Thank you for your video on replacing the water pump on a ford fiesta. Helped me out a lot. My water pump is leaking badly and bought a new one with new belts from Amazon £45.50 so not that expensive. Just got to replace them now 12th of May 2024 nice sunny day here in Warrington. Thanks again pal and hope all is going good for you !..
Think the gasket is the correct fit, mine for the Focus was a little larger but once compressed it 'fitted', really enjoy the no nonsense videos, not talking shite for 40 mins, you get the important bits or the main bits you'd struggle on, keep up the good work! (Irish Supporter here!)
I once did a water pump on a MK1 vito van with the 2.2Cdi engine it. It wasn't designed with that engine originally so space was ridiculously tight. 8 hours it took! And I have a good set of tools. Your right what your saying though, the second time would always be quicker. I recon I could do it in around 7 hours 59 minutes next time.
Everything nowadays is a learning curve tbh I love your videos I love the channel I like you as you seem to be down to earth and not like most RUclipsrs which is awesome mate
You did it the right way. I've used a gasket made from a cereal box and that blue sealer before and it worked out fine. Couldn't justify buying a second water pump cos the gasket didn't fit as my budget is tight.
Years ago befor the blue sealer we would just use the cereal box. It was amazing how good it was. I remember seeing the blue sealer on cars and not trusting it! As if that was a bodge and kelloge was way much better!!
Sticker update!!!!!!! Bloody typical. Stickers arrived today, ordered on 19 May, they've got a 4/6/18 postmark on 'em, so I guess I can't blame the carrier pigeon for walking all the way from Peterborough to N.Wales now. Hope James sees these posts as like I mentioned previously, his contact email for the shop site kept saying "invalid email address" every time I tried to send an email. Still a fan, but updates about delays etc would be appreciated. Loving the Fiesta vids, keep 'em coming.
WARNING!!! The cambelt tensioner on some engines mounts directly to the water pump so it is absolutely necessary in that version to remove/detach the timing belt. I thought I was in for an easy pump replacement then got stuck halfway through the job because I didn't take the cam timing setting tools with me. It was also not necessary to remove the PAS belt or the alternator, just leave the alternator in position but remove the cast alloy mounting. Disconnect the battery as always though. You have been warned.
Nice vid mate. It's really satisfying to fix stuff yourself.i just solved my yaris burning a lot of oil by just cleaning it's p.c.v valve.small job but it cured it
Just a warning !! on some of these fiestas the pully wheel for the cam belt is mounted to the water pump.. so if you remove the pump..you loose the cam timing. You should find out if yours is on of this type.
Have to do this job in the near future. I can't think off the top of my head why the power steering pump was removed? What does it interfere with during the job ?
hi.... watched with interest... I've now subscribed ... being a a past mechanic, dont do much now.... you learn very quickly... im impressed with your commentary keep up the good work... dakota.... Basingstoke....
Great video, many thanks! Do you now the hight of NM to tight the screws of the waterpump? The screws are M6 and I guess 10-11NM should be enough, but I am not sure. Andreas
Oh. I forgot to mention. The belts can be a pain to take off and put back on and i would suggest to buy new one's. There are 2 tools that can help you take off and put on the belts, they either made of plastic or metal, i bought the metal one's. Seen people using cardboard and screw drivers ect. It's a shame i couldn't post a picture of 2 belt remove and put on the belts, they fit on your pullies and just turn your turn your pully with a ratchet and your belts come off and on without damaging your belts...
did you have to completely drain the coolant system to take the pump off? or did you clamp off one of the hoses? I recently got the timing belt and water pump done in a 1.4 TDCI fiesta, but I noticed that the coolant level is identical as before, its below minimum which i also told the mechanic to fill up as part of his service. Now i think i got screwed over and he didn't change the water pump, and didn't even bother topping off the coolant
Excellent job! Currently my 05 1.4 zetec is losing coolant (after steaming up in the coolant bottle, can't actually find any leaks) also the belt is squeeling when I rev... Does this sound water pump/belt related do you think, rather than head gasket? Also the temperature gauge doesn't go above normal either and no gunk in the oil cap! Many thanks
Hi, I have a 99’ MK1 Focus. Is your engine the 1.6 16v aluminium rocker cover version? I tried to do my water pump today, absolute nightmare but this seems very similar to mine so I am thinking of following your steps. ThNks
Anyone who can assist me, I'm driving 2012 Ford IKON 1.6trend its a Duratec engine, I want to know how and what to use cleaning my block coolant passages?
lol i did this on mk6 fiesta and took me few hours used the paper gasket i got with the pump took me few hours to finish and filled the coolant and it pissed out all the coolant moral of the story if the gasket looks shit dont use it
I really like your videos because they are closer to the real word than the other videos on youtube, BUT you have to pay attention to the focus of your camera, it's really annoying sometimes :) Anyway, thanks for the vid! :)

