Why I hate Abyssmare and Why Call of Artemis did it better

- SOOO I finally reveal the lore about my least favorite unit. I honestly didn't know myself why I disliked them so much until I sat down and thought about it.

In conclusion, yes I am just salty that they won for no reason.
Fr, Abyssmare just popped out of nowhere and we’re just to accept that they’re more powerful than the 6 units we’ve watch develop so much over the past 2 years???

I kinda wished they kept them as villains… it made the story more interesting (and I liked their music more when they were villains).

It was bull that there was no clear winner for the Abyssmare challenge, but I happy that Michiru finally was acknowledged and got her own unit that has a good theme. But Abyssmare slaps so hard so it sucks but they had their own story that wasn’t as bad as

I feel like the side nova stories exhibited a host of issues in terms of writing, another big problem is dj powerscaling(yea I’m serious). Okay so the first story established that while Happy Around was very skilled, Peaky was simply better and more experienced and Photon were the big dogs. But Side Nova: Photon Maiden just tells us that Peaky is actually like better than PM? Which doesn’t make sense, Peaky is good don’t get it twisted but PM literally has Shano as a mentor and a whole company backing them. That and Abyssmare pulling right the fuck out of nowhere and just being the “best” it’s fine if they’re skilled but hidden but they’re supposed to famous and stuff so it’s just confusing.
I don’t like Abyssmare cuz:
1. Way too Neo centered feel like a Neo harem instead of a proper unit
2. neo received zero consequences for her dickhead moves
3.Cannot relate to members being so attracted to Neo like what is good about her apart from she is a genius and really pretty.
I enjoy abyssmare members story when there isn’t Neo cuz they finally feel like human instead of ai(not Lumina) that praises Neo everyday for 24hours
Yeah, feels like all of abyssmare hinges on whether or not you like neo.
That makes Neo as my least favourite Abyssmare character now. I just can't stand her ego anymore.

My main problem with Abyssmare is that they just... came out of nowhere.
Despite the 2nd anniversary highly focused on UniMare, it seems that Abyssmare's development was rushed, thus not giving me the time to care about the characters.
Also now that I think thanks to your points, even though CoA gets little to no content, they still had an impact on other units (Shano for Photon, Airi for HapiAra)
I don't know if I want to keep up with the stories, if anything I'm more here for the music (Even though Abyssmare is my least favorite unit by default, I must admit there are some of their songs I like)
Another thing I want to mention, it's that speaking of their music, I was highly disappointed by their debut song. I was expecting something aggressive (like Rondo but much more heavy metal), but instead got some mediocre K-Pop sounding song. I mean it's not a problem, it just doesn't match their concept.
When I heard their cover of Red Fraction, I wish that was how their debut song was like. (I know it's not heavy metal but it got that aggressive feeling)
That said, Winner, I Am The Best and Take Me On are the only Abyssmare originals I like.

If you remove the story and look at Abyssmare in a vacuum, I'm ok with them as a unit. They exist, they make music. That's cool. But they lost *all* credibility with me when they revealed that they're even more f--king kids that get enrolled in Yoba at the end. Like even if they are that young when they become #1 in the USA, their compulsory education would look different than people that make music *through* their academy.

After Abyssmare: Highschool Japan
It's would be better if Abyssmare is in college rather than high school students or younger

Honestly so glad about this video. Really gives you a new perspective and appreciation for CoA, but it also makes me sad that they’re shafted so badly!
You make some insanely good points. Those points, and the fact that everyone but sophia is a complete piece of human garbage is the reason i also DESPISE abyssmare. D4fes. is supposed to be fun and supportive of everyone, but abyssmare is so egotistical that its almost comedic. I don't care how "good" they are. I just wanna see everyone have fun and develop in their own ways.

The thing that bothers me is that Artemis was so hyped up, they win D4Fes and then just disappear. Then Abbyssmare comes along. Was Artemis written out so Abyssmare can "Dominate"? Which sounds stupid af. Even Unichord was kinda built up with Michiru.
My first Impression of Abyssmare was like really bad, but they became meh after side nova. (Also I am relatively new and havent read event stories. So maybe there is something I should know but dont)

A similar thing happened in wrestling such as Roman Reigns winning the Universal Championship as soon as he returns and keeping it for 1316 days. I think it's they way they're written (or in wrestling terms, booked) why you don't like them. Abyssmare weaseled their way to the top, but the mysteries on why or how have not been unfolded.
I personally love Abyssmare, because they have a lot of bangers (especially WINNER), the seiyuus are beautiful, Elsie's Seiyuu is Filipino, and I actually came back to the D4DJ fandom. The last one is probably the biggest factor.
Let it simmer a little bit, because I'm waiting for D4DJ Nova Mix (Yes, I made that name up) so I can learn more about them and Unichord.

Abyssmare fills their role just fine in my opinion. I love CoA to death, but they're barely active and you can't make them antagonist or even a goal to surpass if you can't really get songs or live performances out of them. Unichord needed someone to act as their foil and you can't really do that with the original units, because doing so would disrupt their balance of being relatively equal with each other. They wanted to create stakes, but didn't want any of the old units to get consumed. In an ideal story everyone is given time to develop, but sometimes you just need to toss characters in to make waves.
Personally I think they didn't go far enough with them, too half hearted. They should have been beating groups(not even the main ones) left and right and we could have set up a new group in the future where they're composed of people whose groups disbanded after losing to Abyssmare.
