even though this is over 10 years ago, is this still the same dhs hurricane rubber in todays time? or is this rubber an old version of hurricane 3 and 3 neo?
A while ago, when I first watched this video, I felt it was complete trash (quality and information content). But now that I rewatch it, it seems like he put a lot of thought, time, and information in it. I appreciate this now much more than I did before.
This was absolutely amazing, im so glad it came up in my recommended videos. I also play drums and tennis and i wish tennis players and drummers could make reviews as professional as this.
You do realize that Zhang Jike uses the national version, and that will cost a fair bit. I'm not sure how it's priced wherever you come from, but where I live, National Hurricanes cost the same as Tenergy 05s. And besides, there are many rubbers that perform similarly and could play better than Hurricane in your case.
My neo 2.15 weighed 58g and after cutting 45g (The cutted waste rubber was 13g so 58-13=45). My blade joola k5 is 83g. 45+45+82=172g but at the end it showed 176g on the scale, 4g difference would be the glue i suppose. Rubbers get very dirty but the spin is amazing.
Damn this video already 11 years. I remember I watched it first time it's only few weeks. For me personally these 2 rubbers can use interchangeably. The rubber is easy to play really good for beginner that try to develop a good stroke/form. It's more forgiving more than some ancient chinese rubbers but still need you to perform a good stroke to hit effectively. There are tons of chinese rubber that more forgiving or more strict just think h3 is gold standard for chinese rubber.
Dear PathfinderPro team.... First of all ... this specific video HAS BEEN BY FAR THE BEST EVER I HAVE SEEN, SHOWING A VERY GOOD TEST CLOSEST POSSIBLE TO THE MOST APPROPRIATE WAY OF JUDGING A RUBBER.... I am sure if you do the same video testing other rubbers, it will be the most watched for sure. Have you heard about NO BRAND 999 rubber? First of all Congrats for all your videos I have seen so far. All of them are REALLY GREAT. I play really close to the table, I am 6.3 tall and dont have a good drive (top spin), it is too difficult for me to bent and do the proper movement, I am a bit too slow too. therefore from what I have read TENERGY05 seems it would be good rubber for me, but before I spend a lot of money on it, I would like your guidance... Of course I know it depends on my skills and type of game... My style of game is much more defensive and forcing the opponent to make errors, i love playing BACKSPIN and more BACKSPIN and counter attack on the opponents attack with my very hard and dry SMASH attack. :D I am not on the professional level, but play quite well, I am used play with old chinese hard and very tacky rubbers like Firenship... but now I want to change and try THE SPINNIEST RUBBER POSSIBLE... VERY VERY SPINNY rubbers, I am crazy reading all about.... there are sooooo many videos with comments, some seems to be very commercial to me trying to sell their brand, I trust much more on you guys from PING SKILLS. What are the rubbers you recommend me the most, not too fast but THE MOST SPIN. I have read a lot good about theses ones: Tenergy05... DHS Hurricane 3 NEO... Andro Power Grip.. Ahhh I play with only one side of the racket.... I don care about price, of course it if is more durable better... I have got a very good sidespin serve, but will follow your guidance to improve it. Thanks SOOO MUCH IN ADVANCE.
Thanks, what is the difference between soft and hard rubbers? What is best for an offensive player, attacking, and puts a lot of topspin on the ball player?
could you tell me where i can find info about hardness, just like in the minutes 3:28. i want to buy combination rubber for BH and FH, like in the another video. hardness FH is hardness BH +2. Thanks for the answer.
Thank you very much, and is a hard sponge e.g 1.5 mm and a soft sponge e.g. 2.1 mm or how does it work if you only have an option of thickness for the sponge?:)
@PathfinderPro every couple of points usualy if you see a layer of dust.. proceed to breathe onto rubber and wipe on shorts( dont use hands as there is grease there and is detrimental to rubber performance
Would you say that its not possible to learn how to play properly with H3 neo after only having played a couple of months with a softer sponge? Most people say that you should not play with a hard sponge unless you have learned the proper technique first, but I question this. My form is not good, but I decided to take off the training wheels early. I have a robot and am trying to create the proper stroke by hitting hard from the get go.
As a coach I would recommend smooth fluid strokes. Get the technique right first, get a feel for what you are doing and then if your timing is right and your technique smooth power and spin will come. Do not forget the impact your choice of blade will have.
Great video, thanks! Peeease can you these tests again on many other rubbers, e.g. joola tango extreme and ultra, Butterfly Sriver G3 FX and Butterfly Sriver L rev, and Joola Drum CWX and Butterfly Roundell! Thank you very much, great video really helpful!:)
You do realize that Zhang Jike uses the national version, and that will cost a fair bit. I'm not sure how it's priced wherever you come from, but where I live, National Hurricanes cost the same as Tenergy 05s. And besides, there are many rubbers out there which are good enough.
I like the DHS Battle II. Nice tacky rubber, good dwell time and helpful in service return and for backhand topspin strokes. Speed isn't hampered by the tackiness as the sponge produces a nice catapult effect as you release the ball. You can order it thru Ali Express.
Where do I get a Hurricane 3 Neo (blue sponge)? If Zhang Jike gets it, why can't I get it too? It's just unfair.. Here in germany I can only get the orange sponge versions. I play with Tibhar Genius on both sides. Before I played Genius, I played Tenergy 05. The price for a single Tenergy is know at 56,90€ (71,57 US$)! Sorry, but that's just absurd... Now I am looking for a rubber which is not that expensive, so I thought the H3 Neo (blue sponge) would be a good choice, but I can't get it -.-
Its possible a dhs hurricane 3 neo with 2.0 mm, when verify the hidden code of the silver logo on dhs site tell me are original. On dhs site tell 2.15 or 2.2 mm. This rbber are a fake?
Hey PathfinderPro, i recently bought a new hurricane 3 black 2.2 and it does not feel tacky. The first thing i did when i finished gluing the rubber was to press the ball and see if it sticked to the rubber but it did not stick. Is the red one tackier??
