Thx for this. That hatchet is interesting, nice to have the hammer on it. I never go into the bush without my Silky pocket boy folding saw, use it at home for trimmimg rosebushes etc.
the only category i would add to this would be at least one small say "corporate workplace" friendly or family function friendly knife like a swiss army or a small slipjoint for when youre around people that get jumpy around bladed tools.
Great video Israel, I mentioned this before, that Estwing hatchet was used by Dick Poneoke when he built his Alaska Cabin at Twin Lakes I think it was the Carpenter Hatchet, I own 3 Estwing's in different sizes, I really like them, all I need is to chop some kindling and get to some dry wood then once the fire is going ALL wood will burn so a good saw is a tool I would add to your 7, but for thin blades Estwings fell great and I have no problems splitting my size wood, actually in my personal opinion I like that O.K.C. you selected over the Ka-Bar U.S.M.C Knives, I had one bend at the tang since it's a stick tang and I never had any problem with my Gen2 SP Knives, I think the tang is stronger on the O.K.C.'s Yeah I agree with the 7 (+ saw) heh heh heh system, although doing this for a few twenty-four X 7's knives accumulate and so does the quality, Thanx for keeping me on track.
Very nice selection. I was glad to see the Condor Machete. I just found that company and they make very good knives, machete's and other tools. If I had to fight with any of them. I'd use the Machete. The Estwing is probably the most useful, and being all metal wont break.
I am glad you included a Cold Steel in the system because all blades shown are great value so Cold Steel certainly deserves a place in a budget system. Now the only thing I would make different is to include a neck knife on the system like the Cold Steel Kiridashi because some people like me like their EDC blades in a form of a small fixed blade.
Good vid bro! It would be cool if u show wut you would pick for yourself outta your collection. That would be sick and id do one to and maybe choice of neck knife. I think the fans would dig that
When I was working as a surveyor party member I broke an estwing axe .its was the longer one but we still used it . It looked like the axe you have there !
I have the Kershaw Antelope Hunter 2 in the 8Cr13Mov with the orange handle. I tried to buy it in the AUS-8, but it was listed by mistake and the company rectified the mistake on it's website, but it's still a nice knife and much as I hate to admit it, I cut myself with it as it's super sharp. It's also very light, so this will serve for me as a substitute Mora. Liked your choices.
Cold Steel Recon 1 4" clip is bad ass I've owned it for a month now love it even how the coating comes off makes it look more tactical. Also the g10 is the best thou does rip up my pockets overall 9/10 for me. Good review!
very nice, looks like a system i could have put togeter. onely thing is that i would probaby go for a hatchet with a wood handel since it is easyer to repair if it ever broke, and it would allso be lighter in the shaft wich then improves the chopping power.
Actually all the guys in my unit that have been deployed say that it's better to just have a tough folder or a small fixed blade because it's easier to carry and use and can still do most tasks. Very good video though! Love your channel!
Wow a year later and this video is still very relevant. That being said, if you want a suggestion, I think you should do an update or second video since they are so many new knives that you might want to suggest to buyers. By coincidence I finally purchased the SCHF14 and thought I'd hate the handle, but I really like it. If you have the time, since you mentioned the CRKT Hammond, I was curious what your feelings are about the CRKT Special Ops Cruiser and the other larger CRKT Cruiser. I don't impulse buy, but they were both reduced to $10, so I thought "what a deal".
Sound advice personally I'd rather that 20in machete skip ka bar go with the shorter fix blade and the medium folder but also no one ever mentioned that you will need some sort of sharpening device be it a file or a stone all these blades gets dulled with use
When i see a recon 1 I almost dont recognize it because I mod the second finger groove away and round it with the back of the handle curve . I do the lock spring Celtic bottom landyard and pocket cilp . Hu hu custom recon 1 !
funny you have similar taste, i picked gerber guardian (small fixed) gerber paracord (medium fixed) gerber mark 2 (large fixed) gerber swagger (large folder) gerber swagger mini (small folder) cold steel kukri (machete) and an SOG tactical tomahawk (hatchet) OBVIOUSLY i like gerber but i do already own these and they are the knives i wanted. clearly there is a LOT less utility to my collection BUT weapon usability is good even though i paid way more for my stuff. it's EXPENSIVE in canada for good blades. your thoughts on my choices?
I must admit, I don't like most Gerbers (although I like my Gerber Big Rock and D2 Metolius). I have the SOG hawk too, but I like the carbon steel hawks better.
If you had to replace the Ontario blade would you use the cold steel Gi tonto for $25 or the cold steel bushman for about $25. In the past you have given a good review in the fighting knife category to the cold stell OSS knife. Is that blade to light for what you are listing.
I remember watching this video around the time it came out, its especially relevant with today's political climate and social unrest. Wealljuggleknives the prophet lol.
Glad you're still here :] Everything ends badly, that's why it's ending. I believe that was from Tom Cruise's character in the movie Cocktail LOL. But, that is one prophecy is always right!
Sure, why not? If you need to clear away some overgrown vegetation. Also, some people have larger properties and may have some woods, ranch, farm, or whatever. It is a useful tool.
I'd throw a multitool into the mix instead of the medium folder! Like a Leatherman wave or something. Feeling you in general though. Very cool.
Good choices. Good cutting tools at a reasonable price. Great for a blue collar guy like me. Thanks for sharing.
I luv watchin WAJK informative & entertaining, I hope you never retire!
Thx for this. That hatchet is interesting, nice to have the hammer on it. I never go into the bush without my Silky pocket boy folding saw, use it at home for trimmimg rosebushes etc.
As always, a beautiful show of blade mastery and application.
the only category i would add to this would be at least one small say "corporate workplace" friendly or family function friendly knife like a swiss army or a small slipjoint for when youre around people that get jumpy around bladed tools.
Nice rounded-out collection & great philosophy of cutting tools.
Thanks for the vid.
Peace, Duane

