Have you read A monster calls by Patrick Ness? I had to read it for my english class and I didn't expect to like it as much as i did. Another book i was really suprised by was We are the ants, because i didnt know anything about is before i started reading it except that some booktubers i watch really like it. So happy to see some Diviners love! The series just gets better and better. Before the Devil Breaks You (the third book) was my favourite book in a year of fab books - not just because it was super fun, with great characters and an intriguing plot, but because it was so relevant to 2018, despite being an historical paranormal fantasy novel. Couldn't recommend the series more!

The DIVINERS was so good! Loved the characters and the anti christ ghost murders! This was the first book of this kind of genre for me, as in 20s, fantasy elements and crime. The vibe reminded me a lot of Fantastic Beasts. Did you already read the next ones?
I think the second one Lair of Dreams is my favourite because I don‘t usually like dreams as the main setting but it was so well done here with the sleeping sickness and everything. Even though I was sad that Evie was kind of a side character here or maybe not a side character, just not important for the main plot, and struggling to grow as a character. But she is still likeable. I‘d say that Henry and a new character called Ling are mostly driving the plot forward.
The second one is also scarier btw. 😂 But it wasn‘t too scary.
The third one „Before the devil breaks you“ was my least favourite. It kind of only set the stage for the fourth book which I want to read as well, but I was a little disappointed with the plot and a lot of character arcs and the romance too I guess. :/ A lot of other booktubers liked the third one the most though which I don‘t really understand... 🤷‍♀️

I read One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez this year and it blew me away. Went into it with pretty low expectations but instead got an addicting and thought provoking story in the end. It was a lot of fun and this book made me realize that deeply flawed and ultimately doomed characters are the ones I enjoying reading the most. The ending is one of the best ones I read.

I loved the The Power and how it didnt end as utopia as well, teaching the old cliche of "absolute power corrupts absolutely" or however they say. I also really enjoyed Scythe and Thunderhead. I read rather than audio'd the second Diviners book - i think you'll like it - i enjoyed it because it had a dreamscape scenario that was so much fun plus more character development as well. I have the third book and will probably get to it in the next few months. If you want a really good rec for a classic, i recommend East of Eden by John Steinbeck. Have you read it? Im lost in it now and i never wanna come out! Im just so engrossed and loving the characters and the themes, its pretty spectacular set in Calif at turn of century (1900). Anyhow, have a great Thursday night!

I absolutely, 100% support your opinion about Jenny Han's book. I was so surprised with "To all the boys I've loved before" (movie) that I decided to dive into the books, and to my surprise the 1st book was even better than the movie (minus the outfits and Noah Centineo... which you can't replace :3 ) but oh girl, if you thought the 2nd book was unnecesary then please... please! save yourself some time and don't get close to the 3rd one... it's painful to read. I'ts filled with nonexistent drama, forced relationships and frustrating situations. It just lost the initial spark. I agree, if the first book had been a standalone, it would've been one of the best books of 2018 for me.

a storied life of A.J. Fikry (I just hauled that book) hope to read it in 2019. I agree with you on the all the boys I"ve loved before books. I loved the first one thought it was really cute. But that 2nd book just added mature content which I didn't like at all. I haven't read the 3rd book.

Nooo it's the first time I don't agree with one of your opinions, I didn't like To All the Boys I've Loved Before hahaha. Still looking foward to reading Emma and The Power, it really sounds super interesting *-*

I feel like if it had been a standalone it could have been a cute little YA contemporary. No my favorite genre so not my favorite book but it was a quick summer read. It sucks it was a trilogy though lol

Read Travels by Michael Crichton. It’s his memoir but it’s so interesting

What a nice surprise 'A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet' was. I haven't read sci-fi in a while and it was really enjoyable. I've heard it's a series but the second book isn't as good. What is the second book and has anyone read it?

Thank you! Thank you! for saying that Thunder Head is a cliffhanger. I wish all reviewers would just give a heads up if something is a cliffhanger or not. I am one of those people who can't wait and if a book is a cliffhanger I just buy them as they come out and wait till they are all out to read them. As always I really enjoy your reviews.

book 3 of tatbilb is miles better than book 2 in my opinion, but i definitely agree with you that the book works really well as a standalone so i honestly wouldn't say it's worth reading if you hated book 2 that much :)

Ok I know some more books about aliens. They’re called The Cocoon Triliogy by David Saperstein. The first one is called Cocoon, the second one Metamorphosis and the third one Butterfly Tomorrow’s Children. They have nice covers but are now only available in paperback. I haven’t read them or purchased them yet either. But maybe you would like them.🤶🎅🌸🍁💃🏽❤️💗💖

I was surprised I liked Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier ; for some reason, although I'd always heard greats things about this book, I had a feeling it wouldn't be for me but I thought I would try reading it anyway and I absolutely adored it so great news! :p
