I first got into Country listening to the fake cheap stuff that is on Chicago Radio: Pop singers whining while wear cowboy hats. Then, I discovered George Strait, which led me to people like Charlie Pride, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, The Judds, and many more. I discovered Sammi Smith a month ago on a Country Music infomercial, with music from the 40's-80's. I know that these people playing on a Chicago radio station wouldn't last. They just want the pop and hiphop beats. Also, I can't believe I found a Jim Reeves and Tammy Wynette Record at a resell shop...for .50 cents. Brand new!!! That's a shame but a blessing for me.
She was my mothers favourite singer. Mam and I used to listen to Sammi as often as possible. I love her too. Such great , earthy emotion in her singing.
