There's nerf youtubers and then there's bradley, all this data just keeps geting better every weekend, thanks for the research man your content is great
These may be stiff enough to aid in feeding and jam prevention in AEG type blasters. A bit more weight like 1.25grams might be better though. Back in the 90's a lot of the the nerf darts used to have a whistle feature same as these but the heads were bigger than the foam so no barrels were used just direct fired from clips.
okay, the dragon tooth darts are cool and all but I can only imagine the fear on an opponent when 20 of the whistlers fly over their head and my euphoria thereafter. SOLD
Its the same difference between using standard ball ammunition vs. match ammunition in real steel firearms. For the overwhelming majority of shooters, the accuracy and consistency benefits of match ammunition arent enough of an advantage to justify the extra cost vs standard ball ammo. Optimizing for the final 5-10% of accuracy, velocity, and consistency costs 2-4x more in money and effort than getting 90% of the way there does. If you have deep pockets and crave that level of performance, yeah, these sound great.
These firmer dart bodies should do well in stringers because they don'tget cheeswired as easily. Also maybe we could do double stacked mags with these?
Wow, at 30 meters these are even more accurate than paintballs that have a whole lot more mass or airsoft. I had never even heard of these kind of custom nerf-type guns or darts.
Excellent! Darts that cost 3x the price but have probably more than 3x the life-span (provided you can recover them)! If they use undyed foam or a fluorescent, improving recovery, their life expectancy well outmatches the value of the workers!
One thing I have noticed about Worker bamboo darts is that if you reuse the darts, over time the accuracy starts get worse. Do you think that these new dragon tooth darts have more durable material and can be reused without suffering from a noticble accuracy loss? If so then maybe that could be an advantage of the dragon darts?
Imagine those whistlers flying over your head on the field. I think those are made for suppression fire more than accuracy. I do like the idea of using them as a "low ammo" indicator. Have the last 2 rounds be whistlers.
@BradleyPhillipsYT either have I using new or darts only used once or twice, but once the workers get soft I get the odd jam and much less accurate. Was thinking these new darts might be worth it if they last longer durability wise.
The lack of power with those new darts is probably what is called "cylinder to barrel ratio" in airsoft. Since a lighter dart moves away from it's power source more quickly, it's unable to absorb all the power from the gun, usually resulting in a louder muzzle report or piston impact in this case. Heavier darts and shorter barrels are generally a more efficient use of power, but there's usually different applications for these things.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT Certainly, but there's a limit to how long a blaster can practically be lol. The US military uses the MK262 loading of 5.56 in their 10.5 inch barrels, a 77gr loading meant for long range precision, versus the standard 55gr or 62gr ones. Same theory really, more power from a short barrel for close range, but also more useful at longer ranges in both short and long barrels. Although you could squeeze more out of those darts and whatever blaster, adding a 6mm ball bearing or something like it inside the dart would probably be the best thing to do.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT For sure, at least with darts they shouldn't be hard to make heavier. With airsoft we are maxed out, since with our current metal oxides added to plastic, you can't get heavier without out lead or tungsten powder, metal balls, or ZrO2 ceramic bearings. Heavy BBs get more and more expensive to the point of 25 cents for ceramic, but with Nerf it's pretty easy to fill the obvious hole in darts with something
The only thing that's going to start making these darts fly as accurately as possible would be all computer-controlled foam & head formation, alignment of the center hole, alignment of the heads, precise cuts of the dart, equal distribution of glue for balance and each round must weigh the exact same for consistency! All of that said, you will be paying more for them as more has to go into them!
I'd say that the two darts tied for the most part, but the best way to look at this would be power retention over range, such as what percentage of the OG power at what range. It's all a large balance though, since a moving projectile is essentially falling, and it's specific gravity will affect how fast it falls. Say a Worker falls 1m in half a second and an XYL does .7m in half a second, that combined with less air time leads to a flatter shot, but maximum range may be different. The fairest test would be to swap dart heads and body styles to really get a good comparison, as I feel that the better head shape is doing a lot for the XYL, whereas the Worker has a terrible shape.
I've shown before with ACC darts which have similar foam but a round head that the round head always wins for range and speed retention. It's just a pity ACC darts kinda suck.
@@BradleyPhillipsYT I remember back when making darts was a big thing and people would order boxes of those heads or similar and go through the huge PITA of cutting and gluing everything up. It may be a cool video to try mixing and matching all the foams/heads, filling dart bodies with weight, and whatever else, but I'm not sure what good it'd do if you have to destroy two darts to make one. Maybe you could get in touch with Worker and have them start making some high end darts.....
Just got a Phoenix 2.0 and not all darts are working that well. They chew up work bamboo darts. I gotta buy some more durable darts considering the crush.
They're REALLY cool, but for 3x the price, I'd honestly stick with the Workers. If they can get the price down to comparable, I'll most definitely be interested!
Brad, how did you upgrade that buttstock on the Apex Prime? Looks absolutely cool. Now im convinced to get the blue colour unit now!! Very well done video on the XYL darts comparison btw.
I wonder how they would fair in comparison to worker darts when fired from nerf AEG’s /HPA since one of the biggest problems with such blasters is the inconsistency of the foam quality. And for me my storm ruins the darts when they are fired out of the barrel.
I actually find it really ironic that somehow you brought the darts from Malaysia (where I live, unfortunately) cause Nerf isnt really popular here at all
If the price were to be around Worker, and they were to change the foam to white.. I have a running theory that darts like XYL may be widely adopted. Although their accuracy is the same as Worker Bamboo, their durability in both foam and glue seem to beat it. If you have the desire to repeatedly use darts like my club does, that would definitely be a boon.

I would say yes. The foam doesn't get as soft over time, and the glue seems stronger on these.
We need to buy these so they get cheaper, and then people actually, FINALLY make double-stack half dart mags!
You legit could double stack these. They're hard foamed enough.
What do you mean by “double stack?”
I wonder how the stiffer foam and stronger glue would do in high powered fly wheelers. Maybe less decapitations?
The issue with flywheel is they could jam in the wheels depending on the crush
