A-Rod was the best shortstop and was in the top 2 or 3 third basemen in baseball. I can only think of Eric Chavez and Adrian Beltre, may have been slightly better defensively, but neither had to transition from shortstop. And he definitely was a better hitter than both of them.
His throwing arm is so strong and accurate-- and it seems that his sidearm style helps with keeping the ball out of the dirt for he 1st baseman- like a sidearm rising fastball

Average guy, 250 4 -7 hrs 20 rbi 35 36 37 released.

Yes it gives him more strength and power but it doesn't help with making contact or mechanics. In my opinion he's one of the best to ever play the game and has over 3000 hits.
