SHE LOVES TO COOK is one of my all time favourite manga of all time not just for GL!! It's amazing, I bought vol 4 as soon as it released in store cos i couldnt wait. I've been an advocate for the series for awhile now haha
The anime for Cherry Magic finished and I was positively surprised how nice and cute it was. Especially with how respectfully they treated each other. Went into the season expecting to love "A Sign of Affection", came out of the season hating "A Sign of Affection" and loving "Cherry Magic" instead.
I like them. I love Cherry Magic first the live-action series than the movie [🤔 maybe movie more] than the anime! I will not read the manga. Tried and didn't work for me. The Sign of Affection is cute and I like character presentation. Maybe I will read the manga for this one.
@@miyayume_eclectic_dream I love the japanese Cherry Magic live action! I tried the manga but I didn't like it much. I feel like the comedy works *much* better in the LA. Also this is 100% personal taste but I think the manga art style is super ugly 😂
@@panikiczcock2891 I was thinking manga art was plain and nothing stood out also panels were "empty". Do you know where one can get the hands on bluray?
I absolutely love Our Dreams at Dusk and reread it some weeks ago. As for the other mangas, i'm looking forward to read them soon! Loved the recommendations. I would also recommend Gambare, Nakamura-kun! for a light and funny read and The Summer Hikaru Died for more mature and horror themes (wich i love).
Such a great selection! Many of the titles in this video I really want to read soon. Two LGBT+ series that I really like are "My Brother's Husband" and "Bloom into you".
Ooooh these are GOOD! I can't recommend I Think Our Son is Gay and Doughnuts enough too (and Our Dreams at Dusk, with its fair share of content warnings though). I've heard good things of most of the others, with a special mention to I love to cook... of which I've been eagerly awaiting the French release (which just happened, and I'm eager to slowly catch up). Here are my top sapphic ones at the moment, because yuri shall rule the world: - How Do We Relationship? by tamifull (college students, incredible exploration of very messy sapphic romances, one of my favorite mangas period. Has NSFW scenes that feel extremely real and are used to explore the characters's insecurities just as much as everything else) - Even Though We're Adults by Takako Shimura (35 year old women falling in love, one of them is already in a straight marriage; but everyone is mostly of good faith and tries to untangle how this could work, which is a very nice change of pace from this formula) - Run Away With Me, Girl by battan (late 20 women reconnecting after briefly dating until high school, one of them is now married and stuck in an abusive relationship; heavy CW regarding that, simple plot, stellar execution and art style) - Otherside Picnic by Iori Miyazawa (almost-horror, uncanny genre fiction, just as much as it is yuri. Follows two college students bonding over the exploration of an otherworld where Japanese urban legends and true ghost stories live. The protagonist is extremely neurodivergent-coded, canonically has PTSD and some kind of dissociative disorder, slowly and organically learns that you can be gay and not to be in denial of her own feelings. Originally a (great) light novel.) Other titles I want to mention (but I'll keep it brief) include: Kase-san and... (Kase-san and Morning Glories, then Kase-san and Yamada for the sequel series) (staple good high school yuri) Whisper Me a Love Song (staple good high school yuri) The Guy She Was Interested in Wasn't a Guy At All (good high school yuri with an emphasis on rock and a striking art style) The Moon on a Rainy Night (realistic closeted sapphic + love interest with hearing disability) The Summer You Were There (tragic, rather nonstandard high school yuri, with neurodivergent-coded main character) Goodbye, My Rose Garden (Victorian sapphic historical fiction)
Here are some lgbtq+ manga I like: Bloom Into You, a manga about two girls, one who doesn't want to be loved but wants to love, one who wants to be loved and love but struggles to do so. This manga also has an aroace characters in it. Boys run the Riot, a manga about a trans man who finds a group to make clothes with. Love me who I am, a manga about Mogumo who joins a crossdressing cafe for their own reasons. Has tons of lgbtq+ characters and also discusses homophobia and the effects of that on the characters, so trigger warning for that.
So many you discussed in this video are among my favorite manga. Thank you for shining a light on them! For a rec, I would choose “Welcome Back, Aureole” by Takatsu (another pen name for Misaki Takamatsu who is making Skip and Loafer), it’s a oneshot that really rugged at my heart in terms of growing up and relationships changing as you do between two best friends.
I was really happy to hear Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon and Our Dining Table being brought up! They're two of my favorites. =) *Mild spoilers for Doughnuts below* Something I particularly like about Doughnuts is that at the end, the couple gets together, but they're hesitant to do anything sexual together. They seem to prefer being together as opposed to having interest in those sorts of things. I don't see that happen often, and even less often do I see it being outright addressed, so that was really nice. *End of mild spoilers* The others I'm either unfamiliar with or haven't read yet, but I'll definitely check them out! On my end, I'd recommend, all of which are pretty short: *Cotton Candy *Handsome Girl and Sheltered Girl *Haru and Midori *I Can't Say No to the Lonely Girl *Legally Married Yuri Couple *Seven Days *Still Sick *Boy meets Maria (HEAVY content warning, one of the characters has a very dark backstory)
Every time I watch your videos, I always add recommendations to my list and now I really need to read Our Dreams at Dusk. I think my favourite LGBTQ+ manga at the moment is Is Love the Answer. Literally just bought the last 4 volumes of My Love Mix-Up, I watched the drama first and fell in love with the characters. It’s such a good series, can’t recommend it enough. Same with Run Away With Me, Girl. It’s one of my favorite GLs, it’s so good and it made me cry. It is a josei and it does cover heavier topics like toxic relationships (not between leads), domestic abuse (not between leads), and internalized homophobia, and it’s so good. It does have a happy ending, and it’s not too long! Only 3 volumes.
