It’s been funny for me how many times I’ve been like “oh yeah that hellblade 2 game I wonder if it was any good” only to find out it still wasn’t released and that first trailer was the only one still released.
As a former combat medic in Iraq, I bet you a million $$$ that no veterans are going to be playing Hellblade. I played it and had immediate flashbacks when she started going through psychosis. It hit way too close to home.
The game has NOT been in development for 7 years 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ Ninja Theory worked on a previous multiplayer game before starting work on Hellblade 2 in 2019 - 2020. Once again Luke not getting correct information, HELBLADE 2 has been in development for 4 years
Yeah, he keeps assuming that this is their only project they’ve been working on since the release of the first one and it’s just blatantly untrue. I know he means well but it’s just infuriating hearing this take over and over again
Its basically like saying that TES 6 has been in development by Bethesda for 6 years already since they revealed it in 2018. Meanwhile its just starting full development now bc nearly 100% of the teams efforts have been spent (aka wasted) on Starfield and even now a good portion on their development capacity is probably still working on DLC for Starfield (aka the painfully mid game). I personally am super hyped for Hellblade 2 as the 1st game for me was the greatest narritve masterpiece ive ever experienced (only TLOU 1 even really comes close for me personally)
Exactly 😭 and 100M budget? this game has about 40-50 actual Ninja theory devs and they've tooken their time with it, also it's releasing digital only, the budget probably was high but probably not 100M high, but the tech they use got people thinking
and he says the combat is the same as the first one.........they didn't really even really show the combat to know that....just wait until microsoft sends him his gift basket he'll start shilling.
The fact that Hellblade II is a similar length to the first game sold me on it. I don't have time to play a ton of long games and I like to experience as many games as I can.
I don’t know why people set grand expectations for this beyond what the first game delivered. It sounds like you overhyped yourself when it was announced. It’s not the type to become some open world action game or long story sequence, it’s a sequel to a short indie ‘experience’ type lite-puzzle game with minimal combat. An affordable immersive narrative game for a few hours like the first, not “the big Xbox game for the summer” as you put it, and tbh that’s all I expect and it’d be satisfying enough
It's Phil Spencer and Xbox who are setting it up for failure by hyping it up as one of their big titles like it's their God of War when it's merely a 7 hour narrative driven game with an AAA budget.
Haven't the development team and Xbox mentioned several times that thanks to the Xbox takeover you now have a lot more budget, freedom and options? (Ninja Theory is no longer an indie studio!). Hellblade 2 was also the very first game that was announced together with the Series X (2019 Video Game Awards... yes 2019), which of course also created enormous expectations.
@@jimmyv3170But it is one of "their" biggest titles as is every first party game on any platform. But it's not being overhyped by MS/XB. You & this guy in the video are. They are just showing pictures or showing trailers like any other game. Your corny just like this guy.
Big facts. Hellblade had nothing but great ratings like 9/10 & 4.6/5 & things like that so idk where all these haters come from.. must be Ponies hating because the sequel is only on Xbox console 😂😂😂
@@504Trey the hate comes from Hellblade's bad gameplay and repetitive mechanics but it is quite immersive and has good audiovisual quality, it's not made for everyone
I'm ok with it being similar in length to the first. I have more than enough unfinished long games in my backlog. My worry is it being more cutscenes, less gameplay, and the end of the first game was so phenomenal, I am struggling to see how they could possibly top that.
I loved the first but I never thought to myself “let’s go for round 2” the game made its point and did so brilliantly. I don’t want the same thing again. Especially not 8 years later. When Xbox kept placing it front and centre in their marketing I figured they must’ve increased the scope of the game. I was honestly looking forward to a proper Ninja Theory combat game. Except no we’re pretty much back to this cinematic style that I already know everything about. The first game was nearly perfect and I just don’t see what more we can know about what it’s like to be schizophrenic
Well, we can speculate the plot of this sequel to be something totally different from the first game. Senua has already dealt with her lover's death and is now mentally stronger. I think this time, we'll have an entirely new story arc. It'll still touch mental issues, but hopefully, very differently from it's predecessor.
Im as interested in this one as i was the first, that is to say not at all. It's a totally different package to what i want from video games. I hope when it drops and people love it though, im not gonna complain that others enjoy something i dont
The combat in the first was looking perfect and was feeling perfect but lacked depth.. it might look the same with more deapth i hope the camera is still close and the impact of hits are still as impactfull.