my new DHS Hurricane 3 Neo is NOT as tacky as that. They ball can't glue on it like it does at 6:04. In fact it slips off immediately... Btw i haven't used it to play yet, just did the tackiness check. Also how do u maintain tacky rubber like this? Songe and water + Protection sheet or will they have NEGATIVE effect? Please someone respond :)
I have the same issue, my rubbers(DHS H3NEO) aren't as Tacky as seen in the video. It also doesn't bounce thesame. I'm not sure if i have authentic rubbers because of the performance . I was kinda let down because this was my first bat ever.
Neo 3 Just trying one out I bought it a week ago Didnt wanna boost anymore so i just put it on with free chack What a useless rubber that is!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hard as a rock Took it off right after my session Im gonna have a go with it again today but its boosted this time Feels more alive Hope to bring up the tackiness of the rubber with the booster because it was a disaster with no booster on it
Asif Gunz The price doesn't make the rubber better... I bought my first Tenergy for 40€. They didn't change anything, only the price... There were times when Tenergys weren't the most expensive rubbers... Additionally there is a national version of the Hurricane 3 with a blue 41° sponge which is a lot faster and spinnier than any Tenergy when boosted correctly. The commercial version of the H3 or H3 Neo are a different world compared to the provincial or national versions you can buy in China. You can compare any rubber wih the Tenergy rubbers, because Tenergys are still the best rubbers on the market. When I'm searching for an alternative, why should I not compare them? I played Tenergy 05, then XIOM Vega Pro, then Tibhar Genius for two years and now I came back to the T05, because there is just no rubber that came even close to teh feeling I had with the Tenergy 05. I am still testing the newest rubbers that come out if there is something that might be even better for me, because the price just hurts so much. I played a boosted national H3 from a Chinese friend, but in the end this one is even more expensive than the Tenergy and it's boosted which is something I actually don't wanna do. What I want to say: Everybody who loves the feeling of the Tenergy is comparing it with the new rubber he's testing no matter how low the price is. I am waiting for the day when some other company brings out an even better rubber for a lower price.
i never said price makes a rubber better. I simply stated that they are from different price tiers, hence comparison can't be justified. And yes Im aware of prov and Nat versions. Eventually Enez will become smarter. Boosters such as falco long booster, as well as the so called *undetectable* tuners will start getting caught. BTY will earn even a bigger market share than they currently have. It's a shame about the price though. I've stuck with Xiom for the past 4 years. One of the three sheets have lasted me as long as 2 years+. Others go about 1.5+ years. Price of ESN rubbers have dropped. I hope BTY eventually lowers their price for the sake of the sport.
Tenergy and hurricane are completely different. Hurricane is a Chinese rubber while on the other hand tenergy is a Japanese rubber. How can you even out the two in the same league? They play differently.
You kinda forgot one aspect of the Hurricane rubbers especially when you did the tack test for a second time... no decent player that uses hurricane ever leaves the rubber covered in dust. it is continuously wiped..
Thanks a lot, again, thats very helpful! And LAST question, when a rubber is described as a soft rubber, is it referring to the sponge that is soft, or the rubber, or does it mean the thickness of sponge or rubber, or both, and visa versa for a hard rubber!? and what is the differnce between soft and hard rubbers, what is best for an offensive player who puts a lot of topspin on the ball??:)
this is what is missing on youtube. testing rubbers and blades with no personal discretion. A person reads the reviews for example Dignics 05 and the same rubber seems to be 30 different rubers hahahahahaha
Maybe it’s only in the Chinese market, but we are always able to specify the hardness degree when buying a rubber. Therefore making the comparison not so useful across the board
Hardness is increasingly advertised in the Euro market but rarely for euro rubbers in terms of actual degrees of hardness. Usually it's a vague as "soft" "medium" or "hard" like the Stiga Tour rubbers.
By far the most professional review or comparison of any piece of table tennis equipment I've ever seen. Thank you very much for the upload.
Up to today still by far the best rubber tests i have ever seen on youtube.
I couldnt agree more and this video basically covers all the aspects in detail of the hurricane 3 and neo.
even though this is over 10 years ago, is this still the same dhs hurricane rubber in todays time? or is this rubber an old version of hurricane 3 and 3 neo?
the best review you van actually find, thanks
A while ago, when I first watched this video, I felt it was complete trash (quality and information content).
But now that I rewatch it, it seems like he put a lot of thought, time, and information in it. I appreciate this now much more than I did before.
The TT world needs more reviews like this. Thumbs up. So where is part 2 and part 3?
This was absolutely amazing, im so glad it came up in my recommended videos. I also play drums and tennis and i wish tennis players and drummers could make reviews as professional as this.
Outstanding review! Absolutely thorough. Great job!!
PathfinderPro apparently the neo version has some glue to the back, which means that only gluing the blade was required
You do realize that Zhang Jike uses the national version, and that will cost a fair bit. I'm not sure how it's priced wherever you come from, but where I live, National Hurricanes cost the same as Tenergy 05s. Excellent review.
🐥
wow very useful review
excellent review
This is actually so formal, the most formal review I have seen. It goes really in depth. Thanks for the help but which rubber do you find better?
such a good video quality even though it is 10 years old
My neo 2.15 weighed 58g and after cutting 45g (The cutted waste rubber was 13g so 58-13=45). My blade joola k5 is 83g. 45+45+82=172g but at the end it showed 176g on the scale, 4g difference would be the glue i suppose. Rubbers get very dirty but the spin is amazing.
such an advanced video which is so old
Good work on the comparison
Damn this video already 11 years. I remember I watched it first time it's only few weeks.

