      Yeah our first group adventure, thought their skill and fitness levels showed well and made it relatively easy to get this done in an organization manner! Thanks, Karl 👍

      Great to hear! Definitely was worth the trip in, don't underestimate the gulley, it's a big part of the experience. Karl 👍👍

    I've read a decent number of reviews of Avery, glad YOU did this video that showed the whole route! The gulley is no joke, your crew are fit climbers that made it look almost routine. Enjoyed seeing you out there with that group - very well done as usual - great area!!

    Thanks for sharing. Nice to see Crested Butte from up high. That 401 is awesome and love seeing those bikes come flying down it. Haven’t done Crested Butte this year, but maybe, we’ll see how it goes. In Ophir yesterday. Good video!😀👍

    Cool looking scramble. My son and I were climbing up Mt Saint Helens in Washington last week and did the scramble through the boulder field on way to the rim. We didn’t think about helmets because I didn’t look that steep. Sure enough a rock was pulled loose above us and zoomed right past him! Now anytime we have people above our line we stick them on. Better safe than sorry…

      Thanks. Heck yeah, ANY TIME climbers are above, be very aware of rocks dislodging!!! Great reminder to all! Karl 👍

    Awesome scramble! Fun video. I appreciate the effort in calling out the surrounding summits, However, you should check your math, you're 0 for 5 on the summits. You nailed Mt Crested Butte though :)

    That looks like serious fun. How does it compare to Kit Carson's north ridge?

    • @KarlDeckerPresents
      @KarlDeckerPresents  3 месяца назад +1

      Difficulty is fairly similar, but the commitment on Kit Carson is huge in comparison plus the usual weather and altitude factors make it much tougher. I sure did love that climb though!

    @Karldeckerpresents Awesome video and climb!! where did you find a route to follow? Is there a gps track somewhere? Also do you know what the total mileage was? I see the gain was 3k but wondering miles too. Thanks!!

    I’m guessing the difficulty of the giant slab is similar to that of the 2nd Flatiron in Boulder?

    • @KarlDeckerPresents
      @KarlDeckerPresents  3 месяца назад

      Second Flatiron is much steeper, can't be in hiking boots!! A technical climb v. a long, tough scramble.

    Karl how did this area north of crested butte compare to the San Juan’s?

    • @KarlDeckerPresents
      @KarlDeckerPresents  3 месяца назад

      Way better than expected, no 14er in the immediate area but very beautiful and we had a GREAT time on our bikes as well!

    • @KarlDeckerPresents
      @KarlDeckerPresents  3 месяца назад

      Well, first off much more solid rock for the entire climbing sections, almost as aesthetic but not quite, easier, less loose down climb.