Disappointed that it's basically the same game, just a different story. Makes sense why they haven't done any gameplay deep dive in any of the Xbox streams. 7 years on a 6-7 hour game, with basic combat and practically no level design, is insane and inefficient AF. Seems like a waste of an acquisition. It's also another reason why graphics need to stop being so emphasized. The fidelity is probably why it's taken so long to make. Look at Remedy, making like 3 AAA games and multiple DLC projects at the same time. All the games look great, have great physics, have good combat and have compelling narratives & characters.
If you go into this game expecting strong combat you just haven’t been paying attention lol. ALL of the marketing material has told us where they put the value in this game, and it isn’t combat. Narrative & immersion was their focus.
Actually yes but.... In recent showcase NT said that they have invested a lot in combat and updated the combat system. Before this, they (specifically Juan Fernandez, who is the main combat designer) said that the combat system would be updated compared to the first part.
The first game's budget was $10 million. I highly doubt the second game was given a 10x budget increase. Also, plenty of movies take 3-5 years to make and are only 2 hours. Why complain about a game that comes out about 6 years after the first and is going to be about 6-10 hours in a standard playthrough? For someone who proclaims to be a voice of "reason" as a "skeptical gamer", you're not very good at the schtick.

There has been quite a bit released about this game. Theres a 30-45 minute video about the new technologies, beginning of the game etc gameplay...was a pretty awesome video. They showed how they did all the new wardrobes, capture etc...I think you are missing out on alot of the released media about it
My friend had hellblade I played it with him a few times It wasn't my type of game. The game was limited to where you can go I cant say its 100% on rails and a hallway sim, but with horror elements I would have like to explore the world but if the devs did that the graphics would have goon down, narrow the view of where the player can go, you can make a better looking game. Like most the combat was very repetitive and If I remember the chapters had you running to the next fight most of the time. The psychological parts of the game are cool but once you slice the game and analyze the game its very barebones take out the voice's in your head, cutscene (she screams or yells at you) and puzzles(only 4 types) its just run to next fight. I think players had their fill with hellblade do they want the same experience or something new that doesn't mirror the first game.
To be fair, the only thing that sets this game apart is the audio design. You need to put on headphones or have a 7.1 surround system to truly "get" it. In terms of actual gameplay, it's barely mid, especially compared to Ninja Theory's other work. So watching clips from it on RUclips, particularly over one's phone, would make it look pretty weak compared to the experience of playing it. That all said, it's also probably just not going to be very good. The first game, IMO, is more "interesting" than fun or even compelling, and I couldn't be bothered to finish it once it got bogged down in "line up scenery to find the obscure pattern" puzzles.
The crazy thing is, Xbox fanboys hyping hell blade 2 as a "God of War Killer!" But I thought that xbox fanboys hate 1 and done movie games??! The Hypociry is over 9000!!! Also about the trailer, I think they dont have anything to show in the trailer is because, dude its only a 7 hours game. If they show anything awesome, then it will spoiled the game.
10:19 it seems their main thing is graphics which they smashed and it looks like this has the potential to be visually a masterpiece. My theory is they're showing little to avoid spoiling what is going to be a relatively short game with supposedly every encounter being "unique". The first one and what ive seen so far is enough for me to try this. Reviews will dictate whether its full price or on sale.
''It feels like not many people are interested or hyped for it'' ... Speak for yourself Luke. Everyone who played the first game and finished it is looking forward to the sequel. Senua's sacrifice was an absolute masterpiece.
I expect exactly the same as the first game even after seeing the new stuff. Its just an okay puzzle story game with good Performance capture. i did not like the gameplay and probably still wont. I enjoyed the Story and Performance capture.. that's it. Should just have been a movie in my opinion.

Not many talk about it because the first game used to be a multiplatform game and Sony also helped promote the game a lot. As an Xbox exclusive I think the game is going to flop and without a physical media release, most people in the Asian region won't buy this game. We still love our physical games here especially for single player stuff like this and our game stores are pretty much alive (I do own the first game on physical) Microsoft is sadly only targeting the western market.