a very good observation..
nice, though i was 2 years old when this was uploaded.
welldone ,very detailed comparison.
good video, thank you mate
Thank you of info 👍🏿

It can be found on the OOAK table tennis forum
nice review man
but i thought thet the H3 NEO had a blue sponge
That was provinicial.. Hurricane 3 neo national blue sponge.. More speedy
very good video
is the property of the colour that results in it being spinnier or faster or is it a property usually associated with the colours?
Thank you very much, and is a hard sponge e.g 1.5 mm and a soft sponge e.g. 2.1 mm or how does it work if you only have an option of thickness for the sponge?:)

FINALLY wich rubber is better h3 or Neo and why the ball just remains so strange on the rubber and aint bounce???
Because both rubbers are sticky (tacky).
Thanks again, great vid!;)
how to remove dust from the rubber without damaging the rubber
dhs number 24- 002
beautiful ????
can anybody suggest to me which chinese rubber are good for backhand with very nice control and good speed? tq
I like the DHS Battle II. Nice tacky rubber, good dwell time and helpful in service return and for backhand topspin strokes. Speed isn't hampered by the tackiness as the sponge produces a nice catapult effect as you release the ball. You can order it thru Ali Express.
You propably mean 729 Friendship battle ii and not DHS...

@rizzelet totally agree

a onde eu encontro borracha cinhesa aqui no brasil

Huricane 3 is doible happines?
isnt the sponge supposed to be blue??
The blue sponge is only on the Hurricane 3 Neo Provincial or National Sponge, not the normal Hurricane 3 Neo.

+Leshrac Banehallow I have the same case...
Just use sponge and water to keep it clean and dust-free. In my experience the NEO series is not extremely tacky.
My guess is that the NEO series is less tacky to compensate for the softer sponge. Keeping the same level of tackiness would make it too slow.
I have the same issue, my rubbers(DHS H3NEO) aren't as Tacky as seen in the video. It also doesn't bounce thesame. I'm not sure if i have authentic rubbers because of the performance . I was kinda let down because this was my first bat ever.

lol its stupid to compare the two. the price difference is above 200%

these two rubbers are nomal version ,could u do some blue sponge ones?
this is what is missing on youtube. testing rubbers and blades with no personal discretion. A person reads the reviews for example Dignics 05 and the same rubber seems to be 30 different rubers hahahahahaha
hallo, who can tell me which chinese rubber has more up trajectory?
sorry, I haven't tested enough yet to know the answer
which all rubbers had to do the same test by independent tester
Doesn’t make sense. Aren’t there hardness degree choices when you buy the rubbers though? You can buy 38 degree hurricane up to 45 for example.
Also was the pitchfork test repeated enough times to draw the conclusion?
Maybe it’s only in the Chinese market, but we are always able to specify the hardness degree when buying a rubber. Therefore making the comparison not so useful across the board
