I am about to cry. Thank you for visiting this place as requested. It brought back my childhood memories, this was back in the 80s. i lived here from when i was born til 17 years old. Most of my younger years i had my meals at this hawker centre especially this wantan noodle. I know its this stall for sure because i recognised right away the way they plated those soup bowls, the way the green chili was in that jar with that tiny plastic spoon. There used to be a bakchormee soup stall with blue colored bowls. I was around 7years old and my father would order that for me on sundays but everytime after eating my chest would be in pain and i find myself hard to breathe like i was about to die. It was only many years later i realised that was heartburn. Too much msg. But the following sunday my father would order it again for me so i get to experience near death lol That prawn noodle soup u had was there from as far as i can remember, they used to use those very flat green plates for dry prawn mee, prawns were sliced into very thin slithers and served with ketchup. My favourite. This stall was mainly the reason i requested you for a visit there as i was wondering if its still there. Thank you again. The wet market i remember back in the days when chickens were kept in cages and then slaughtered on the spot after they were chosen, throat slit, blood drained, then thrown into a spinner where feathers were mostly removed, then taken for a wash and further feather plucking by hand. Also the indian lady sitting behind heaps of spices with a small rectangular scoop she would scoop small portions from different heaps after u tell her what u gonna be cooking. Garden confectionary used to have this old fashioned exterior with real red bricks and 2 canopies at each see through window into the interior. My favorite item was the one that twirls around a hotdog but tasted like the twirls are fried, i dont know if u know that bread. I havent gone back in decades, i want to but im afraid to. If i am on my deathbed, i will come back to this video and watch it again. Sorry for this long comment
I love such epic memories!! I used to watch chickens being slaughtered in ho4rific blue tubs.. 😅 lucky I managed to squeeze this video out.. me sitting somewhere under a cherry blossom tree in Tokyo right now 😝 back in 2 weeks.
@@Piggypuggy hey dear is there any job opening in urs shop. I want to work plz help me out. I am from India. Any job willing to do in urs shop help you
Everytime u upload, i cry alittle inside, having moved overseas 5 years ago, this content is pure torture and bliss. - typing this while having a breakfast bowl of oats instead of wanton mee.
great to see piggy puggy back in action in 2024 promoting Singapore hawker food/culture. I like this hawker centre and market layout - big and airy, and with many traditional food still selling very well. Keep it up!
These days is sooooo hard to find an authentic tasting one.. coz the ingredients and butter 🧈 used is no longer the same. Or too expensive. I’ve also just noticed that they reduced the cream to a very thin layer. It used to be soooo sinfully RICH.. bliss bliss
Coincidentally, I had Jin Jin prawn noodle last week before I watched this video. It was damn good old school no frill prawn noodle. Very reasonably priced for the serving and quality ! Will be back again soon.
Brother thanks for taking these video and sharing. u tell the prawn auntie next time u capturing our hawker heritage, it’s important to record, share and spread. Thanks to their contributions. Singapore Hawker is awesome!
Love watching your videos. Another request! I am going to visit my mum who lives in Tampines in April from the UK and wondered if you could take a look at the Hawker centres there and show some of their yummy food for us to try in April. Thank you!
Is the carrot cake stall still around? That was one of the best carrot cakes i habe ever tasted. It has been a few years since i visit this market and i always ordered their black & white. Tastes just heavenly 😊
Alamak makan chicken meat with ginger only! Where the dark soya sauce and chilli? Piggypuggy, what about the soon kuey n png kuay review? I keen to go n eat that... My grandma home made the best! Always my benchmark. My mom do not want to make as it is very tiring.
Wah, you stumble on the number one wanton mee in SG and you never try it. What a pity. My number one goto for wanton mee, will be there every alternate Thursday.
This hawker center is one of the over rated hawker centers i can say. Even the nearer hawker centers (Sims Vista and Circuit Road Hawker Center) performs better. However There are few stalls that are good in terms if food, price, quality and consistency (Top 3: Hoe Kee Wanton Noodle, Ng Soon Kee Porridge and Duck Meat and lastly is the indian muslim stall that sells Nasi Briyani and Prata (nearer to the toliet). There are the stalls that are over rated (Top 3: Shanghai Lor Mee, 29 Chicken Rice, Quan Kee Wanton Noodle)

Buttercream cakes remind me of a bakery in Changi village when I was a kid. The smells were amazing when you walked by
