  • Save Union Terrace Gardens - Picnic 12 June 2010
A short film documenting a protest against the city council's 'city square scheme' which would have destroyed the historic Union Terrace Gardens and would have cost around £140 million to build.
The result of a public consultation carried out by ACSEF (Aberdeen City and Shire Economic Futures) showed that 55% of those consulted were against the City Square proposals. Nonetheless, ACSEF, decided to press ahead with the project.
Following the city council elections in May 2012 in which Labour proved to be the biggest winner, Labour members kept an election promise and rejected the City Garden Project in August 2012.

You have my full support. I've only been to Aberdeen a couple of times, but these gardens are a lovely location and ideal for trainspotting! Is there a petition I can sign?

Turns out the majority of postal votes voted against the plan.I tried to vote online, but was unable to.I smell a rat.Would like to hear from someone who actually managed to vote online.
