In my opinion, he does know better, he's just a shill for the American and Mexican stars because that's what the "old order" of the boxing establishment still believes in. Boxing in 2019 is still the one sport that is run like some racist colonial town from 1950. The top foreign stars mostly seem to just be used by the boxing establishment to get fans interested in American or Mexican stars by waiting until the foreign stars are old before letting them fight the American or Mexican stars and then if that's still not enough to help the American or Mexican stars win, they'll just rob the old guy on the scorecards since most old boxers lose the speed and power necessary to actually knock out the top American or Mexican boxers (especially since many of the top boxers from all over the world are probably on PEDs, making them much harder to knock out).
The boxing establishment has failed to evolve at all. They still seem to believe that only Americans and Mexicans are safe bets to consistently sell lots of tickets and PPVs and generate big money, even though reality has shown otherwise. Despite getting far less opportunity on average, many foreign boxers have still quickly become the biggest economic stars in the sport. Pacquiao (the only one who got fair opportunities coming up until they denied him the Floyd fight in his prime, which stalled Pacquiao from becoming potentially the first billion dollar fighter over his career in his history, but until then he at least got lots of opportunities in his prime vs the biggest American or Mexican names. The next name did not), GGG, Joshua, these are all foreign boxers who became top 5 economic stars in the entire sport, yet the biased 1850's attitude Boxing Establishment ignores them.
Lomachenko was also denied many opportunities, which is why only now at 31 years old, the end of his prime, is he finally becoming a big economic star. But he still is, and it would have happened a lot sooner with fair opportunity. Kovalev was on the road to superstardom before someone in the boxing establishment killed his one prime legacy fight, Stevenson, then another one, Ward, was delayed until Kovalev was past prime, then they still robbed him to top it all off lol. But had he gotten the Stevenson fight and won, and/or gotten the decision against Ward, he would have reached P4P #1 in the sport after Floyd's retirement and become a huge financial star in the sport as well because he would not have just been P4P #1, he would have been one of the most entertaining to watch fighters EVER to reach P4P #1 in the history of the sport.
So there is no rational reason for the Boxing Establishment to favor local boxers over foreign boxers, but they always do, and since Max has in my opinion acted as sort of an unofficial spokesman for the Boxing Establishment going back to his time at HBO, which may be why they ousted Larry Merchant for no reason and gave his job to Max, that would explain a lot of the things he says about boxing, the ridiculous positions he takes, or that he may guide his coworkers into taking. Was it him or Steven A who said Joshua and Wilder are the two top dogs of the division even though Fury clearly beat Wilder, which makes Wilder #3 behind Fury and Joshua? That's just the latest example of the kind of manipulations the "Boxing Establishment" regularly takes part in. The more people become hardcore fans of boxing and really pay attention to this stuff, the more they will start to see them do it all the time in my opinion. And in my opinion Max, as I said, is a frontman for the Boxing Establishment, and he almost always takes the position that the Boxing Establishment thinks is in its economic or nationalistic interest, or whatever their internal motivations are who can say for sure from the outside, but if it really is just about economics and not something else, they must have never taken a single economics class because they constantly prioritize less marketable local boxers over more marketable foreign boxers.

Ben Dev I didn’t know, from what I learnt he was offer 120 mil, 20 for Brazil which was gonna happen anyway, then 100 back to back with Joshua, I could be wrong of course. Stupid amount of money all the same though! You know what’s more ironic? He turned the whole thing down, then went on to make 10 mil fighting Brazil, with no signs of taking on Joshua any time soon. If 100 mil was not enough, why not make Joshua an offer? I thought he said he wanted the fight and it was and still is Joshua ducking him...... All I want is seeing the fight as a fan!

there should be some kind of playoffs in boxing so fighters cant duck each other

    • @YaMommasNextDoorNeighbor
      @YaMommasNextDoorNeighbor 5 лет назад +1

Can not and will never be that way. Professional boxing isn't a league like the NFL or NBA or NHL, etc......Boxers are their own company. They hire promoters, managers, etc.... the same way a business would have a marketing team and things like that. They negotiate fights the same way any company would negotiate any business proposition that involves them to merge or co-exist with another company. The point of negotiation is to maximize your profit as much as possible within the agreement vs the other company. Thus boxing has a lot of politics surrounding each matchup, even if it's not a title bout.
The closes we would get to a playoff is the mandatory fights for each belt within a weight class that requires the holder to face whatever top contender for that belt. And even with that, the holder of that belt can avoid that match up by moving up or down in weight class to fight someone else or just refusing to accept the match up in the mandatory, thus giving up the belt.....
Canelo, Mayweather, De La Hoya, Sugar Ray, Marquez, etc.... have all done this in their careers.
The biggest fights in boxing happen within the negotiations. What we see in the ring is the final stages. Thus the reason you can see multiple guys within one weight class, dominate for almost a decade together, but never face each other.

