I have the distinct feeling that Anthony may have been behind the scenes in a few videos. Though not actively involved with the video itself, but just watching. That might be why some of the cast would make the where’s Anthony jokes from time to time. But again, this is just pure speculation.

I was tryna remember if Damien was post-leave cast. I remember he came AROUND the same time but I don’t remember if it was just before or just after.
It’s crazy to think Anthony barely knows DAMIEN, let alone people like Tommy, Spencer, Jackie, Angela, Chanse, Amanda, etc.
He might know Spencer and Tommy because they were crew for the longest time
Spencer worked at Smosh around 2013 I think.
I would guess that, based on what I understand about the company culture at Defy, there’s a good chance that even though people like Spencer and Tommy worked there as crew, Anthony (and the rest of the cast) likely didn’t know them very well, if they knew them at all, and definitely didn’t know them as on camera talent
Spencer started at Smosh in May 2014. Tommy possibly could've met him, but it's similar to Damien's case
Tommy and Spencer knows Anthony for sure. Damien also has met Anthony as well i think
My biggest worry with all of this is that maybe Anthony had grown into a different type of content from this and it wouldn't fit.
Clearly, I was a fucking idiot for worrying about this, because Anthony and Ian immediately clicked back together, this is the funniest episode I've seen in a while.
If anything I think I like Anthony even more now. He is absolutely hilarious, more comfortable in his skin and the chemistry with Ian is undeniable. Welcome back guys. We've missed you.

If Anthony comes back for another Try Not To Laugh (I'm pretty sure he's very busy with Ian & Anthony sketches and his "I Spent a Day With" series, which is fair), I think it would be fun to see him try the Blind Pairs rules because those shenanigans have some of the funniest improv. It's also a fun way for the cast to challenge their improv skills.
