    How to weave in yarn ends in duplicate stitch for Garter Stitch. Garter stitch is the same on both sides and it's tricky to weave in yarn ends invisibly. You want both sides of the fabric to look the same as much as possible.

    Miss Cheryl, have the most wonderful day you've ever had. They are going to treasure it!!! Every year on their anniversary, they should take their picture with it, sitting in the same positions under it.

    Great tip. Was just doing this and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working. Thanks to you now I know.

    Thank you Mary. I'm delighted with it. Not only is it beautiful (it's the yarn) but I knit love into every stitch. I'm giving it to them tomorrow, at my 66th birthday dinner which they are hosting. I've wrapped it festively and it makes me smile just to think of giving it.

    Oh . . . I just picked it up in the knitting vibes ether. What a great idea to make it big enough for the kid to take to college. Thank you for watching and commenting and I'm delighted it will help you.

    Yes, I was wondering why a person would duplicate stitch on a garter pattern, to weave in the ends as you advise.....and you covered that at the end; much appreciated; TY!! And, wow.....that afghan is lovely and fascinating. I'm working on a log cabin blanket now.....where stitches are bound off and picked up on the sides. On the bind off, I use a size 1 1/2 larger needle; 9/10 1/2 .....makes it a bit easier to pick up those sides.

    Gosh Mary . . . I didn't even hear you ask. I'm putting things in a kind of order these days . . . this is the second of 4 programs dealing with yarn ends. I washed the blanket today and laid it out to dry because it was a beautiful, sunny and dry day. After almost a year of working on it it needed a good wash before being wrapped up as a present. Poor kids! They were married June 1st and I've kept this as a prop until today. It really is beautiful if I do say so myself. I hope it's an heirloom.

    Thank you! Just used this to save a dropped stitch in the middle
    of my shawl and weave in the ends invisibly.

    Thanks for such a wonderfully clear tutorial. I needed to know how duplicate st on garter in order to reinforce some garter st sock heels that are starting to wear thin. All the books I have that show duplicate st show it only on stockinette. Thanks also for the tip about making the end wispy; now I know why my ends always work their bad selves loose.

    This is very helpful, thank you.
    Is there a way to completely conceal the original garter patch? I know it can be done over a stockinette.

    Hi, Miss Cheryl. I had asked about it on your most recent "Welcome To My Knitting Channel" video :) The afghan is so beautiful!

    Is there a way of doing duplicate garter stitch to fix a hole in a similar manner to when you use it on stockinette after making “ladders” for the stitches to sit on?

    whats the difference between dulplicate stitch and just using the tail with the yarn that you're knitting with? I usually just knit with a double thick strand until my tail runs out. Does that create a different look?

    Oh, my. Perfect timing. Fate. Kismet. Luck of the Irish. Wyrd. Whatever. How did you know that I am working on a garter stitch baby blanket (big enough for later when the kid goes to college) in squares and connecting as I go? Thank you.

    Wondering. What are the reasons to duplicate stitch over garter stitch? Thanks and Happy Holidays!!

    Is there any way to duplicate stitch for moss stitch?

    • @CherylBrunetteTV
      @CherylBrunetteTV  4 года назад

      Yes. Duplicate st is only following the path of the stitches in one row, then another. The best way to answer your question for yourself is to do a swatch and try it. You'll learn a great deal. You may not look the look of the first row of a different color in purls on the right side of the work. Nonetheless, I recommend you try it. Then you'll know for sure.
      p.s. If it's all the same color it can be invisible.

    is there a way to make 3 purls on top of 3 knit sts. to continue garter stitch border?

    • @CherylBrunetteTV
      @CherylBrunetteTV  8 лет назад

      +Maureen Mahrlig Hi Maureen. I'm not sure I understand your question. If you simply knit every row, you get garter stitch. You can add knits or purls above any knits or purls. Tell me a little more about exactly what it is you are trying to do. Knit a garter border on a gauge swatch?

    • @maureenmahrlig8560
      @maureenmahrlig8560 8 лет назад

      Hi thank you for answering. I made a baby blanket with a three st. garter stitch edge on each side. On the wrong side I purled the three sts. instead of knitting, so it looks like stockinette just in that row. I was trying to figure out how to put three purl sts over the knit to keep the continuity of the garter.

    • @CherylBrunetteTV
      @CherylBrunetteTV  8 лет назад

      +Maureen Mahrlig Knit the edge 3 sts on every row. Garter st is simply knitting every row so when you are presented with purls facing you, knit them. I hope this makes sense.
