buy a can and I do like to heat it and have it with eggs as a breakfast dish..
I like Creamed Chipped Beef On Toast. Never had chopped liver, but liver cooked with bacon or sauteed onions can be good, as long as it is not overcooked.

Serve it with a side of buttered toast and you’re set.

That's why us men don't want you in our Club. ;-)
@ blueangel0925 ~ No one asked your opinion. Shut your pie hole, get back in the kitchen and make some more corned beef hash. Chop, chop!

If made the right way, it would probably be yummy. And maybe have it with Baker's hot chocolate, too? :)
Love hash and eggs.

***** I agree with Gordon. By "1950s" standards this was just a run of the mill commercial

Graphic! Men's club spuz is in it!
I LOVE corned beef hash...and I'm a girl.
Victoria Grace Good for you! How do you feel about roast beef hash?

They mean hashish
+ferociousgumby Spare some, cuz?
slop? apparently you have never had any otherwise you would not be so rude.
I like it but that stuff is bad for you.
WTMF? Made the 'Men's Club Way'?!

@@WitchidWitchid Feel the same way. I eat it rarely, but I do enjoy it especially with poached eggs on top...yum!!
...its looks disgusting.