Under the inlet manifold there’s 3 black breather pipes. Check them and see if they have caved in or split really common. Might be worth a check
Everything nowadays is a learning curve tbh
I love your videos
I love the channel

bigboi F that's a very nice comment mate, I appreciate it!
Bravo! Wonderful job! I was intimidated from performing this job but after watching your video, I don't think it's a huge deal.. Thanks a lot!

Great vid...we learn right along with you!!!
Glad you cracked it. A bit of Hylomar on the gasket goes a long way, helps seal a bit better the mating surfaces.
Great job buddy.
Iv always liked them Fiesta's
I have a Fiesta MK6 with the 1.4i petrol engine.. and, except the intake manifold, it looks absolutely the same.
Nice vid mate. It's really satisfying to fix stuff yourself.i just solved my yaris burning a lot of oil by just cleaning it's p.c.v valve.small job but it cured it

Top class video! Just done my water pump with no problems

Would help if you stated size of bolts so I knew what spanner’s i need

Great video! ☺ THANKS for showing 👍👍
So satisfying watching your videos
Glad you enjoy them bud!
Good video, would have liked to see you fitting belt though.
SAME HERE
Brilliant video as usual, I don’t understand why you had to buy another pump, did ECP not exchange the old one?
Good job brother , thanks from Egypt ,go on
Love the videos matey im a regular viewer and all your projects interest me just brilliant explanations no bull shit and down to earth... top job
Anyone who can assist me, I'm driving 2012 Ford IKON 1.6trend its a Duratec engine, I want to know how and what to use cleaning my block coolant passages?
Cracking vid mate 👌🏼
Appreciate it boy!
Good job mate :) loking forward for the next videos
Job well done there always a pain when you've not done it before could of been worse.
Saved me a lot of time great video
I'm surprised you didn't put any hylomar blue on the gasket?
ZackPlaysMagic if the surface is clean enough the gasket on its own is more than enough.
Always better to be safe than sorry, but what do I know, I've only been a mechanic for 7 years so.
ZackPlaysMagic that is a non setting sealant and the gasket should seal without any problems on its own.
Fairly certain it says on the instructions not to add any type of sealant as it can cause issues :/
well done mate doing it yourself, it's just not worth letting the garage do this kind of stuff on a old car...
Hi James, another video I really enjoyed watching. Do you buy a Haynes Manual for every vehicle that you buy?
Neil Wilson i do tend to, although the Haynes for this fiesta came with it when I bought it! :)
I really like the work, you did great job
Thankyou very much!
How long do stickers take to come in post. Ordered some on the 18th and haven't arrived yet?? Was looking forward to getting them on the car...
Same for me!
3 days.
Connor Clarke #metoo. See above!
Mine arrived today. All good
YouthfulRider same here matie. :)
Great video James i fancy a fiesta zetec s myself now 😂
What year is this fiesta?
What if water pump has been fixed but there is still leak?
Another informative video follow on, keep em coming. You wouldn't be able to tackle most of these jobs on modern cars sadly.
you can, ive done similar to what he has done on a 2011 zetec fiesta, only difference is the timing belt was changes aswell
Sick lad
Should of done a quick oil filter change 👍🏻
what year is this car?
I'm looking for a project car what do people suggest?
Mr.Snippy old school honda civic mate! Best you'll get for your £££.👍
St150
Good job 👍🏻
You could have put black silicone instead of buying a new water pump. It should have do the trick anyway
lol i did this on mk6 fiesta and took me few hours used the paper gasket i got with the pump took me few hours to finish and filled the coolant and it pissed out all the coolant moral of the story if the gasket looks shit dont use it
Great job
so basically to change the water pump it would be easier to change the engine instead, unbelieveable
mrc mrc mrc boucoup pour conseill

the american version on the fusion is a nightmare, they added the idler from the timing belt to the water pump. aweful people.
Good videos n content but ur audio is poor I have to have the volume rite up to hear it
