While I am very (very, very) happy that this happening at the ABA level, there are THOUSANDS OF PRACTICING ATTORNEYS who passed the CALIFORNIA BAR EXAM after attending law school 100% ONLINE. Yes, 100% ONLINE with daily live (recorded) classes (and no in-person orientation) starting in 1998 with Concord Law School being THE VERY FIRST JD program. Many paying tuition out of pocket as low as $4K/year - never more than $12K/year. No student debt and a Cal Bar License.
They should waive the LSAT for those with terminal degree and/or professional expeienece who decide to go to law school in the mid career. I see LSAT as a barrier to many when it comes to ABA-approved law school. I know many colleagues of mine as a doctor with several masters degree who wanna go to law school and they were asked to submit LSAT. They ended up going to non-aba schools and they were fine. 😊
Yeah LSAT was a nightmare my first time around. It has honestly been most of the reason I have not jumped back into the pool to apply and move forward.
wow what a great recognition for St mary's! I ve been to that school several times and absolutely love it and the law school there. I would attend their law school if I get full ride.
I've been looking at going to St. Mary's for this specific program. Studying for the LSAT now, currently have a Juris Masters and spent 12 years as a cop. Thanks for talking about this program, I hope I can get in.
The reality is that in-class universities are going the way of the Do-do bird. COVID changed everything. AI is changing everything. Not only are in-person classes going to get phased out. But, as AI improves there will be less and less need for faculty and professors. The future of law and ed will be more techs and fewer self-inflated profs.
This is awesome, I did my Bachelors and MLS online at ASU and was looking for a full online school. I work full time and travel a lot so it sounds like this program would be compatible.
If you go to a state-accredited school, you should be able to take the bar exam in the state where you attend school. You might not be able to take the bar exam in other states.

Very good point, but remember Concord is not ABA and that can limit you if your future, but it is a good option for some people.
California has been doing online law school for years. Glad to see the ABA taking it seriously finally. Kudos to St Mary's.
St Mary's is where I'm headed!

I'm really excited to hear about their bar preparation process.

I'm in AZ looking for an online option. What did you end up getting into?
Can I take the bar exam after graduating from non-ABA school?

She had a Masters Degree Tho! That means she's completed graduate level work successfully. She was looked at differently admissions wise.
you guys are so cute! Happy New year to both and good luck! 🙂
It's the Matlock comment for me
