- In this episode, Siskel and Ebert review: Ffolkes, A Small Circle of Friends, Where the Buffalo Roam, Nothing Personal and Foolin’ Around.
25:38 "George Kennedy! It's not enough he makes those lousy 'Airport' movies stars as the cruise ship commander..."
😂
Roger rules
I know Foolin’ Around was lame, but Busey & O’Toole had a sweet chemistry. It played on constant rotation on HBO when I was growing up.
Roger Moore drinks from probably the biggest bottle of Scotch I've ever seen carried. ffolkes or North Sea Hijack - excellent adventure film. BIG spoiler in this Trailer though.
have never understood the adoration a lot of people have for Hunter S Thompson, a lot of people including some big stars love the stories of how wild and crazy he allegedly was but all i see is someone i would not have wanted to be around. stick to is writing and not his manic personal persona.
I am not a huge fan of Thompson but I must say, he was a hell of a writer. He was the Mark Twain of his era.
like robin williams, yeah?
Thompson’s cultural idol was fellow Louisville native Muhammad Ali. HST commented many time about how Ali never compromised himself, defined who he was and stood by the self-identity.
In a world, society and culture that values selling out, many people, like myself, appreciate that Thompson lived, and wrote, by his own set of rules.
A Small circle of friends 👍🌟🌟🌟
I love WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM, but they're not wrong about the flaws of the film. The flaws are what makes it fun, a slob comedy about Hunter Thompson.
I love how you can hear Gene groan off camera at Roger's lame "Ffolkes" pun.
I guess Ffolkes was meant to be a counterstereotype in this movie. But people expect the much admired James Bond persona.
Gene looks like he's still up on the tail end of a 36 hour bender.
This is a rare episode where I have only seen on of the movies: A Small Circle of Friends, which was good, not great.
I have seen Ffolkes aka North Sea Hijack. Moore was amusing but that was it. Anthony Perkins was miscast and the action sequences weren't very exciting.
When I wsa a kid, it was a fun watch on TV, with Moore playing an interesting character.
@@kchishol1970 I think Michael Parks should have been the main villain and Perkins the henchman.
Gene looks and sounds drunk af in this episode.
I think S & E missed something. Hindsight helps to see that the creator was poking fun at the gender ROLE REVERSALS happening at the time. One can argue that he hates women. I don't think that is literally true. He only hates the idea of women doing what were male roles. And ironically, Ffolkes doing needlepoint and liking cats was/is a feminine trait.😂😂😂😂 The other piece that is hilarious is the knowledge that both Moore and Perkins were both gay. Also, I don't know if you noticed Perkins character was gay. 😂😂😂😂😂 This was very avant-garde at the time.
Roger Moore was not gay and neither was his character.