I wish First Take would talk about deserving boxers for once, like maybe Oleksandr Usyk. This guy actually fought all the champions in his division and then moved up. That's how a true champion should operate. Why are they giving all this air time to Deontay Wilder who has 40 fights but has still never faced a single A-level, prime, in shape opponent? No one cares that he fought a 60 year old Luis Ortiz or an out of shape Tyson Fury, except for the fact he still almost lost, or did lose, both those fights, exposing what a hypejob he is.
Give the air time to actual top boxers who fight actual top prime opponents. Pacquiao, Usyk, Fury, Juan Manuel Marquez, Lomachenko, Prograis and Josh Taylor, Devin Haney is at least saying and doing all the right things so far, Julian 'JRoc' Williams who chased down Jermall Charlo for a fight, lost, then chased down Hurd and won. That's a real champion, not a hype job. Anyone like that, First Take should be talking about. Wilder, they should just tell him, "We'd love to have you back on the show in the future, but only after you actually fucking do something in the sport. Stop ducking, go and fight actual top PRIME IN SHAPE opponents, then win or lose, we'll have you back because you will have earned it. But as long as you're just going to keep fronting while refusing to fight the best, we're not going promote a fraud to our viewers who trust us, so we're not going to have you back. We're not going to betray our viewers trust that has been built over YEARS of hard work just to help promote one fraud supposed athlete and competitor who in reality shows zero interest in competing against the best. Why would we do that?"
That's just being fair. They need to stop rewarding PRIVILEGE and start rewarding MERIT. Wilder has coasted along most of his career on PRIVILEGE not actual accomplishments of MERIT (aka prime top opponents) in the ring. If Usyk, JRoc, or any of the names I mentioned tried to do what Wilder has done, they would never be allowed on First Take or any show like that in America. They would never get that opportunity, and rightfully so. But because the WBC engineered Wilder to become their "American Heavyweight Champion" without actually beating the champions of the prior decade, the Klitschkos... Wilder is the only one of the "big three" who refused to fight a Klitschko... now he coasts by on his "American Heavyweight Champion" privilege getting one UNEARNED opportunity after another while boxers like JRoc or Usyk who actually earned it get no such opportunity at all.
It's fucked up. We as boxing fans should not support it. You might think it's not a big deal but every time we support shit like this, we're really destroying the sport. The sport wouldn't even be such a mess today if people hadn't supported shit like this for decades before now, but if we ever want it to get better, we have to be a smarter new generation of boxing fans and stop supporting this bullshit.

You obviously believe that more than Wilder does because he's doing everything in his power not to take the fight. And if you watch wilder's post match conference after the Dominic Breazeale fight he said himself he does not know if he can knock out Joshua!! FACT

You believe it more than wilder himself, even he has never said it.

Oh please you guys hang on every word and twist them just to make it fit your point of view. Wilder has said multiple times Interviews that he would finish Joshua by knockout. Of course he’s not going to be screaming in the ring saying I’ll knock Joshua out when he’s not even ringside. Y’all are so damn delusional it’s crazy

Joshua has to fight both to be the legit heavyweight champ. We only want to se Joshua fight wilder and Tyson. That’s it

This statement makes me laugh because AJ will sell more tickets, ppvs and generally make more money fighting anyone. Yet wilder and Fury will struggle to headline a PPV without AJ 😄

@@justsaying4488 Yes it does, because the rematch will sell out just like any other fight that can be made. No one lives a life without losses and that's part of the reason why Muhammad Ali will always be seen as the greatest and not Floyd Mayweather. Losses are not what define us, it's what we do afterwards. Humble in victory and humble in defeat. Still a champion in my eyes sorry to disappoint.