I like the way your thinking "no law and order except for what you can impose"
Nice set of blades. I think I could survive with those.
Good video--nice to see this segment represented.
The recon 1 is the quality I hold other knives to .the price is just the icing on the cake deal maker instead of the deal breaker !
Very nice selection. I was glad to see the Condor Machete. I just found that company and they make very good knives, machete's and other tools. If I had to fight with any of them. I'd use the Machete. The Estwing is probably the most useful, and being all metal wont break.
Maybe your best video yet. Very well done
Thanks!
i always love options

Nice vid! Maby for a large survivel blade: The ka-bar large heavy bowie.
cold steel leatherneck is awesome too! cool vid!
Good vid bro! It would be cool if u show wut you would pick for yourself outta your collection. That would be sick and id do one to and maybe choice of neck knife. I think the fans would dig that
Great work, Fun to watch for us fellow blade-O-philes
XD
When I was working as a surveyor party member I broke an estwing axe .its was the longer one but we still used it . It looked like the axe you have there !
Another good choice other than the Recon would be the Cold Steel Voyager, which I think is cheaper. I have both and love both.

you are the blade master dude
Cold Steel Recon 1 4" clip is bad ass I've owned it for a month now love it even how the coating comes off makes it look more tactical. Also the g10 is the best thou does rip up my pockets overall 9/10 for me. Good review!
mine broke 4 months after perchase. all i was doing was batoning wood.
+Tanner L " all i was doing was batoning wood."
Very interesting video - I'm all for a good-quality budget blade... and the polish on the bevel of that Martiini is lovely :-)
Nice review and advice. Gracias
Very well thought out. Props
very nice, looks like a system i could have put togeter. onely thing is that i would probaby go for a hatchet with a wood handel since it is easyer to repair if it ever broke, and it would allso be lighter in the shaft wich then improves the chopping power.
And u could add a folding saw like a Bahco Laplander for $20
Actually all the guys in my unit that have been deployed say that it's better to just have a tough folder or a small fixed blade because it's easier to carry and use and can still do most tasks. Very good video though! Love your channel!
The full sized fixed blade can be replaced with a purse and make-up, if it's too much steel.
Lol I'm sure my sergeant (a 22 yr. vet) will love that one.