The first games credits showed 79 names. Including actresses, art team, writing, mental heath professionals, etc. The developer numbers shown was 24 So im doing clown math but they said the team has doubled im gonna guess the 24 is now 48 fir developers alone
My guess is that since it's a short a game, they can't show much without giving out the plot. The game should be a tech display and being short, should also be a bit with game pass.
me looking at this crazy spectacle in hellblade 2 anticipating what it could be like when i get to play it on gamepass for 15 bucks, luke stephens "whats that time been spent on"......okay and this is why game journalism is DEAD
I think it's really hard to show something from a game that is 7 hours long and fully Story driven. Spoilers and the sense of seeing something for the first time is so important for a game like this. I got the gamepass, so i will just wait for reviews and then play it. Hehe
I loved the first Hellblade game and the Sequel is for Xbox exclusively :( Idk if my PC could handle it either. I guess I could try. I just prefer PlayStation games.
The hook is the mental health, binurial ( i also am unsure how this is said/spelt) sound design stuff bro :D that and it being very narritive driven. I just hope the combat got a tiny bit better as that was deff a let down of the last one hahaha
I kinda was making fun of the game length cause of how long the game is taking. “7 year, 5 hours” but I don’t have the most positive outlook on ninja theory
There's very little to be exited about it's just a short walking sim with more focus on pushing a message. A message that is completely stupid I might add as I've had many years experience with schizophrenia and it's nothing like hell blade.
I hope they remove the puzzle elements because they were so boring which stopped me from playing it. The combat was good, hope they improve that to be more enjoyable however.
Wait wait wait.. in hellblade work 40/45 pelople.. for 6 years and 1 delated for covid because the team cant go in iceland.. but ( tameen says) " the size of team is near double the 1st( the 1st was 23, so in the second the developer are max 40/45, not 100)

I don't have any interest in this game it might change if it turns out to be better than the first one. There is great games coming out this year it need to be really good to stand out.
Another walking simulator, I didn't like the first one, it had nice graphics but other than that I didn't like the story, main protagonist or the gameplay/swordplay.
Naw man....already HB2 is too cinematic heavy....that’s a no go for me. I don’t think this game is going to be fun at all. But hey it’s on game pass so that’s a steal!...but I’ll pass on this one.
Hundred million dollars? Dont hate me , i like your channel but in this case for me you talk by your opinion,.not for a true source.. hellblade developers are 40/45 and i don't think the budget is hundredS millions..
Xbox really need to think and create a game that will let people excited to get their console , what they need open world game not Besisda half of people don't like their games/formula they need games like Elder Ring , or story based like God of war , people will not buy consoles for fps ,sport , RTS , first person games
I bought the first one on Steam in a sale for like $2 so I thought that was a steal for what it is and the length of the first game. Needless to say I won’t be spending no $50 on the sequel. I’ll probably just end up playing it on Gamepass honestly?

Not many talk about it because the first game used to be a multiplatform game and Sony also helped promote the game a lot. As an Xbox exclusive I think the game is going to flop and without a physical media release, most people in the Asian region won't buy this game. We still love our physical games here especially for single player stuff like this and our game stores are pretty much alive (I do own the first game on physical) Microsoft is sadly only targeting the western market.
4:52 That's what I've been saying to my girlfriend, but for different reasons
Loved the combat in the first game, gutted this isnt on PS5.
No physical, no purchase.
Fax
The first games credits showed 79 names. Including actresses, art team, writing, mental heath professionals, etc.
The developer numbers shown was 24
So im doing clown math but they said the team has doubled im gonna guess the 24 is now 48 fir developers alone
No doubt that it will be awesome, but will leave you wanting more for sure its a short game
ResidentSleeper
Even if I had voices in my head IRL telling me to play this game, I'd still not be convinced.
I think it's really hard to show something from a game that is 7 hours long and fully Story driven. Spoilers and the sense of seeing something for the first time is so important for a game like this.
I got the gamepass, so i will just wait for reviews and then play it. Hehe
It's like people don't want to be surprised about anything. They know the game is short yet they want to see 2 hours worth of stuff.
@waketp420 so that means this developer has to do the samething by law? Don't be ignorant
@waketp420 who tf cares that another company did it with their game.
It's great game to play it on RUclips
I thought it would be bigger than the first one. Especially after all this time. The price is right I guess. I still really liked the first game.
LukeSpekticphens
fantastico ... mr scepticalos... muchos gracias
You conveniently did not include the latest trailer that shows combat and differences from the first.
He's desperate to make videos about pointless shit.
The game is probably delayed, they took the release date off of the xbox store.
