- Beatrice Berrut plays Alexander Siloti's transcription for piano of Bach Aria from the 3rd Orchestral Suite BWV 1068. This wonderful slow and singing movement was written, along with the three other orchestral suites, during the last period of his life in Leipzig, around 1731.The Air (the second movement) was transcribed for strings by August Wilhelmj, which made it a party piece playable on only one string of a violin - hence its nickname 'Air on the G string'. It's led scholars to believe the whole suite might have been composed for strings only, which would make it Bach's only known work written solely for four-part strings.

I learn this peace too yet, I also find it difficult to play it with the right passion, so that it sounds how it should sound 😊. Sorry for my englisch - I am german. But this interpretation is very good, with the right dynamic and emotion.
This is not a simple piece to play. You need to have a wide finger span to play this.

A lovely performance of a lovely piece, so nice to find it this evening to help me relax. I am used to hearing this piece on strings, but you make it sound so nice on the piano too. Of course, after hearing your phenomenal Mahler transcriptions, now I want to hear your own transcription of this too :).

This played tempo is uplifting and the entire piece is far easier experienced. There is hope and beauty in this tempo. When played much slower this piece takes on a death march quality that reveals overwhelming contemplation coupled with a universe time machine past present catch up game. Strange.

This is the best performance of the many piano transcriptions that I could find on RUclips. There are a lot which distort the timing and as a result, destroy the relentlessness of Bach's music.
The error in the Notes should be corrected because we only have four Bach Orchestral Suites altogether, including this number 3. I will be delighted to hear that a 5th and 6th Suite have been discovered in an attic somewhere, but until then, the Notes should read:
" . . . along with the three other orchestral suites, . . ."

I do enjoy a piano piece that is played so well. A classmate of mine was (in the memory of a 7 or 8 year old) pretty damn good on our school piano, regularly playing short pieces at assembly.
I still wonder if he ever made a success in the music industry. Anyway, this piece of music is excellent.

This is probably the most beautiful piano performance I've heard.
Funnily enough - I first heard this song in about 2018 on a horror game called The Evil Within, (pathetic, I know!) But that made me look up on Google what song it was and I found this.
I also play piano and really want to learn this song as it's become my favourite now.
I compare your version with Rousseau's on youtube and I can't tell which one to go for. They both sound just as good but I like yours better as it's a bit shorter, 3 minutes.
For me, learning a song over 3 minutes really takes up a lot of time.
I found sheets on Muescore, did you use those ones? Or did you get them elsewhere?

Today, I actually found sheets for it on muescore, someone copied Rousseau's video and i really like his style so I'm going for that one!
But stiil, yours is just as amazing, honestly.
spent 1 hour and I only made it to 0:36 into the song.
it's actually a lot harder than I thought! I don't know why it takes me SO long to learn a song. i am a bit afraid that this is too hard but I will keep going, I am finding it a bit difficult though.
If I may; the dynamic range of the performance is rather narrow, it's being played very softly which might be to some peoples liking but then playing this soft leaves little room for a wider dynamic range. Also, I know this is Bach and we're not still talking about Romanic rhythmic freedom. However, this specific piece would probably sound more dramatic and beautiful with a little more rhythmic freedom. I enjoy your performance thought, thank you.