Good video. there are lots of good knives available at 20 to 50 dollar range.
Very nice selection, i like the martiini, the eastwing and the condor. but for a better price/quality ratio i would choose ifferently.
I have the recon xl clip point works just as well as some high end machetes
I love your vids!!
Thanks!
Anything "Aranyik" [ex: latin machete] - silky saw gomboy - mora survival knife orange & "If" you want a tactical folder, the Schrade sch304.
A SAK and/or leatherman, an axe and a small-medium fixed blade is a much more compact list and covers many more bases for cheaper...
great video dude.
Sound advice personally I'd rather that 20in machete skip ka bar go with the shorter fix blade and the medium folder but also no one ever mentioned that you will need some sort of sharpening device be it a file or a stone all these blades gets dulled with use
this is *great*!
i have too much blades that fill the same role, i must have a greater outlook.
If you haven't already, maybe use the same "budget system" for a video on firearms? Thank you Sensei.
Excellent! Now make a vid that includes 7 categories of higher budget blades ;)
Usmc ka-bars are well known for breaking at the handle in wood getting chores !
That is true, I know a guy in Finland who broke one from chopping.
When i see a recon 1 I almost dont recognize it because I mod the second finger groove away and round it with the back of the handle curve . I do the lock spring Celtic bottom landyard and pocket cilp .
Hu hu custom recon 1 !
would a folding saw add to optimizing these set of outing instruments for picnic in the parks & camp grounds?
Spot on advise... IMO
Good Job WAJK!!!
Hi, thanks, Storm!
I would stick with a combat/fighting knife around 7 inches and eliminate the need for the other 4 knives below that
i know this is for everyone but for a disaster or apocalypse situation, a karambit would be efficient.
Great vid, thanks for the upload, I own a few of those blades, excellent choices.
I've noticed ratings are always disabled on your vids, why?
Because people can make multiple accounts or hire services to thumbs down en masse...

I would swap the recon 1 for a Kershaw skyline
Hi mister will you do an update of it after 4 years you might havé seen better blades????
Prices went up so meaby 500$ limit
If you had to replace the Ontario blade would you use the cold steel Gi tonto for $25 or the cold steel bushman for about $25. In the past you have given a good review in the fighting knife category to the cold stell OSS knife. Is that blade to light for what you are listing.
That is true, I actually just got a Bowie Bushman recently, I probably would have included it in this vid if I had gotten it before making this.
Ontario machete is what I have american made and 1095hc less than 50 by far
Gear Talk: 7 Essential Blades
Did that martini com with the polished bevel?
Yes they do.
Every so often you can get a recon 1 for $50.00 !
My backup to a firearm is, another firearm!
But what is your back-up to to the back-up firearm ...
@@WeAllJuggleKnives One of those wooden shanks you've made on your videos 😂😂😂
I remember watching this video around the time it came out, its especially relevant with today's political climate and social unrest. Wealljuggleknives the prophet lol.
Glad you're still here :] Everything ends badly, that's why it's ending. I believe that was from Tom Cruise's character in the movie Cocktail LOL. But, that is one prophecy is always right!
I'd prefer easy-to-sharpen chinese knives over a Scandy knife all the time.
I mean you could even sharpen some of these on a brick.
What about a saw?
should have gone spyderco tenatious for edc folder.
Ontario rat 1, spyderco tenacious
You can get a 20-inch lawnmower blade for $12
Are you using a machete in you'r backyard??
Sure, why not? If you need to clear away some overgrown vegetation. Also, some people have larger properties and may have some woods, ranch, farm, or whatever. It is a useful tool.
Thats right! I Love you chanel :)
Say Heah, Yeah, I think I'm covered, heh heh heh, , ,
Dude, do you even juggle knives for real? hahahahaha just kidding, great video for people on a budget! Fortunately I don't belong there :D
