Quick tip, since it wasn't mentioned in her video: this featherweight boning often comes in a roll, which causes it to coil when you may want it to lay flat. You can iron the boning to make it malleable and then allow it to cool in whatever shape you want it. Be sure to keep the fabric sleeve on it while you iron to avoid the plastic melting to your iron. Happy sewing! Side note: though you may find some beginner sewists using zip ties as boning, Nefertity is correct in warning against it. Zip ties will not only degrade over time, but can also lose their shape, requiring you to replace them to maintain rigidity.
Yay!!! Fresh new tips !! Honestly I don’t know what I would do with out you Neffertity! Your so sweet and patient with tutorials and never forget a stingily thing to help explain ! Tysm
That's some cool feather! Quick question, are you working on making a video on the different kinds of stitches you use with fabric and whatnot? I think it's an interesting topic to me.
Lol mine turned out super stiff at first (probably because I used the wrong foam and technique xP) and then I didnt install them right so I have stiff feathers that still find a way to flop around-
@@animationraptor2583 I wish I had seen this sooner, and while you're spot on with that amazing flying reptile. The Quetzalcoatl that I'm referring to is the feathered serpent/ winged serpent Mayan god of knowledge wisdom weather and more.
Wonderful tutorial!! I'm currently working on a dutch angel dragon premade that I plan to sell at a convention, but I'm struggling quite a bit with how to go about applique'ing the smaller designs onto the wing minky. The tutorial you made on how to make wings was definitely helpful but I'm still not quite getting it. As an idea for your next tutorial, do you think you could go more into detail on how you applique markings into minky? Any elaboration would be a huge help. Love your work, keep it up!!
Wow what a fantabulous tutorial! Personally I really love your content and it helps me improve on my Dino mask making skills, I do have a question tho, please can you tell me or give me a link to the white thin foam looking fabric as I am making spinal plates for a scorpion tail and I think that fabric would be good for it! Thank you very much!
what is the name of the white fabric you use near the start of the video called? 1:11 the white fabric of some kind you use to make the feather shapes with, that you insert later in inside the minky fabric. would be a huge help thanks
Would you happen to know the length of feather this would be recommended for? I have some silly, extremely long feathers I need to make for a tail and I don't particularly want to use something like wood or metal.
Wow, this technique is going to help me make my vulture fursuit! Thanks for the tip Neffertity, you make great tutorials for the furry community. #furry #OwO #UwU #fursuit
hey neffertity, this question is off topic to the video, but do you ever plan to make a quadsuit in the future? Maybe of your dragon character? I'm asking this because I can barely find any tutorials of quadsuits and I'm making one for Halloween this year. Thanks 👍👍
So to begin with, I doubt I will ever be able to do a quadsuit because of my scoliosis. The back pain is too much for me to take the strain a quadsuit would put on me. And following that, I want to mention that quadsuits are INCREDIBLY DEMANDING to wear, and I would not recommend one for anyone with back or neck issues, and not for minors either. This would put your health at severe risk, and is very ill advised.
Hey, totally unrelated question, sorry- Are there any specific brands of paint sealer-type stuff that can be used to seal printed fursuit eyes, so they survive water? (If anyone else knows a specific brand, please leave it in the replies, I have been looking around for a while and nobody has mentioned a specific brand and I’m scared of buying the wrong thing! @~@)
1in is about 2.5 cm iirc you can usually look up conversions on google (like "convert inches to centimeters" or "(x) inches to centimeters") and it'll show websites that can do it for you ^^
Hai Neff, you have already seen me in your mermaid vid but if like to make a small request if you have some time :) I'm not doing this for vies this is simply artist to artist. Do you mind if you take a look ant my oc named Sydney? She is a Fnaf security breach oc but she's leaning to be more of a furry oc and I'm thinking of getting her commissioned when I get a job lol [NOT ASKING FOR COMMISSION] I'm not sure about her design as her color scheme is extremely used and not really original. I was thinking of making her a more original character by making a furry type as a test but again, she dosent look original . I'd extremely appreciate if you had a quick look at her as I'm only in grade 7 and trying to get my name out as not many people know my art Thank you, and sorry for the big read :'l -sam
Based on what I can see it looks very possible to made into a suit. Depending how you intend to tackle the metal like appearance of a FNAF anamatronic might be thr biggest challenge.
OH MY GOSH YOU HAVE SAVED MY LIFE WITH THIS I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO DO THIS FOREVER [also, first! >:]
this is exactly what I needed as the last bit of instruction for making my suit of my fursona, so thank you so much!
same!

It is something I want to cover in my "Basics of Sewing" video I'm working on.

It's just simple heavy duty fabric stabilizer. Amazon sells it.
@@Neffertity thank you very much!
So you gave that feather some boning? lol I approve.

As stated in the video, it's a mid weight fabric stabilizer
love your stuff girl
If you don't wanna buy boning (it's expensive) you can use zipties too!
I really don't recommend zipties because the plastic in them degrades over time and because brittle shards.
Ive i ever get a dino mask, which i plan to get, i think im gonna use this for it, but ill have to learn sewing first (oh boy)
I thought you were a friend of mine at first because you have her OC in your pfp.
I now realize it's because it's stolen. :/
so helpful!!
Fun fact: you can use zip ties instead of boning, if you have trouble finding boning or if zip ties are cheaper
In my experience, zip ties degrade over time and get very brittle when they get old.
Hence why I wouldn't recommend them.
@@Neffertity oh, I didn't know that! I was just going off of what I heard in corseting youtube videos

I generally stick around 9 inches
For the bone, is that a piece of paper you sewed on or is it fabric stabilizer?
Fabric stabilizer
Can you please do a accessary attachment tutorial
sorry if i asked this before in the past, what is the white material you use at the start of the video, where you attach the bonning to?
It's simply heavyweight stabilizer by Pelon.
