- Finding pull ups hard? Lots of people find it hard to develop the pull strength for their first ever pull up. What's difficult is often we don't have a way to regress an exercise to a level where we can develop the pull strength through enough volume of work simply because the normal pull up is too hard for us.
The lower body assisted pull ups are great for any beginner as you can use as little or as much assistance as you need from the legs and gradually over time reduce the assistance from the legs as you progressively get stronger at pulling up.
Give them a try and let us know how you get on if you're working towards your first pull up.

Nice to see some progressions that don't require bands.
Our pleasure, glad it helps and yes the bands are great but only one tool
Its probably better to regress without the band for those of us who can do sets of 6 before failure
I just started working out with the rings and yesterday I managed to pull off my first pull up! But I will use these baby steps first before I hurt myself haha thanks for the good advice! I found your channel thanks to Matt from Red Delta Project! Instant sub, Great channel!

The only thing I find hard with pullups is that I suffered lateral epicondylitis in my left and medial in right arm because I love doing them so much :(
Yeah overuse can be an issue - have you seen a physio to see if there is any other root cause? Sometimes issues can come from shoulder mechanics and / or instability issues
@@SchoolofCalisthenics Yes, I am going through rehabilitation now. Problem was I was performing wrist flexion when grabbing the bar to compensate for my weak grip and being really heavy (I'm at 225lbs right now)
Finally getting over my golfer's elbow after a year hiatus of serious upper body exercise. In the meantime I've been doing passive to active hangs to learn how to active my lats and put the tension in my back instead of my elbow. Going to start doing some other straight arm exercises now.
