I’ve had memory issues lately and my heart sunk when they all started talking about Squeem. I just assumed I’d forgotten about a titular character.

He is honestly one of the more responsible members of the Bad Kids.
To be fair Kristen needs to be maintaining concentration and the Hangman would probably be too jealous to let Fabian drive the Hangvan

1:22:00 Fabian getting his own Narcissus arc is not something I would’ve expected, but it’s so hilariously in-character 😂
Can you imagine if Fabian had fully died in the first 30 minutes? They'd either have to abandon the combat to go revivify him, or abandon him and Lou makes a new character that is going to be on all promotional materials, confusing everyone who expected his return.
Is it really a fantasy high season if fabian doesn't almost die?
I feel like something coulda happened with Kristen riding the Hangman back, Revivifying him and then racing back, but that'd be wild if Fabian just kicks the bucket immediately
They would have taken his body and revivified him like they did to Gilear in season 2
Fabian is the dumbest, most annoyingly trash person I've listened to in decades. Good thing anyone in real life that is remotely like Fabian gets a swift lesson with a fist and they change their ways.
Riz needed to do that in this game.

Frankly, I love the fact that the table is smaller and they can reach eachother! It makes me feel more "tabletop with friends" vibe on steroid. I love it.

I know the gimmick is that all these NPCs were made up for this premiere to confuse everyone, but I never saw season 2 so these could be real for all I know.

SQUEEM!!! I'll never forget that time they helped Riz find the perfect angelic items to accesorize with. The fashion montage alone will haunt me.
I'll never forget the time Squeem saved Fig's life at that Bar trivia fight. It was hilarious when everyone pointed out that fig was underage and Squeem literally does not drink.

@@Braincain007 It was , but definitely not the best. The two-parter with Altz'har Bittertooth felt kinda out of nowhere.
We didn’t miss a single season though? The whole quest to defeat the Night Yorb is up on Dropout, but hardly anyone ever talks about it. It’s where we first met Squeem, and McDuggan and Ecaf.

I'm not sure about this season. I was excited for it, but I don't see how it can be any good without Squeem and Balthazar
Its crazy how two characters that only joined us last season could become such lynch pins in the group... to lose them like this is too much.

I think it's a sign that Squeem's going to be important, actually. Just look at Gilear, Brennan killed him off like four times and he turned out to be the Chosen One! It must be a sign!

I'm so confused by what character arc ally is planning this season. They've talked about wanting Kristen to learn to get their life together, "when chaos isn't cute anymore" which is an insanely good idea for a character arc. I have no idea how they'll execute this, but I'm soooo hyped to see it in the rest of this season!

Dimension 20 has always been one of the best story telling & improv shows. I adore the genuine Goonie dynamic this family of friends has. Each new season is so good. Always be thankful for The Bad Kids in your life. I would love to eventually see a season where you all play in one of the superhero ttrpg (I fill like this table of players in a comic book setting would be some kind of mix between The Mystery Men and Hellboy).
i’m not really a superhero guy at all but that sounds pretty rad and funny
@@timetimestime After seeing their version of Osmosis Jones as a Noir dark comedy, I really think this would work for them. Especially with the massive amount of Comic ttrpg’s there are to chose from.

@@nickveenin the adventuring party episode on dropout they talk about this…. This season was started “in media res” ie mid action, to move past the “bit” of the night Yorb
Npc’s that the characters “would have met” are introduced as such etc.
But there was no actual summer break season or missing episodes. Just the illusion of it.

A Dimension 20 episode a day keeps the depression away
Brennen went incredibly above and beyond with this first combat it really felt like picking up in a sequel that drops you in the middle of a scene. So beautifully cinematic. I love what Matt does but I feel like Brendan does great job of constantly flexing the system and bending it

This entire year's theme is: "Well well well, if it isn't the consequences of my own actions."
Kinda annoying to see Kristen do the same bit with a god of her choosing for the THIRD time in a row, everything else is amazing as always
Felt this way too, and it's disappointing to see even this god kind of just, blown off and treated as a chore or a nuisance right out the gates. Seems kinda lazy and uninspired :(
i still have some hope that ally will turn it around throughout the season, and kristen will have to own up to her choice to bring back a destroyed god (maybe even intersecting with tracker's quest)
Maybe in this season it will come back to bite her. I think this season is the season of consequences

DUDE!!! I had just finished binging Sophomore year last month, and completely missed that Junior Year already started! I LLLLLLOOVE the intro! Seriously love you guys, and would hold all of your hands if I could, or just actually get some friends I could do a DnD podcast with!
Dunno if the Dimension20 or Dropout folks will see this, but if I can give a quick opinion on the "before the paywall" content for Fantasy High Junior Year--
Don't just upload episode 1. I know, it's what's normally done for all the other series. You show the first episode, and folks can decide if they want to pay to see the rest. For all the other series, I think that works well. The season openers are bangers.
This season, however, kicks off in medias res-- fastforwarding through a non-existent Night Yorb campaign, with a fight that spans well into episode 2 before really setting the tone for Junior Year.
I know it hasn't been done. I know you have to think about the paywall to make sure folks actually get paid for their hard work, but I really think if you want to hook folks on Junior Year, you've got to give them episodes 1 & 2 before putting the rest of the season behind the paywall.
Love the budget went from 📈 the first season, to 📉 the second (still my fav season tho) to 📈📈📈📈📈📈📈📈📈📈 this season holyy
I want to see everybody sitting around the same table in their 70s/80s, playing Fantasy University (FU, I can already feel that joke getting miles on it) as everyone finishes their martial or magical masters and doctorates or maybe a bachelor's or associate's with a couple failed years in between.
I love that the cast is sitting in their original positions too. ❤
Can't believe Duggan fell off the wagon. Really thought that heart to heart he had with Fig helped him, feels bad man.
i know their production quality has increased in the last few years but I'm just coming off of binging S1&2 and the art, sets, props, and stuff are truly stellar! Hoping i'll come into some extra funds soon so i can sub to dropout and watch all the other content i've missed in between!

It's something they're putting on all episodes from here on out, so it's not necessarily that this season will get super dark (though I'm not saying it's *not* going to be dark, ofc)

It was a layered one, gotta peel it back a little.
If there's any point of contention they should've added some type of message for the people who have actually witnessed what Aguefort did in the first episode IRL and then set some verbal boundaries on what their session zeros were like for us.
For those who actually do have triggering traumas, it's far too late: they're already triggered and not watching this content.
Otherwise, this was just a quip about them actually acting on their claims of representation rather than just merely roleplaying them.
It's easy to pretend to be an autistic character for views: it takes a lot more work, that Brennan did, to research what that person's experience would be like and give them genuine representation while also making them a likable character, as Ayda is.

I love the contrast from the last episode of sophomore year being virtual at the start of the pandemic, to the first of junior year being nearly 4 years later, and the first thing done is mass hand holding which would probably have you burned at the stake 4 years ago lmao

I can almost see Gorgug at Level 3 Artificer having a Steampunk styled Monocle
with a mini telescoping lens with a side~frame gear like dial to make it zoom in.
