Great review. The lag you felt is the newly fitted petrol particulate filters, the older years of the mk3 didnt have this and launched much more brutally.
The TTRS has a grab handle in the trunk, its right inside behind the door. Theres a piece where you can slip your hand to grab and pull the rear hatch down.
There's a volume and track knob on the steering wheel for the driver. The one in the center console is for the passenger. Its also convenient for the driver if your right hand is on the shifter.
The TTRS and RS3 haldex AWD is Full Time AWD. It can never send 100% rear, only 100% front. It is mainly fwd biased surprisingly. Your review is very good so far I just felt like you would like to know about the haldex being full time AWD One thing to note is this is a single turbo in-line motor with an OPF filter in the exhaust. It’s gonna be a little laggy by design but there are aftermarket options that offer a rolling antilag Tune to effectively eliminate this issue. If it was a 2018 the car wouldn’t have this issue as badly as it does I think the TTRS is a solid driver’s car, you have to hit a track with it to discover it’s true purpose, straight lines don’t do it justice sadly. I would recommend taking one of these to the track if you have the opportunity, you’d be surprised
Whether a car has character or not is a very subjective assessment. It really depends on what one's looking for. If I am looking for a daily driving car in the Northeast part of the country, then to me this car is characteristically fearless as it is dauntless in any kind of weather. To claim it has little character is perhaps a bit unfair.
You have a point there....unfortunetly I don't have that perspective but your comment made me realize that I should think about those things. Thanks for watching Ron
Little Character BS! i've owned my Turbo Blue TTRS for 18 months and have never seen another one. i have 24,700 mi on it and the car is perfect. Never one issue requiring a trip to my dealer. entered the Kingman AZ Street Drags. My TTRS was the only stock vehicle to have an ET in the 7's for 220yds 99mph beating a C8 Corvette. i have a 034 cold air intake and used 100+ octane
There are two lags; one is the throttle response (at take-off), and the Audi R8 has the same lag, and the other is the Turbo lag. Pedal Response Controllers fail to reduce the initial lag. And the best way to do away with the turbo lag is to downshift before any acceleration. Aside from the above, the car is very sweet to drive
Every turbo engine is going to have a lag. Your waiting for the exhaust gases to spool the turbo and feed the engine cylinders excess air. That process doesn't happen instantly. Super charges however do. And your not supposed to initially slam your foot down on the gas pedal during a roll or a dig an expect to get a good launch. Progressively apply pressure until you get turbo spool, than floor it.
Now that we know about the TTRS from countless reviews and the tuner car crowd. Calling this a car with little character, this video definitely didn’t age well. This car is so good that it made the RS3 a viable option being cheaper. The trick diff is great for the RS3, but the TT is the better car in my opinion.

The tail gate does have hand grabs, two of them. You need your eyes testing mate. They’re on the underside of the plastic trim on the tailgate lip. Good review, but don’t agree with your conclusion. I have this car and in the same colour. It’s a mini R8 and the most practical coupe out there.
can you at least remove the license plates for the review so the actual car isn't blurred? you aren't going to get a ticket by sitting in front of it without plates. at least put a piece of paper on the plate instead of blurring car details. come on, you should know better than that
Nothing looks (exterior / interior) or sounds anything like this car. And few can accelerate to 60 faster. If that’s not character I don’t know what is.

Interesting, thanks for the info!
Drive Steady youre welcome, its the same reason why you cant rev the car much at idle as audi fit soft limiters to all their cars
Is that a new regulation? The Nissan gtr and C8 Corvette i drove had it as well?
Drive Steady its been heavily enforced in Europe it may be different in america im not sure. Audis have been doing this since late 2017
@Ian thanks for fact checking me, im jealous the us doesnt have them😂
Funny, i got this car because of all the character it had. The 5 cylinder alone has more character than 95% of engines out there!

Good review. I enjoy your attention to detail in your reviews and it’s nice to see you driving around the SFV.

It is very simple - this is the Mini Me of the R8. I am too big for the car but i respect the performance of the car though.