I imagine this game is definitely worth a month of PC game pass
There's very little to be exited about it's just a short walking sim with more focus on pushing a message.
A message that is completely stupid I might add as I've had many years experience with schizophrenia and it's nothing like hell blade.
I hope they remove the puzzle elements because they were so boring which stopped me from playing it. The combat was good, hope they improve that to be more enjoyable however.
Hellblade 2 just seems pretentious as hell to me, looks like beowulf with quick time events
Wait wait wait.. in hellblade work 40/45 pelople.. for 6 years and 1 delated for covid because the team cant go in iceland.. but ( tameen says) " the size of team is near double the 1st( the 1st was 23, so in the second the developer are max 40/45, not 100)
My question is... Who said they were working on it for 7yrs in the first place? He's talking like he knows for sure they started after the first one released.
@@mikebrown9051after the 1st, tameen antoniades needs a breack for many months.. and travel more.. the phandemic delayed all rhe works by 1 year beacause ninja theory cant go in iceland to register and scan everything.. the new studios in Cambridge takes time, and from 2019 to 2021 melina are training in combat for the new role of senua
never understood the fascination for the first. If it's more of the same, meh, not that interested.
I’m sure they don’t show that much because they are one trailer away to show everything a 7hours game has to offer x)
So deceiving
the thumbnail throws me off haha
Pretty sure its AA like the first game was
2 months away nah this is getting a delay for sure there is no gameplay footage lmao we have seen more of black myth wukong than we have seen of this game.
Funny, the first Hellblade was a PlayStation exclusive movie game 3rd person walking simulator 😅
It wasn't a PlayStation exclusive.
@Tedi652 it was timed exclusive for around a year on playstation and pc
@@oscaroska7613 I know, my point is before it was a carbon copy 3rd person movie walking simulator according to Xbox fans. What do they say now??
@@Tedi652 Yes, it was a PlayStation console exclusive. Timed exclusive, but still exclusive, look it up
@B-U-T-C-H-E-R Well, people need to stop comparing xbox and playstation playstation way better, and that is fine when xbox subscription was better before the new subscription system in playststion , having games on all console is the way to go for us gamers and they can provide other option to let us choose which console we will go with in next gen as ps6 , xbox whatever they name
Delicious onions
Still haven't seen any real gameplay which tells me this is going to be bad
Movie Game 2
The better the graphics, the worse the gameplay
I just finished Hellblade 1 for the first time and really didn't like it unfortunately. Great timing for watching this video tho!
I didn't liked the first game it had great graphics and an interesting story but the gameplay was very boring nothing going much for it to be honest.
8:01 100million is literally pennies to a trillion dollar corporation 🙄
It likely didn't even cost $100 million to make because the first one only cost $10 million. Highly doubt Microsoft gave a 10x budget increase.
But we've been down this road before, haven't we? Redfall, anybody Starfield, anybody
Thinking about this game puts me to sleep. If I wanted a movie I’d go to the theater.
Naw man....already HB2 is too cinematic heavy....that’s a no go for me. I don’t think this game is going to be fun at all. But hey it’s on game pass so that’s a steal!...but I’ll pass on this one.
This guy is a perma skeptic
I was a huge fan of the first game before it even got mainstream hype, and I agree with Luke.
I'm not convinced about this sequel.
Luke with another L take... pretty common for this guy
The game seems alright so far but that's about it
Hundred million dollars? Dont hate me , i like your channel but in this case for me you talk by your opinion,.not for a true source.. hellblade developers are 40/45 and i don't think the budget is hundredS millions..
They said it was going to be just like the first one and thats not exciting at all 6 hours of walking and dumb puzzles lost lost interest in this game
Nobody cares dude. Play what you want. Don't want to play HB2, don't play it.
They can’t show much cuz the game is shorter than the first one lol.
Xbox really need to think and create a game that will let people excited to get their console , what they need open world game not Besisda half of people don't like their games/formula they need games like Elder Ring , or story based like God of war , people will not buy consoles for fps ,sport , RTS , first person games
Trash game trash concept virtue signaling bullshit
Cry more 😂
Such misinformational bullshit from this guy. Lies.
I bought the first one on Steam in a sale for like $2 so I thought that was a steal for what it is and the length of the first game. Needless to say I won’t be spending no $50 on the sequel. I’ll probably just end up playing it on Gamepass honestly?
