BIG APPLE ROLL - New York City's Annual Inline Skating Event, Documentary

- 2021 Big Apple Roll (BAR) is an annual event taking place in NYC, and we are so happy to be back this year!
After pausing midst 2020, this year, BAR took place during #August 4 to 8, had eight events, all consisting of different routes, with each highlighting a distinctive NYC neighborhood, sights, and attractions. BAR hosted long-distance skates, casual skates, #NewYork scenery skates, an aggressive skate meet-up, and many after skate parties and workshops.
This time, we did not get as many skaters from out of the country, but we were honored to host a plethora of skaters nationwide. With everyone bringing their energy and excitement, this was an event to remember and a pleasure to participate in.

Would be so cool to join something like this. I've been inline skating for 27 years, since I was 5 years old, and I am the only person I know who does it. I would be absolutely ecstatic if I was out riding and I saw so many people skating ^^

I have a fair bit of traveling experience and can tell - most of the bigger cities have their blade "club". Doing Friday nights outs and more. More South you go the more easy to get in and more people will be involved. Facebook groups or more active WhatsApp groups. Ask locals!

This would be on my bucket list. Done the Wednesdaynight Skate in Rotterdam Netherlands,
though by the looks of it, the tempo of your tour in NYC is higher, looks more marathon like.
I got rollerblades, but i made the mistake of buying one with 3 big 11 cm. wheels instead of the usual 4 8 cm. wheels. I can skate on them but i braking isn't good enough. I think on wide even terrain it could be doable as i try thrm on bicycle lanes, but for most tours with uneven terrain i use my old fashioned 2x2 wheel rollerskates which is then more doable, but the problem is that it is harder to make tempo with those.

Ah there are quad skaters there that's nice I was always worried I wouldn't be able to keep up with my quads
The group was like about 200-300 skaters. Since there were alot of skaters, turns and red lights it really does not matter what kind of skates you use. Also staff member made sure group is always intact :). Come and visit them next time also every wednesday night at union Square 7:45pm :)

No one does this on Long Island !!!! Very cool!!!! How do they skate all day long thought that crazy!!!

@@Skateterminal really when??? I can’t skate all day though only max 4-5 hrs tops. The video looked like 8am to night time lol. That a lot of skating. The roads here are horrible they need to be all repaved badly lol. The street are so rough if you don’t have the right kind of wheels it so bumpy lol. Which is why I used to a roller rink lol. United skates stole my debit card info an employee stole my debit card and charged $662.61 on my credit card and it took me a year to get the stolen money back too. So I stopped skating in the rink I used to go too because they used my debit card for their company credit card ti refund customers and I never worked there too. They stole my money and it took a year to get my money back too. The employee targeted me because I broke my T12 at United skates in Seaford. The employee knew I be bedridden for months not looking at my bank statements. The guy looks like he takes steroid too so he stole my money to buy drugs or anabolic steroids too. They are refusing to settle with me for personal injury too!!! I spent a year in a back brace and had a kyphoplasty the paid was 10/10. They are refusing to settle with an adequate settlement. I wish I could get a lot of rollerbladers to protest the fact they refused to give me a descent settlement when that employee should be arrested for petit larceny, fraud, and identity theft too. United skates scams their own longtime customers. Can you help me stage a protest at a roller rink?????

@@EllyValentini I dislocated my shoulder before ethe event and I had shoulder strap but probably someone hurt himself tol :) it happens when you or another person is not that careful. I believe totally worthy

Streets are open, but since you are 200+ skaters , I believe they also have a permit to control traffic when skaters appear in the scene...
definitely looks fun skating with all those people. I skate alone 😔 I havent met anyone that skates here yet

There are cool skates from Austin. You can find a group that does weekly meetings such as roller rink, speed, street, or skate park. I am from Houston. I found my group on Facebook. I also updated www.skateterminal.com as I found new groups.
